Winter’s Whelp – Tiny elemental, neutral

Being the offspring of the legendary Harbingers of Winter, this elemental creature is often seen as an omen for imminent events of uttermost significance. As cute or even harmless as it might seem, this critter is in fact unexpectedly powerful and capable of wielding primordial forces. Sudden formation of mist and an abrupt temperature drop should be considered a first warning sign of a nearby winter‘s whelp. And wherever a whelp roams, a pack of fully grown Harbingers of Winter is usually close by…

I like cantrips, so I figured it’d be neat to make a magic item that gives them a tiny boost. Although this was mostly so I could make a group message spell, I’m going to be honest.

And no, you can’t benefit from more than one of the same ring at once (so you could have a friends ring and a mage hand ring but not two mage hand rings to increase the lifting by 10 lbs).

Dragonets! They’re even smaller, dumber, and more harmless than pseudodragons. I’ve started to use my own art for homebrew, so it takes a bit longer but the upside is that it looks like I mean it to look!

Next up: Variant wyverns!

New item!
Megalithic Beast Breaker
Weapon (greatsword), uncommon

This massive greatsword is chiseled from an incredibly heavy piece of jagged stone. Ancient arcane binding barely prevents it from shattering on impact.

When you hit with an attack using this magic greatsword, the target takes an extra 1d6 bludgeoning damage, or 3d6 bludgeoning damage if the target is a beast. While you hold this weapon, you have resistance to damage dealt by beasts. If you roll a 1 on an attack roll, roll a d20. On a 1, the greatsword shatters and is destroyed.

May all chipmunks, chickadees and ladybugs fear your tremendous might!

New item!
Canteen of Crapulence
Wondrous item, common

Any water poured into this magical flask becomes ale. Pouring out the ale reverts it to water unless you drink directly from the flask.

YE WON’T MAKE ANOTHER PURCHASE *hic* IN YER MISERABLE LIFE” shouted the canteen vender as she teetered on her stool in the market square. Despite her obvious drunkenness and brusque demeanor, it looked like her canteens were flying off the shelf…

New item!
Moustachio’d Tabar
Weapon (battleaxe), common (requires attunement)

While attuned to this battleaxe you grow a large and illustrious moustache, or a visibly thicker and more remarkable moustache if you already have one.

“There’s something different about Jeanette, but I can’t place it.” The large, ornate battleaxe slung over her shoulder was certainly new, but that wasn’t it… Her demeanor is pleasant as always and she paid her bar tab in full per usual. “She just seems to have a glow about her!”

New item!
Bellringer
Weapon (whip), rare

This whip ends in a bronze bell clapper, perfect for ringing someone’s bell. You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon, which deals 1d6 bludgeoning damage in place of the normal whip damage. Additionally, when you roll a 20 on your attack roll with this magic weapon, the target is stunned until the end of your next turn.

Bellringer is the devastating weapon of choice used by the notorious bandit Leshii the Snake. Countless caravan guards have been incapacitated by a clap to the head, only to find their precious cargo long gone when they regain consciousness.

✨New item!✨
Weirdwood Bow
Weapon (any bow), uncommon (requires attunement)

While this bow is on your person, you cannot be surprised, except when you are incapacitated. Additionally, when a creature within this bow’s range is targeted by an opportunity attack, you can use your reaction to make a ranged attack with this bow against that creature.

The mysterious weirdwood is a tree that remains ever vigilant, its many lidless eyes shifting and scanning. Bows shaped from its wood bestow uncanny alertness upon the wielder, allowing skilled archers to exploit every fleeting misstep.

✨New item!✨
Dread Pincer
Wondrous item, rare

This hollow crab claw is large enough for you to put your arm inside. While your arm is inside the claw, it adheres to your body and can be manipulated from within. The claw functions identically to your arm, however Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) checks using the claw are made with disadvantage.

The claw is a natural weapon, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with it, you deal bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. If you hit a creature with an unarmed strike using the claw, you can use a bonus action to attempt a grapple check. You can use your reaction to deal 1d6 + your Strength modifier bludgeoning damage to a creature that fails a check to escape the claw.

The claw can only be removed from your arm with an action if you submerge it in boiling water.

Amplified. This claw is a piece of the Crab Lord set. The claw gains the following attributes while used with other Crab Lord set pieces:

  • Creatures make checks to escape the grasp of this claw with disadvantage if you are also wearing the Dread Carapace.
  • The damage dealt by this claw increases to 1d8 + your Strength modifier if you are also wearing the Chitinous Crown.

“The crab lords of Plunderbrook must be molting!” Blubbington exclaimed, hefting the massive crustacean carapace onto the back of her hippocampus. The kelp obscured movement in her periphery as the freshly molted crab lords used the element of surprise to descend upon poor Blubbington, who was never seen again…
