I forgot to post here.
I got a proof print of my book in the mail a week or so ago. I am pretty happy with it. A few things i will do differently layout-wise next time, but it’s fine.
Waiting on a foreword and then it will be ready to go. The final came out to like 220 -ish pages.

So I bought a super durable case for my new gopro and tried to get some first person sparring footage.
I unfortunately messed up. It was the first time i’d tried controlling the camera from my phone, and accidentally had it set to timelapse mode. So it’s very low framerate (meaning no image stabilisation) and very long exposure (meaning blurry images)
However, the footage in general shows some promise for what I can come up with if I am less of an idiot next time.
I think i want to aim the camera a little bit more downwards and put it on the highest FoV possible (this was on mid range FoV)

Book beta readers wanted
In hopefully less than one month I will be putting out a complete translation of the “Peter von danzig” commentary on the fencing poetry of Johannes Liechtenauer. It’s from 1452 and it talks about sword fighting in a good lot of detail.
This would be, i suppose, the first time in about 10 years someone released an english translation of all three disciplines (fencing on foot, fencing on horseback, fencing in armour) made by one author/translator rather than each part by a different tranlsator with their own eccentricities.
Ive also made the entire zettel rhyme. Since most translations of it make no sense at all anyway I think it’s at least more useful than many of them.
My target audience is: NORMIES. I use as little opaque jargon as possible. I don’t care to preserve the sentence structure of the German as it is not a language study guide, it’s a fencing guide. The priority is clear readable language that sounds like something a normal person would write. If you fence but find reading the source material a drag THIS IS FOR YOU. I want to help make reading sword books interesting for you.
