crankycrafter:NEWS! Design Sponge has taken down this post. I’m not sure why because the author of the post vigorously defended Dreamcatchers and the Jezebel article after each negative comment the blog received. Design Sponge still has the now broken link up on their FB page and Grace Bonny’s tweet is still there.
For anyone worrying that their fake Native American crafts are politically incorrect - WORRY NO MORE. One of the biggest design blogs, “DESIGN SPONGE”, has declared them not to be cultural appropriating anyone. Maybe they would like to feature the Indian Squaw Halloween outfit I just posted. And by the way thank goodness Jezebel agrees with DESIGN SPONGE.
“Note: I do think it’s always important to consider cultural appropriation when looking at objects that originate from other cultures. Jezebel had a great article on cultural appropriation here that explains why dream catchers are not very problematic but describe what items are. It’s an interesting read.”
