Mirabel, Isabela and Camilo - Spoilers for Encanto
Okay, so the part where Camilo and Isabela rush to the rooftop, with Mirabel, when the house is falling apart… I really love that scene!
AND
They’re going cuz they’re trying to get to Mirabel. They’re going after her
They’re not trying to get to the candle. I don’t care if thats not the reason behind the scene in the official script, - to me- they’re desperately trying to get their sister/cousin out of danger
Mirabel wants to save the magic, but at that moment Isa and Camilo just want her safe and with the rest of the family, out. of. the. crashing. house.
I need to rewatch the scene because initially I thought they were reaching for the candle. December 24th cannot come faster.
I love this movie, and these characters, Disney where’s the series
people really watched a movie about the complexities of intergenerational trauma and met the matriarch, a woman who’s had her life destroyed, who had to watch her husband die in front of her, fearing for her and her children’s lives, and then became so fearful that she spent the rest of her life holding them so tight and being so strict, but eventually learned that they are safe now and she can move on for the sake of herself and her family, actively choosing to break the unhealthy cycle she’d previously estabilished, and decided to paint her as a selfish, wicked monster who brainwashed her entire family and it’s insane
All the Bruno hugs because God he probably needed a hug
Encanto Spoilers
Encanto Facts:
- Bruno left after Mirabel’s ceremony when she was 5
- Camilo is also 15 in the movie, so he ALSO hasn’t seen Bruno since he was 5
- He should only know as much about Bruno as Mirabel given no one will talk about him
- Camilo’s description of him includes rats, which would have no reason to be part of Bruno’s characterization until after he started living in the walls
- Seven feet would be a pretty typical amount for a small child to remember someone taller than them being years later
- Bruno’s good at unintentionally looming creepily in the dark
- Bruno gets all his food by stealing from the kitchen
Conclusion:
Camilo snuck into the kitchen once at night for a late-night snack, Bruno and his rats were stealing food, he says Camilo’s name in surprise, Camilo passes tf out
Seven foot frame, rats along his back, when he calls your name it all fades to black
To be honest this makes so much sense
When Luisa said “Was Hercules ever like ‘yo I don’t wanna fight Cerberus’” FELT
I haven’t seen Encanto yet but I do know a bit about Heracles and his trials(at least the version of the myth I know). In one of them he had to cross a long hot desert, and partway through he shot at the sun titan helios because he was so pissed about crossing the desert. Helios sympathesized with him and let him ride his sun chariot, and Heracles accepted the help. There are plenty of other times Heracles accepted help and guidance from the Gods in order to conquer his trials. Artemis let him borrow her sacred deer as long as he returned it. Athena gave him a rattle to scare off crows… and Hades even let him fight Cerberus as long as he promised not to use weapons, instead of outright rejecting him. basically I think this is important considering I assume Luisa eventually gives herself more slack. Even Heracles needed help.
That’s an excellent affirmation and also incredible in context of encanto
