John Edward Thaw, CBE was an English actor who appeared in a range of television, stage, and cinema roles. He starred in the television series Inspector Morse as title character Detective Chief Inspector Endeavour Morse, Redcap as Sergeant John Mann, The Sweeney as Detective Inspector Jack Regan, Home to Roost as Henry Willows, and Kavanagh QC as title character James Kavanagh. Thaw died at the age of 60 in 2002 of oesophageal cancer.
It was Thaw’s Inspector Morse that first introduced me to British television in the 90s and with his a great voice and silver hair. He had me wanting to move to Oxfordshire shack up with him. What? I SO would have. Apparently Thaw was a quiet, private man and his marriage to actress Sheila Hancock was generally regarded as one of the strongest in showbusiness. Damn, now I feel bad about wanting to fuck him. What? I’m not a homewrecker. Just an occasional whore.
