redwingedwhump:

Just tossing this up here, I had to do it. Let me know if there’s a need for a “translated” version of this, as the dialogue here is in an older dialect of English than is used today.

This is a series, Masterlist Here!

TW: Vampire whumpee, house fire mention, Dehumanization, humiliation, leash and collar mention, a flaming row/shouting match over it, domestic violence/manhandling, threat of whipping/beating.

1579

Under the newly knighted Sir William Nightley’s directions, building work was begun in earnest on the new home for his family and posterity. The people of Atcombe town had already begun to call it Blackthorne Hall, after the little hamlet of Blackthorne that had stood close by, and the old Nightley Hall itself, which had both burned down in that fatal night last Autumn. Until their new home would be finished enough to live in, Sir William rented his family the finest house he could get in Atcombe and rode over daily to oversee the work.

Yves had taken up some of his former duties in the oversight of the household but his role was still unclear, and Agnes Nightley was still not entirely at ease with having a vampire servingman in her home, and around her son or little infant daughter. She pretended to be, for her husband’s sake, but Yves could hear heartbeats now. He was learning what a tight smile but an elevated pulse meant, when people did it at the sight of him. Fortunately, she had taken the children to run about on the village green when the painting arrived.

It was brought by a courier, wrapped in clean rags and canvas to protect it. Sir William pulled the covering from it and leaned it against a heavy brass candlestick on the table in the main room of the house, where there was light enough to see it best.

Yves emerged from doing up the beds in the bedrooms, coming down the stairs. “What, is this that painting commissioned in Spring, brought from London at last?”

Today was the final session of the Trauma Therapy Group me and my mum went too. It was really useful and I liked that it was a small group, it made it less scary, overwhelming and such with my anxiety and more accessible.

I feel like I came away with a greater understanding of the connection between trauma and the body. And that maybe it’s now given me the skills to work on that connection and not neglect it i.e forgetting to eat or drink or sleep.

I think sharing this is rather apt given the work I’ve been doing in the group these past 6 weeks. Whilst this starts off sad (it’s a collection of 3 short micro poems) the final poem ends on a rather hopeful tone about my trauma and the way its affected me and it mirrors how I’m feeling no. I feel hopeful that one day I can move past my trauma I know it’s changed me in ways that I’ll never get back the person I used to be, and I no longer crave to be the old me. But there are things that impact my daily life that I hope to overcome, so that I can stop living in the past, stop being so afraid, and to look forward to a brighter future.

This does come with a TW as it does discuss themes of abuse/domestic violence nothing graphic or anything just thats what the poems are about and the first two are sadder. Actually I feel like they represent different stages in my POV on my trauma - the first anger that they could do this to me. The second is sadness, hopelessness almost but mostly just sad and this feeling like I’ll always be haunted by my past hence the hopelessness. But the final one is me accepting or hoping I’d say fits it better, hoping that maybe one day that won’t always be the case I won’t always be haunted or tormented by my past.

It’s a more hopeful outlook than the poem prior and I think for the most part my thoughts now remain similar to the final poem and less so the second but I still struggle to reconcile how they could behave such a way and that conflict is well expressed in the first poem and despite my hope that conflict is still ever present. Anyways this is long enough you didn’t need this explanation/summary on the poems so maybe just go read it instead?

sorry but i’ve decided i’m not going to shut up about the implications of the depp vs heard spectacle. it’s genuinely frightening how this is radicalizing people into thinking the legal system is FAVORED on the side of women naming their abusers and rapists when that could not be further from the truth. i’ve seen more incel propaganda repeated word for word in the last few weeks than i’ve seen in years. please PLEASE use your brains. this is bigger than stanning a single celebrity and hoping they ‘win’. Me Too, despite being localized around abuse in hollywood, had a measurable impact on how victims were treated outside of that sphere of power. this case and how people are reacting to it online will also have an impact. it’s just all so incredibly irresponsible.

peterdyckmancampbell:

so now women legally cannot even mention having been victims of domestic violence or sexual assault without it being defamation. I hope y’all demons fucking die in the most painful way imaginable.

As a verdict is possibly hours away, a sense of dread has been building in my stomach for what it will mean for Amber’s future, as well as all victims of intimate partner violence (IPV), particularly as women’s basic rights continue to be under attack in the United States. Like many people who are following the case, I have personal experiences with abuse. Much of my research focuses on IPV, specifically, the disparities in resources and services that are available for survivors to leave their abusers, such as economic, social, geographical barriers. It’s a topic which is deeply tied to my own personal experiences and academic career.

I initially was ambivalent to Amber Heard. Before I began to research the case, I was firmly in the “they both suck” camp, having only briefly glanced through articles. I started to pay more attention to the media coverage over the past six weeks and was really staggered by how Heard was being portrayed as a lying, crazy, gold-digging woman through narratives that were not only going unchallenged, but were heavily perpetuated in the public discourse. Even worse, that the abuse she experienced had been capitalized on by “true crime” junkies and mocked in TikTok videos and Youtube compilations. So I began watching the trial live and found that there was far more evidence and far more substantial evidence which shows that JD was the perpetrator of abuse within their relationship.

The evidence collected through JD’s personal texts and emails show an early pattern of abuse. He exerted control over the clothes Amber woreandwould become angry when she didn’t dress “conservatively”. He would consistently accuse her of having affairs with acquaintances, friends, and various co-stars, even with an openly gay director, Clive Barker. He didn’t like that she was ambitious and would scorn her when she took opportunities to advance her career. He would constantly refer to her with misogynistic language. He also referred to Amber, an openly bisexual woman, as a lesbian camp counsellor”. He messaged other men to discuss killing her through drowning and burning her, and then raping her burnt corpse to prove that she was truly dead. This all occurred while they were still dating. She was in her early 20s and he was in 50s. All of these coercive, paranoid, jealous, controlling behaviours are deeply and unequivocally abusive.

None of this includes the evidence which shows physical and sexual abuse. There are audio tapes in which he admits to headbutting her, so hard that she was concerned her nose was broken. In another recording, they discuss how her family and friends have seen her bruises, broken blood vessels, and bald spots from her hair being torn out of her scalp. In another one, she screams “stop hitting me!” Another shows him stating “I will smack the ugly c**t before I let her in.” A video shows him aggressively breaking and smashing furniture near her. One interaction reveals that Stephen Deuters, his assistant, begged her to come back to him after her assaulted her on a plane in front of his bodyguards, pleading to her that JD was remorseful for his actions. Heard also has stated he sexuallyassaultedhermultiple times. Remember, he previously discussed violently raping her in those infamous messages to Paul Bettany.

As for witnesses, several testified to seeing bruises on her numerous times, including JD’s witnesses, such as their marriage counsellor. A makeup artist, Melanie Inglessis, testified to coveringswelling on her lip and two black eyes. Raquel Pennington saw several injuries, including bloodied bald spots on her head, a swollen nose, and cut lip. She expressed fear JD would eventually kill Amber if she didn’t leave. Josh Drew also testified to seeing her with injuries, including black eyes, a swollen cheek, and a busted lip. iO Tillet Wright (who Depp misgenders throughout his testimony) recalled hearing JD assault Amber and scream “oh, you think I hit you? You think I fucking hit you? What if I peel your fucking hair back. iO then called 911. This was the incident which led Heard to file for a divorce and a restraining order, two days afterwards. It is worth noting that Pennington, Drew, and Wright all corroborated this incident in their depositions, as did iO’s 2016 essay.

Is she guilty of fighting back? Absolutely. Shenever liedabout doing so, even dating back to her 2016 deposition. However, fighting back against a man who has beaten you, sexually assaulted you, controlled your career, finances, and who you can associate with does not equate to being an abuser. It’s simply surviving. And yes, I’ve heard those audio tapes, the in which she’s expresses her incredulity at him for stating their fights were fair when she feared he would kill her.

His case has relied upon deeply misogynistic narratives to discredit both her claims and her character. She was after his money all along, even though she refused the 30 million dollar fortune she was legally entitled to, as there was no prenup. She painted on bruises, even though a makeup artist testified to covering up her swollen lip and two black eyes. She cut off his finger, even though multiple texts and even an audio recording showcase him admitting to doing it in the midst of a bender. She didn’t donate her money, even though she and the organization created a 10 year plan for her to make yearly payments (in my personal opinion, what she does with her money either way is nobody’s fucking business). Also worth noting, an ACLU representative testified to her being ahead of schedule until Depp began suing her. She made up a hoax, because she documented her abuse - as we advise all people who are in abusive situations to do. She’s a liar, because women are inherently deceitful liars.

None of the evidence that JD’s attorneys presented has proven that she defamed him through her op-ed piece. That’s likely because their goal was never to prove that her article - which never explicitly references him or their relationship - impacted his career. Those who watched the trial will know, Tracy Jacobs, his agent of 30 years stated that it was his drug and alcohol abuse, anger issues, chronic lateness (7 or 8 hours late to set each day), and unprofessionalism that led to his career decline. Film crews grew tired of working around these problems, and eventually, so did Hollywood. Tina Newman, a Disney Corporate Representative who worked on POTC stated no one knew of Amber’s op-ed until Depp sued her.

The trial was always meant to humiliate, shame, and terrorize her. We are witnessing in a powerful man terrorize his ex-wife through the legal system, all while the world makes TikToks of her sexual assault testimony. JD has a documentedhistoryofviolence and is due for another court date after assaulting a crew member of the set of City of Lies. To quote his own words, “If I’m angry and I’ve got to lash out or hit somebody, I’m going to do it and I don’t care what the repercussions are. Anger doesn’t pay rent, it’s gotta go. It’s gotta be evicted.”

I don’t know whether Amber Heard will win her case. We’re witnessing a radical right-wing political swing to control and criminalize women’s bodies with Roe v. Wade under attack right now. To be blunt, I have very little faith in the justice system and that a jury - in Virginia of all places - will rule in favour of an abused woman over her charismatic, powerful ex-husband. However, I think it’s important to remember that Amber did everything right, that is, everything we tell women to do. She documented her abuse, left her abusive partner, and was granted a restraining order - and she’s continuing to be punished for doing so. If Amber, a privileged white woman with access to economic resources, is still struggling to escape her abuser, how can we expect women without those privileges to?

Retaliating against victims of domestic violence in court is so common it is considered a form of abuse in itself.

it will always be insane to me how the gen-z “kill your rapist ” “kill all men” “woody allen die” girlies are the ones screaming at amber heard supporters on the internet like “how can you support her when there’s so much evidence against her?? there’s literally tapes of her insulting him and admitting to hitting him!!” like oh I’m sorry i didn’t realize it was cool to ~*kill*~ your rapist and abuser but not to hit him back or tell him to go fuck himself

depp stans will really peddle about any discredited lie to make themselves feel better about the overwhelming evidence against him. misquoting her saying that men can’t be victims. lying about doctors being on AUDIO calling his finger injury an “injury of velocity” when that’s only a claim depp made, there is no audio, and the actual medical records directly contradict such claims. i just think it’s funny how people supporting amber heard’s evidence is often just debunked youtube video and twitter myths that nobody has bothered to look into…… like why would mention there’s audio of something you haven’t even listened to it’s okay not to have an opinion sometimes i’m sorry that misinformation makes you feel more comfortable and secure though you can start waiting for drops from q to tell you what the gameplan is

lol i think a big reason that people like me care about the amber heard debacle despite not necessarily thinking she’s some great person is seeming progressives use it to spread MRA rhetoric and support a vindictive libel case that’s being filed in retaliation against the vaguest possible reference to one’s own victimhood whose ex husband was clearly and provably biphobic toward her, jealous of her ex wife, and jealous of and transphobic toward her friends at the same time Roe v. Wade is being overturned while justices question. we’ve got people jumping into ableist psychiatrisy. bot farms becoming an increasing problem all over the world to slander progressives as well. progress for women and LGBT+ people being rolled back while people look at this as if Depp is a figurehead for change and progress, but not the good kind. it’s more than a celebrity gossip trial - it will shape how we view bisexual women, abuse victims, and what kind of behavior we excuse from powerful cishet white men when they have money and charisma backing them up.

one of the most infuriating productions of the depp pr machine is people who see themselves as fighting for disbelieved minority groups or something (men who are victims of women) believing the false narrative that heard abused her ex wife hinged on the idea that cops with the right identity politics suddenly are more credible than lesbian and bisexual women they police. this is, mind you based on an arrest that depp’s team vindictively dug up after it had been removed from her record. depp has called van ree a “fucking hovering vulture,”(page 50) called heard as someone with “matronliness as a lesbian camp counsellor”(page 247) - and these are just statements that are undisputed because they’re in writing; depp tried to deny the second one and state that it didn’t matter since he never “uttered” the words out loud.

johnny depp was jealous and possessive of heard around many people, including other women, including specifically her ex-wife. he took the experience of a young amber heard who considered herself married to another woman in a time before gay marriage was legal, took the experience of what it was like to be policed, to feel like you were being targeted by the police for your sexuality, specifically, and twisted it into being somehow a compelling and undisputed case of abuse in the minds of the public. he took her ex who was so close with her it made him pissed off and said her voice didn’t matter and actually she was a victim. because of this fucking ridiculous arrest where all charges were dropped. it’s bewildering that anyone could even dream of holding tasya van ree against heard, whilst still thinking they’re participating in some form of social justice

johnny depp knew that he’d get a media circus this time & he’s definitely getting exactly what he wants. i don’t want to deal with weeks and weeks more of people being intensely violent, ableist, homophobic, biphobic, misogynistc, transphobic, and racist to handwave away every single thing johnny depp has done and said because we have to pour over every one of his little texts because he can’t let his ex wife just exist in the world

J*hnny d*pp has earned $116 million since amber heard first came out about him abusing her. He continued to be in h*rry p*tter, murder on the orient express, pirates and several other movies. The idea that his career was ruined by her allegations are a joke, never mind that benign article where she didn’t even name him, considering he earned $116 million after

It’s so… Johnny Depp had WB/JK Rowling standing by him, even defending him, following Heard’s allegations. The Sun, an irrelevant joke of a newspaper, calls him a wife-beater for something like 24 hours (they amended the headline literally the very next day after publishing the article to remove the “wife-beater” phrase) but instead of letting it go (cos I mean it’s The Sun, not a single reasonable person respects that rag), Depp takes them to court claiming that they were trying to pressure WB/JKR to drop him from Fantastic Beasts (even though at that time they were continuing to stand by him), and loses - and because of that, he was dropped from Fantastic Beasts and we are now literally LEGALLY ALLOWED to call him a wife-beater without facing any legal consequences. Over a court case HE started. Literally all of this is of his own making.

AND HE STILL GOT PAID. For a movie he didn’t even do.

Amber Heard did not ruin his career, she never had that power. He was still one of the highest earning actors in Hollywood after she came forward about his abuse of her. And that’s why he is suing her for the Washington Post op-ed instead of the initial abuse allegations - no one looking at his earnings would believe for a second that her allegations actually affected his career, which is why he’s pinning it on something she wrote years later. And this is just one more thing that abusers do: take their anger at their own fuck-ups out on their victims. He fucked up his own career and he’s trying to find any way he can to blame her for it

Since I was blocked by op let me respond there @harpnotes-joy . Btw, your “secondly” was truly dumb. And the term “AH apologists” is indeed stupid.

  • I don’t understand why you don’t take in consideration the UK trial as a proof. Are you more qualified than A JUDGE?
  • The texts messages. Is it even OK to write this about anyone ? Would you like it being wrote about you ? Isn’t it a red flag ?
  • How old were Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder when they were dating? Even without the AH case it would be trashy. Or is it OK to date an under-age girl ?

61% of bisexual women report* being raped, having endured physical violence or been stalked by a partner. Bisexual women are almost five times as likely to experience sexual abuse and twice as likely to experience stalking, compared with heterosexual women. This is the reality of bisexual women speaking up. I fully expect to see a similar situation play out soon with Megan Thee Stallion with the additional factor of how much race plays a role in whether women are believed or not.
