Grump Drake – Tiny dragon, neutral
It is still unknown whether the grump drake isn‘t able to fly because of its undersized wings or because it is simply too unwilling to actually give it a try. For this very reason, this human hand-sized critter is classified as a drake related to other peculiar dragon-like creatures such as the hermit or the nettle drake. Like all of his kin, the grump drake loves to establish tiny yet cozy lairs with a surprising preference of staying close to buzzing locations – be it under the floor boards of a well-attended tavern, in a mast’s hole of a faring vessel or sometimes even on the inside of a commodious piece of baggage carried by an adventuring party.

Deadrose Undertaker – Tiny humanoid, lawful evil
Guarded by thorns and shaped by passion, the Rose Queen reigns over her sinister empire: a domain defined by decadency, fervor and blood; roaming with grim knights, insidious jesters and other ominous agents. The most feared and beloved of them are the undertakers. Being highly-praised gladiators and elite soldiers at the same time, they operate with fiery determination, daunting precession and an absolute allegiance to the cause. They thrive on glory of contest and will never turn down a chance to display their prowess – be it on the soil of a thunderous arena or while carrying out the will of their queen.

Emberheart Dragon – Tiny dragon, neutral
Flickering through the air like a crimson blade, this gold-shimmering aerialist is feared and admired alike: cunning maneuvers testify its grace, scorching commitment fuels its valor and a ferocious heart makes the emberheart dragon a dreadful enemy to fight. Breaking its will in order tame it proves to be an impossible task many have failed already. Only warriors with souls forged from fire are considered worthy enough to tune in on the emberheart dragon’s fervently flowing moves. Legend has it, that the most determined among them are chosen to ascend to well-respected combat companions, forming a bond of fierce battle and daring dance.

Freshwater Bog Troll – Large giant, chaotic neutral
Though they appear to be no more intimidating than a typical troll, freshwater bog trolls can be an absolute terror for adventurers. Infused with the rejuvenating peat of the fens and marshes they call home, bog trolls are incredibly difficult to tackle. So long as they remain partially submerged in the unique waters of their home, they can weather volley after volley of attacks. Typically, adventurers are wise enough not to assault a freshwater bog troll unless they absolutely have to. These hulking brutes are rarely antagonistic, but they are highly territorial. If intruders encroach on their land, they will fight back with begrudging vigor.

Untiring Knight – Medium undead, chaotic evil
Motivated entirely by a lust for violence, some once-valiant knights can approach a state of undeath, endlessly animated by bloodlust. These untiring knights lose all understanding of their own identity and any nuance of a conflict. Instead, they focus single-mindedly on a sole violent task: the perpetuation of a war, the defeat of an assassin, or the sacking of an enemy fort. In the employ of conniving monarchs, an untiring knight can be an invaluable vassal, though they are nigh impossible to command with any reliability. Once they have chosen their eternal calling, they cannot be swayed. They will seek violence at all costs, for if their murderous fervor ever wanes, their undying spirit will immediately wither.

Haunted Dog – Medium undead, unaligned
When a dog experiences exceptional tragedy, its spirit has a tendency to linger and fester. When a dog in agony perishes, this spirit can form a restless specter that haunts the site of its woes. Like any mistreated animal, a haunted dog’s misery gradually morphs into distrust and eventually violence. Particularly ill-fated spirits are hyper-aggressive, rendering the lairs they haunt extremely dangerous. A haunted dog can be banished if put at ease; if a tormented dog is shown kindness and affection despite its outward hostility, it may find release. Alternatively, a haunted dog that cannot be pacified can be destroyed, but only if it is defeated on the Ethereal Plane.

The strange truth is that parents love bog hags. The mere threat of a vindictive dark magic witch strikes fear into the hearts of children, who then rush to tidy their rooms or finish their oats. In reality, most bog hags wouldn’t dare turn an innocent child into a frog unless that child threatened them or their home. Bog hags tend to be ecologically minded wardens of their oft-maligned biomes. They recognize the beauty and environmental significance of their marshes, fens, and swamps, and they do everything in their power to protect these misunderstood habitats.

This peculiar critter is the smallest, yet most cunning representative of the highly venomous wurm genus. With its remarkable ability to perfectly imitate a sheet of paper, it secretly roams wherever books are present – from the dust-ridden library of an ancient civilization to the buzzing book shop selling heavy tomes and fantastic scrolls. Being able to remain motionless over extended periods of time, it is not uncommon for this whimsical creature to be utilized for a hasty note, a secret message or a cheesy poem of love – completely unnoticed by the unwary author.

Vamster Pup – Tiny beast, unaligned
From the very first moment of its birth, a vamster is driven by an insatiable thirst for blood. Ever-hungry, the pups already join the ferocious hunting hordes, hastily burrowing through the infested earth of remote villages and isolated farms. Either to scout the area for prey – silently floating through the air and nearly impossible to spot – or to sneak up on distracted targets in the midst of a battle’s chaos. Even several days after an attack, vamster pups are still found hanging on to unsuspecting victims to repeatedly feast on their blood.

Splish-Splash – Tiny aberration, unaligned
Two exceptional traits allow the splish-splash to engage in a more than sinister hunting tactic: prominent external gills that are more than capable to process atmospheric air and tiny legs. While the major part of a splish-splash group hides in the shallow waters near slippery river banks, a few individuals stay outside to serve as potential bait for unwary adventurers. The ravenous group either tries to simply overwhelm anyone stepping to close or they patiently wait for the scouts to lure their victims into the floods. The true nature of the splish-splash is yet to be discovered – rumor has it that it is actually just the larva of a much larger creature…

While all oras share a similarly bulky body with the characteristic vocal sac, the ever-changing flow of the arcane vastly influences their coloration, head shape as well as their magical capabilities. This enormous variety attracts many collectors of whimsical rarities and seekers of eccentric companions. Some even host tournaments showcasing the ora‘s impressive display behaviour in harmless yet spectacular competitions. Although such an event is definitely worth to witness, caution is highly advised: not only are these peculiar critters linked to the arcane but also among themselves, mutually strengthening each other to a point where they may easily break out. Especially magma oras are feared for their fiery ferocity in battle once set free.

Copperhopper – Small construct, unaligned
Each series of protobots was developed with a specific intention. Be it searching for magic items, as mobile mending machines or for recreational purposes. A small part of these age-old constructs was designed in order to examine the suitability of gemstones as a potential power source. Although first experiments seemed promising, the approach never yielded a continuous flow of energy and the project copperhopper dropped shortly after its invention. Today, many of these relict constructs still roam the wilderness, lie dormant on secluded glades or dwell through long-forgotten ruins at the bottom of the sea.

The “Good Spirit of the Groves” is a legend among forest dwelling folks and woodlanders – always ready to step in and turn the tides of a hopeless battle. Because of its kind-hearted nature, the woodpertinger is often accompanied by like-minded creatures, such as minklings, pixies or thumbstalls. It is wild at heart and it takes a considerable amount of persuasion or immediate urgency for this mystical fey to join a long-term cause.
