В рамках фестиваля “Золотая маска” к нам приехала труппа театра балета им. Л. Якобсона (СПб) с балетом “Дон Кихот”.
Давненько я не ходила в театр и тем более на балет, так что пропустить данное событие не могла и не прогадала. Чудесный балет! Очаровательные, харизматичные танцоры! Прекрасная музыка! Яркие костюмы! И юмор! Да, его там было достаточно. Именно лёгкий юмор придавал лёгкость постановке, так что 2,5 часа пролетели незаметно.

A fast sketch of Doflamingo being sexually frustrated and shy because I can that’s why!)

I had a request to draw Doflamingo and it was reeeeally challenging ‘cause I’m so in love with that beautiful bastard.
There’re lots of arts though with typical Doflamingo grinning in his feather coat and I wanted it to be something else.
Doflamingo’s ruling as a king of Dressrosa and his self-confidence as a tenrubito breaks apart by strawhats. He sees himself as an external winner, as the greatest and the strongest, but in reality he is bitten down, sailing away from his kingdom to the prison for forever. He is no longer the first one and strongest.
I wanted to show the Doflamingo, whose self-confidence is so high, even all of that being true he still sees himself as a king, and the strongest, and the greatest. Because that’s what I love in him. He has the will strong enough to contend the reality and find the way to win.

I didn’t have a normal childhood and it was strange leaving college to realize that I am not like most people.
I grew up around magic, glitter, kids, thousands of kids, music, laser lighting, spotlights, microphones, booing, cheering, more glitter…
Dad was a Theatre Director.
The theatre he helped design, the one where I so clearly remember tracing my feet across concrete lines while hearing dad say, “This will be my office,” that theatre was my home, and it was only fitting that the theatre would one day be named after him.
Papa Z retired a few years ago.
He now loves spending time with mom and my sister’s babies. Send him some love, if you’d like to!
All funny memories are welcome.
