I forgot to post here.
I got a proof print of my book in the mail a week or so ago. I am pretty happy with it. A few things i will do differently layout-wise next time, but it’s fine.
Waiting on a foreword and then it will be ready to go. The final came out to like 220 -ish pages.

Prince Thom the Kind

Prince Thom is the son of Queen Sora the Mad, and because of his mother’s actions, he is cursed so that nobody can truly notice or feel anything about him. The curse states that it will only be broken if he can manage to tame a creature of flame.
Spending his life training to fight monsters and break this curse, he becomes quite an incredible rogue with his rapier, and the fact that people can’t quite notice him as much as they should be able to. However with the disappearance of Queen Sora, he must either find his mother, or take the throne upon himself with a people who are hardly able to remember their prince.

I am very behind but I’m happy with how much I’ve managed to do so far this month.
Inktober #4 - Freeze

i am the fighter on the left, in the green tunic.
pardon the shaky video on this one; i tried to clean it up but eh, it works.
my opponent here is fighting case of rapier (two swords). i am fighting single sword, which, counterintuitively, is the perfect form to defeat case. the problem case runs into is keeping track of the blades. unless you are fighting multiple opponents and need to be threatening from two angles, a second long weapon can just get in the way if you aren’t careful. the two have to move together, not one at a time.
i had never fought this person before this very bout, which this clip shows start to finish. my opponent attacks straight off, one blade at a time. this is key. if they’re only attacking one blade at a time it’s just a matter of defending against the active blade while striking with my own, as i do here. obviously this can vary but in the moment i trusted my gut to go for the opening when it came.

i am the fighter on the right.
i’m not usually the one to strike first - i like to bait and counterattack - but when i see an opening i like i’ll commit to it. i usually only make these kinds of attacks if i have a direct plan of how i’ll lock the opposing blade out of the way. here, you see i go up and around the buckler and catch the blade on my quillions, with my off hand as a backup. additionally i’m stepping out to the side so the blade would potentially miss me if both sword and hand failed.

new rapier videos to show! i was at an SCA event over the weekend and got to fight some amazing fencers, and my bouts with this friend here were graciously filmed by a friend of mine, so hurray! i have a couple more clips from that to share, and plenty of photos that i took of the event more generally. i’ll post more soon!
