Yamaha 500 SR Flying Tiger Custom by Blitz Motorcycles…. For those of you who are unaware of Blitz Motorcycles They are a Paris-based custom garage founded by Fred Jourden and Hugo Jezegabel in 2010. Together, They conceive, customised and hand finish motorcycles to create unique, one-of-a-kind machines. Some of you may know them form their work with Edwin, which for obvious reasons is how i became aware of there work.
I have only really ever had a loose interest in motorcycles but the guys at Blitz have created something that is inspiring in that easy rider sense, freedom and all that hippie jazz, which seems like a nice thing to aspire to when living in London. My Dad rolls around on a Harley Davidson so it’s something that has always been around in my life, and in my head i just assumed that i would end up on one, at some point in my life, I’m sure it will happen, just need a week or two off work to get going ha….

There are some songs that, the first time you hear them, feel like finding a room in your childhood home that you never knew existed. They hit you in that sweet spot of nostalgia and light that anyone who’s a serious music fan has felt just a handful of times.
This one, erstwhile Byrd Gene Clark’s ‘American Dreamer’, is one of those. It comes from the documentary of the same name about Dennis Hopper. The doc is something else (it’s on youtube) – pretty much 80 minutes of Hopper (fresh off of 'Easy Rider’) sprouting his personal M.O while wandering around. Sounds tripped out and is. But is also riveting. The soundtrack is sublime, made up of Clark cuts and other same vein cosmic folk, and the whole enterprise is a deft picture of the American Cinema system in the '70s.
1:57 of modern day high lonesome moan that sounds great just about anytime the sun is rising or setting, just about anywhere to anyone here in American.
Easy Rider premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on 12 May 1969, before its official release in July.
Written by Peter Fonda and Terry Southern (Dennis Hopper also received credit, although Southern disputed that Hopper contributed much to the final script) and directed by Hopper with a budget of less than $1.5 million (about $1 million of which went to licensing music), the film received the Prix de la première œuvre (Best First Film) at Cannes and was nominated for Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor (Jack Nicholson). William Goldman received the writing award for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and Gig Young received the acting award for his performance in They Shoot Horses Don’t They.
Easy Rider was a huge box office success, earning more than $60 million dollars worldwide, and ending the year as the 3rd highest-earning film in the US (behind Butch CassidyandMidnight Cowboy).
