It happened when Dick was in space. He joined Bruce and the Justice League on a mission in a war-driven planet. Their attempt at negotiations back fire and before the ‘neutral earthlings’ can depart from the upcoming war, it had already begun. Dick was hit with a radioactive laser beam of somesort while in combat. He didn’t expect it to be as severe at first. So once they were able to safely depart, Dick didn’t seek immidiate treatment.
Which is a dumb move, as Jason will remind him for the next few weeks time. Because that slip of information caused him to be paralysed from the waist down.
He was warded at the Watch Tower Infirmary bay for 2 whole weeks before he was able to able to discharge home. Alien medications was used, some complication arrised but he was safely healed. He still need physiotherapy though, and he was no where near his previous strength. And feeling a little haggard for wear.
Which is why as soon as he landed on earth at the Bat Cave, he was tackle by a very worried-relief-distress-upset Omega. Jason kept muttering mild insults at the injured Alpha. Calling him an idiot and moron among other things. Jason’s grip around his neck tightens with every passing insult. And he could not retaliate any of them because holy shit Jason is Hugging him!
They are still new in their courting. Well more like Dick is trying really hard to court Jason while he just feels insecure about the whole thing. Anytime Dick is being affectionate with Jason, he will tense up. Like waiting for a shoe to drop and expecting Dick will turn on him. Jason is very puzzled why that hasn’t happened yet.
So yeah the hug came as a surprise. Dick hugs him back. Jason’s body feels small within Dick’s arms. But oh so warm. “Hey Little Wing” Dick said in a hoarse voice. He’s not crying but is very close to it. Because the past 2 weeks has been an emotional roller coaster ride. And not having his Omega there with him just adds to his stress.
“You’re an idiot,” Jason responded.
“I miss you too,” Dick replied.
That night, Dick made a request for Jason to sleep with him. He was met with a refusal glance. 'It was expected’ Dick said in his mind. He was about to take back his request when Jason went out of the room, came back with his own blanket, plop down to Dick’s right side of the bed and layed down. He didn’t say anything and just lay there in silence. Now Dick felt like crying.
Dick reached for Jason’s hand and grip it tightly. Jason reciprocate. He felt asleep like that. In the comfort of his Omega’s presence and home. He doesn’t know if he will be able to fly like before but for now he is just glad he is alive.
Dick found Jason curled up on a beanie bag at the library. He was sitting near the window, with a book in his hand. A few pieces of cloting and blankets were thrown over the bag making a semi-nest perfect for his omega to sun bath on.
Its already spring and the temperarure is just right between warm and coolish. Jason’s warm scent fills the room, indicating he is relaxed and safe. It just instantly put a smile on Dick’s face.
He drops down next to Jason on the beanie bag. Its big enough to fit both of them, but Jason has to wiggle a bit to be comfortable. He scowls at Dick for disrupting his peace, but let the older alpha invades his personal space. Jason ignores him and continue to read his book. Dick immidiately take that as a green lit to nuzzle on Jason’s hair. The calming spicy vanilla scent wash over Dick and he inhale as much as he can. Jason calls him a creep for that, in a low tone. Commenting just for the sake of commenting.
Not much words was exchanged after that. Dick read along the passage of the book that Jason is reading. But the words didn’t really register. So he opt to scrolling his phone instead. While still being stuck to Jason like a limpet. If there is anything funny he found on the net, he’ll inform Jason. Jason will give a little ‘hmm’ but otherwise ignore him. That’s a common interaction they’ll have anytime Jason has a book in his hands. Dick is pretty use to it.
It has taken them a long time to be this close and comfortable with each other. Jason is not in any way a touchy feely person. During their initial courtship, he even freezes when Dick just wanted to hold his hand. Now Jason is comfortable enough to initiate intimate gestures. Dick actually have an anniversary date on when Jason first hugged him. He kid you not.
Time went on. The afternoon light slowly moving away from their sitting spot. Dick was busy playing a game on his phone when he felt Jason’s head fell to his shoulder. He turns and was surprise to see Jason asleep. His book lay flat on his chest. His breathing slow, his shoulder relaxed. Dick didn’t even notice. “Hey, Jay?” He called, no response. He tried again. “Wanna go upstairs? Its much more comfy.” Jason opens his eyes slightly, but instead of looking at Dick, he closes them again, turn his body fully facing Dick and wrap his hands around Dick’s torso. “In a minute,” Jason slurred.
Dick was screaming inside becaue 'Holy shit, that is damn cute!’. His lips tremble as he tries not to smile too wide. He nuzzle again on Jason’s hair and wrap his arms around him protectively. With his phone forgotten, he opt to join Jason on his nap.
This came about because I want cute DickJay lovey-dovey scene. So yeah.
