What was the worst job you ever had? I’ve had a bunch of odd office experiences, but one of the things I loathed was the dress code at a few of my first professional jobs. No personal style was encouraged, they just wanted us all buttoned up in stiff suits, so for years I’ve avoided them like the plague. Channeling definite mermaid vibes today with this super cute throwback favorite dress from @diaandco and some mermaid/sea witch inspired hair clips from @puravida . I have a special place in my heart for mermaids, because in my mind even have a mermaid did grow land legs and become part of our world like Ariel, they probably wouldn’t be able to walk, and I love the idea that there is nothing wrong with moving through the world in different ways whether that’s with legs, fins, or a wheelchair! I love this look, but I also want to just put it out there but I did not wake up like this and fashion and beauty are not effortless and it’s time that we talk more about that because pretending that actively engaging in beauty and fashion doesn’t take effort does a disservice to everyone, because it creates the expectation that people owe you being pretty or put together to have the right to exist in the world and they absolutely don’t. I do my hair and make up for me, because I want to, because it makes me feel better and more confident, but I absolutely do not owe anyone looking pretty all the time!

Today I grabbed some old favorites from my closet to make this 50s pinup inspired/40s glamour workwear look. I even came up with a little formula to help you re-create this look for yourself. All you have to do is. take a classic headband and printed fit-and-flare dress then pair them with a bold lip, a cute pair of sneakers, And top it off with some accessories reflect your personal sale, for example I chose a strand of pearls to really play up that vintage glamour look, but there are a lot of different options that would work just as well depending on the vibe you’re going for.

For an extra sweet and feminine feel add a pretty spring inspired manicure, you can paint it yourself using a range of spring colors or grab a gorgeous set of Olive and June press on nails like mine in faded floral

I’m in love, the only problem is it’s currently only available in one color, and while this red is totally gorgeous, I need this formula in every color of the rainbow, please!! I love bright lipstick, but I can be hard to wear as part of every day make up looks, but I’m calling it now @gxvebeauty Is totally going to change the game in that regard and I couldn’t be more excited about the possibilities!!
