“…I’m on my knees and the water creeps to my chest. But plant your hope with good seeds

“…I’m on my knees and the water creeps to my chest.
But plant your hope with good seeds,
Don’t cover yourself with thistle and weeds.
Rain down, rain down on me.”
- Mumford and Sons

It’s my good OC: Hölzerne Seele and this piece was commissioned by the lovely @mshy88 !! The story with this character is that: through tragic events, a young girl in green had lost hope in her life and decided to hang herself. Just before the weight was applied on the rope, the branch snapped before she died, causing her lower half to sink in a swamp near the forest. Her legs decomposed, causing them to become nutrition for a large tree nearby and as a result, she was trapped in the woods, unable to be free from the dark murky waters. Unfortunately, through starvation and unheard cries, the girl was no longer alive, yet her soul could not move on and rest because, being entwined with a living tree meant that she was forced to stay embedded in the soil of the earth. Through myth, some say that the girl realised that her life before wasn’t as bad as it seemed compared to the fate she was given afterwards. Such dismay and longing to go back caused Seele to physically tear out her eyes and plant them in the soil. That way, when they decomposed, her eyes became the thistle and weeds which peer in envy at any travellers who had the freedom of living. Some who may have had the misfortune of encountering her, mistake her with a wooden mermaid as the tree looks like the tail of one. And like a mermaid, Seele sings in desperation for somebody to be lured by her sweet song and finally set her free…

Daily Prompt Forty-One

< I choked out a cough as I raised my hand to my still stinging cheek. “You know, you remind me more and more of your father everyday.”>

His face turned a bright shade of red before turning away with his hands above his head. I pulled myself onto my knees straightening my shirt that was stretching from his grip. My cheek was tender and would definitely be bruised. Good. I got to my feet and he turned around sharply. I didn’t fear him, I had faced worse than him and won.

“Don’t leave.” He begged tears spilling down his cheeks.

I flexed my jaw and rolled my eyes. “You lost that privilege the moment your hand touched my cheek.”

“I didn’t mean it.” He fell to his knees in front of my gripping my hips and sobbing into my thigh.

I rested my hand on his head laughing. “You never mean to do bad things, but here they are always happening.”

He clung to my leg like a toddler. “I don’t know what to do anymore.”

I pushed him away stepped out of his grasp. “Well now you are going to have to figure it out by yourself.”

He placed his head in his hands letting out gut wrenching sobs. For a moment there was an instinct to go to him. To push his hair out of his face and kiss his tears away. I even took a step forward. But then my cheek pulsed with pain, reminding me of what exactly lurked beneath his skin, and I took the step back.

“You know I had told myself over and over that you weren’t him. You weren’t the man you were raised to be. You were something good and different.” I said turning away. “I guess I was wrong.”

Author here! Hello this one is a little darker but I’m in a darker mood so here she is. Chapter Two of the Harry Potter Through the Mist series is coming out next week so stay tuned for that. Also just a reminder the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing after.

Daily Prompt Forty

<“Oh she is angry.” I whistled

“How can you tell?” He asked.

“Well you can see her mood by her hands. Like right now, she has a gun. I don’t think that means she is happy to see us.”>

She raised her gun pointing it directly at my chest. “You idiots!” She yelled.

“Oh yeah definitely not happy to see us.” He said.

“In his defense-” I started but she pressed the barrel of the gun to my lips silencing me.

“You don’t get to talk.” She snapped. “And you. I expect this behavior from him, but you?”

“I tried to stop him I really did.” He raised his hands in defense.

She motioned to the completely trashed room. The tables were flipped over and splintered across the floor. Most of the windows were broken and the chandelier was in pieces on the floor. In the mess the men who tried to attack us laid dead or unconscious.

I pushed the gun away from my mouth. “What did you want me to do? Let them kidnap you?” I demanded.

She waved the gun around. “What I wanted you to do is dispense of them quietly. Now we have guests waiting outside not knowing there is a disaster zone inside!”

“You’re still worried about your little party?” I scoffed. “Are you serious?”

“I’m sorry if my job isn’t important to you or you don’t think is worthy of your attention but it is to me. Despite everything that has happened I still have a country to run. You run a country by keeping the people happy. How do you keep people happy?” She reached down and picked up a crushed dirty cupcake. “You give them free food and a party.”

“Your life-” I was interrupted by her shoving the remains of the dessert in my mouth.

I stared at her with my jaw wide open. The velvet cake was sweet with a hint of buttercream but was overpowered by the taste of dirt and iron.

“I cannot believe you just did that.” He gasped covering his mouth with his hands.

I looked at her who stared right back. Her hands proudly on her hips looking defiant as ever. Without even a hint of remorse on her face. I spit out the cupcake at her shoe wiping the frosting off my lips. I saw a fallen cake was near her foot and before she could even blink I had reached down and shoved the entire thing in her face. She screamed backing up wiping the frosting off her face. Her eyes promising war. She grabbed an unopened bottle of champagne, uncorked it, and it spewed right in my face. I growled swiping the bottle out of her hands pushing her back landing in a puddle of pudding and blood.

“Guys!” He said trying to intervene.

She grabbed handful of smushed sandwiches and flung them at me landing right on my chest. She grabbed another cake and threw it hitting my shoulder. I swooped down and grabbed a bunch of rolls throwing them at her like snowballs. She dove over a dead guard behind a table where she found more champagne bottles.

“Guys seriously.” He tried again but we couldn’t hear him.

I leaped over her table tackling her and getting a mouthful of bubbling liquid while I did. I had started laughing and she had too. Finally we both laid on the floor cackling coated in food and grime. Her dress had been ruined along with her hair. Champagne ran down her cheeks and pieces of cake clung to her hair. She looked over at me smiling.

“I’m still mad you know.” She said reaching over and brushing a piece of frosting off my lips.

“I know.” I said.

“So are we going to talk about the guests waiting outside or stay in here throwing food covered in blood at each other?” He asked leaning over the table.

Her and I both locked eyes and smiled deviously. We both grabbed a nearby cake and threw it right at his face sending him flying backwards. We laughed together the party outside being the last thing on our minds.

Author here! Hello as you noticed I posted the most recent Through the Mist piece this morning so go ahead and give that a gander. I hope you enjoyed this one it was light and cute. Reminder the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing afterward. Thanks for reading!

Daily Prompt Thirty-Nine

<“He’s like the sun.” I sighed.

“Beautiful?”

“No, I can’t stand to look at him.” I snapped.>

“Alright I can see we are still a bit touchy.” She laughed.

I glared at her clutching onto the coffee mug in front of me. My knuckles were white against the hot ceramic. Touchy? Of course I was still touchy. Everyone would be touchy after what he did to me.

“Come on,” She reached across the table setting a hand on my forearm. “In all fairness he was the one who got you out of the dungeons.”

“After putting me there in the first place!” I spat.

“Fair enough.” She shrugged glancing at the clock on the wall. “He is going to be here any minute to pick you up.”

I pushed the mug away standing. “If that arrogant little weasel thinks I am going anywhere with him he is sorely mistaken.”

“I’ll go in your place.” She sat up a little too enthusiastically. I shot her a look. “Kidding, I was only kidding.”

I paced back in forth behind the couch. He was supposed to be here any minute. That was assuming he’d show up. What would I do if he showed up? I looked at my front door. Did I want him to show up?

No, of course not.

“Stop pacing, you’re stressing me out.” She sighed.

“I’m not pacing.” I snapped.

There was a knock on the door. My heart leaped into my throat and I was frozen in my spot. I wasn’t dressed for a party. I was in my pajamas, I hadn’t even brushed my hair…

“Are you going to get that?” She asked.

I snapped into action and walked over to the door opening it. My heart deflated when I saw it was just a delivery man. He was holding what looked like a garment bag.

“I have an order here for 342 Northwood Ln.” The man said presenting me with the bag.

“Um, no.” But before I could say anymore he turned and walked back to his truck.“

I tossed the bag on the table and sank into my chair.

"You were excited.” She noted carefully unzipping the bag.

“No I wasn’t.” I said.

“Oh my god.” She gasped pulling out a dress.

It was the prettiest thing I had ever seen. It was a soft blue with a lacy top embroidered with flowers and butterflies. The skirt was a sheen silk that was shorter in the front and longer in the back. It was sophisticated and elegant.

“Did you order this?” I asked touching the soft fabric.

“No, look there is a note.” She pulled it out and handed it to me.

I opened it and read: “I figured an illegal beach party wasn’t the best way for me to apologize. Slip into this and I’ll see you in 40 minutes. From your favorite royal.”

She squealed shoving the dress in my arms. “If you don’t go put this on right now I am going to.”

I hugged the dress against my chest and ran upstairs to hide my bright red cheeks and the smile growing on my face.

Author here! So this one is just something cute I wrote. I know its not angst or sexy but it made my heart warm. If you wanted to go back and read Daily Prompt OneandDaily Prompt Eight it is sort of a continuation off of those two. Just a reminder the prompts will always be in <> with my original writing afterwards. Thanks for reading!

Daily Prompt Thirty-Eight

<“Did you really not see it?” I demanded tears dripping off my chin. “Or were you just afraid to look?”>

He just stood there, looking broken. Good. It was exactly what I felt everyday.

“How could you stand there everyday watching me fall apart and do nothing. Everything has been taken from me. My pride, my dignity, my life. Everything.” I sobbed wrapping my arms around myself. “And you, you just stood there. You ignored it. The one person in my life I’m supposed to rely on.”

“I-”

“You’re what? You’re sorry?” I mocked choking on a sob. “There is nothing you can say right now to make this right. Nothing.”

“I don’t know what you want me to do here.” He sighed.

“I WANT YOU TO CARE!” I screamed choking on my tears. “I WANT YOU TO LOOK AT ME AND SEE ME!”

“I see you.” He stepped forward placing his hands on either side of my face.

I gripped his wrists tightly holding them in place and glared at him. “What exactly do you see? You know what I see every time I look in the mirror? An ugly, dirty, piece of garbage. Ever since that night that is all I see. That is all anyone sees.”

He pulled me closer. “I don’t see that. I see someone who has been through hell. I see someone who has crawled through the mud. I see someone who is still alive by sheer will. I see someone who even after everything she thought was important was thrown back in her face refuses to back down.”

“Pretty words.” I spat pushing him away turning around.

“They aren’t just words.” He reached for my hand stopping me.

I spun back around. “Then prove it. Prove that they are more than words.”

“How?” He asked pleading.

I pulled my hand out of his grasp. “I don’t know. Figure it out.”

Hello! This one is a little angsty but I’ve been frustrated lately so this is what I got for you. I hope you like it. Don’t forget to check out my Through the Mist post for this week! Reminder the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing afterwards.

Daily Prompt Thirty-Seven

< “Hello, darling. We are long over do for a chat.”> She purred sliding into the booth across from me.

I groaned leaning back against the seat, trying to put as much space between her and I as I could.

“What do you want?” I growled.

She flicked her vibrant blonde hair behind her catching the light of the dim bar as she did. “Why so rude? You aren’t still mad are you?” She batted those long lashes at me.

I leaned forward pressing my forearms into the table. “Oh course I’m still mad. You not only humiliated me in front of the whole court but you also had the audacity to play it off like it was somehow my fault.”

She bit her bottom lip that was coated in bright red lipstick. The color should have been called blow me red because there was one thing on men’s minds when they saw it on her lips.

She reached across the table resting her perfectly manicured hand on my arm. “I was just in a mood. You can’t blame a girl for having moods.”

“Yes I can when those moods happen to affect me.” I pulled my arm away to rest it on my lap.

She furrowed her brows causing her bright blue eyes to darken. “It wasn’t personal and it wasn’t even that big a deal.”

“I was to me.” I said as I motioned to the waiter for the bill.

Her arm moved so fast it was a blur as it wrapped around my wrist. She normal perfect posture was shaky and the look in her eyes was feral. Like an injured animal caught in a corner.

“You can’t walk away from me.” She hissed.

I rolled my eyes throwing two twenties on the table. Screw the waiter. I delicately grabbed her wrist and pulled her off me. I stood up straightening my black suit and gave her a glance up and down. At one point this girl was my whole world. Now I had no idea what I had seen in her.

“I have to go,” I said. “I have a date.”

Author here! Am I procrastinating editing my novel by writing on my Tumblr? Maybe. Do I care? Not particularly. Sorry this one is low key boring but I need the practice so here she is. Note that the prompt will always be in <> and my original writing after. Thanks for reading!

Daily Prompt Thirty-Six

<“People can do worse things than kill you.”> The man in the adjacent cell said his eyes hollow of any life and his voice barely a whisper.

I huffed leaning my head back against the wall. “Oh I am sure they are going to try.”

He muttered something under his breath I couldn’t catch and shuffled away to the corner of his cell. I rolled my eyes. Weak. I examined the shackles that were strapped to both my wrists. They were solid iron and caked with some else’s blood. My skin underneath the cold metal was rubbed raw, stinging with every small movement. How long had I been here? Hours, days, I was losing track with the lack of windows. Nothing but the trickling light of a candle filtering underneath the door.

“If someone is going to kill me you best get it over with.” I called.

The man’s head snapped up and he shook his head no with wide eyes.

“Come on you really scared of a little girl.” I called out again, taunting. “I know you’re out there.” I sang.

The man pressed himself further into corner trying to disappear in the shadows. I grabbed the empty metal cup and threw it at the door. The bang was so loud I must have woken up the four cells next to me. I finally heard the shuffle of footsteps outside and the grumble of a voice. I tested the chains that were bolted to the wall. I could get in maybe five feet of the door. The door swung open with a mighty crack, banging into the bars behind it, shaking the cage.

“Pipe down, or I’ll make you pipe down.” He growled from the door.

He was huge, well over six foot. He filled the entire doorway with his broad shoulder. His armor barely keeping his stomach in. I noted the jangling of keys hanging from his hip. I smiled.

“Wow you are one big fella.” I said. “I’m surprised you aren’t out of breath from the walk down here.”

His face turned red and his fist tightened at the black barbed baton at his side.

“I’m actually surprised they even let you into the Knight Guard. Oh wait don’t tell me. You used to be muscular and strong but the years of fucking and drinking got away from you. So, now you are down here in the dungeons shutting up little girls who talk too loud?” I taunted.

“Oh I am about to shut you up.” He said walking into the room.

I sprung. I leaped off the floor onto the bed swinging myself on his shoulder. I wrapped the chain once, twice around his meaty throat and pulled with all my might. He swung his baton at me and I barely felt how the barbs sank into my legs and back. He tried yanking me off and running into walls but I held on tighter. Until finally he stopped in the middle of the room sinking to his knees and eventually face planting into the floor. I held on for a couple more second until I was sure he was dead.

I untangled myself from the giant and grabbed the keys from his belt. It took me a couple minutes to find the right key but eventually my shackles fell to the floor. I groaned in relief twisting my wrists with their newfound freedom. I glanced over at the man in the next cell. He was gaping at me. I gave him a wink and slipped out the door and into the night.

Author here! Hello to all the new followers that have joined our little club. Glad you could make it. I’m getting close to 100 and I’m not sure what I should do for it. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Well I hoped you liked today’s prompt. It’s a little different then what I usually do but I enjoyed it. Reminder the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing after it. Thanks for reading, love you guys!

Daily Prompt Thirty-Five

< “I didn’t know you smoked.” I said watching him take a long drag of a vape.

“Sometimes we need to kill ourselves a little just to stay alive.” The smoke curled from his lips leaving the room in a smoky haze.

“So, which part are you killing tonight?” I asked swirling the glass of bourbon in front of me.

“Fear.”

“Fear of what?”

“You.”>

I laughed taking a long drink of the burning alcohol, draining the glass. “Am I really that intimidating?”

He looked me up and down slowly. “Not physically.”

I pushed the glass of ice away tapping the bar for the bartender to pour me another. “Then what is there to be afraid of?”

He look another hit of the vape leaning back in his chair. His raven black hair was down curling just above his shoulder. He wasn’t in his usual uniform of a suit and dress shoes. Instead it was just a pair of faded blue jeans and a white t-shirt and somehow it made him look hotter. He set the vape on the bar and slid it over to me. It spun to land right in front of me. Smoke still curling from the mouth piece.

“You drive me crazy.” He finally said turning his chair to face me. “The way your smile is seared into my head. The way you tears burn my heart when I see them. The way your ass fits perfectly in those jeans. The way your laugh lights up a room. The way your fist wraps around a gun so perfectly. The way you move, the way you breath. It gets my heart racing. I’m not afraid of you, I’m afraid of what you do to me.”

I didn’t dare look at those dark brown eyes as they studied my face. I twirled the vape in my hand. Feeling the lingering heat from his hold. I waited a couple second before placing the vape to my lips breathing in the cool minty haze. Then I blew it out and watched the smoke curl around his face unflinching.

“Maybe I’m afraid of what you do to me too.”

Author here! Look at me posting two days in a row. Now that I have caught up with school I have had a lot more free time to write. I hope you enjoyed this one it is much more sultry and lowkey. Just a reminder that the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing afterwards. Thanks so much for reading!

Daily Prompt Thirty-Three

<“I think I actually hate you,” I muttered.

“I am going to pretend I didn’t hear that.”>

The sun had set casting the sky in a blanket of darkness peppered with stars. Everyone had left the party, the only two people left were me and him and a low burning fire of coals in front of us.

“I can’t believe you lost the keys.” I poked the dying flames with a stick sending sparks hovering in the air.

“Hey I didn’t lose them, they were stolen.” He argued.

I glanced over at the truck that was parked under the tree. “Yeah they stole your keys but had no interest in the truck.”

He shrugged. “Hey I don’t know how a thief’s mind works.”

I rolled my eyes. A night breeze whispered through the trees wrapping around me like an icy shawl. I was wearing jean shorts and a crop top. Not exactly the best clothes to be stranded in the middle of nowhere.

“Maybe I left them at the park.” He suggested motioning behind me.

A children’s playground and water pad was behind us. During the day is was filled with kids and families but once the sun began lowering in the skies it was ours. I got to my feet dusting off the dirt that clung to my legs.

“I swear you already checked there but sure.” I began walking over to the park.

His laid his arm across my shoulders giving me his signature debonair smile. “You always were a better finder than me.”

I brushed off his arm. “That’s because you never actually look for things.”

He laughed and we entered the park. “You check the water pad and I’ll check the swings.”

“Whatever. The water pad is off right?” I asked tiptoeing around the spouts that were on the ground.

“Totally, it’s like 1am.” He called behind me.

The last thing I needed was to get wet. I ducked under rainbow pipes that dripped with condensation. Then, literally right in the middle of the pad were his keys.

“Idiot.” I grumbled to myself walking over and picking them up.

“Hey!” He called out behind me.

I spun around to see him standing next to a post with a big red button on it.

“Don’t you dare.” I growled.

He winked at me before pressing the button. Instantly the water pad came to life. Jets of water sprung up beneath me, the buckets of water tipped over and drenched me to the bone. I ran trying my best to avoid the jets but it was already too late at that point. I was too busy looking at my feet to notice I ran right into him. He was standing there as soaked as I was with a huge smile on his face.

“You idiot!” I yelled punching him in the shoulder.

He only laughed. “Come on it’s kind of funny.”

“Funny? We are both soaking wet and about the freeze and you think this is funny?” I demanded.

He brushed the pad of his thumb along my cheek wiping away the dripping water. “You know you are pretty cute when you’re mad.”

“You would know that’s for sure.” I said trying to keep the smile from crawling on my face.

“You know, we are already wet.” He said.

“And?”

“Let’s have a little fun shall we?” He asked.

“No I don’t think we shall-” I started but he grabbed me around the waist lifting me up and carrying me back through the water pad.

I should have been furious as my clothes and hair got more and more wet but instead I was laughing. I wrapped my arms around his neck and titled my head back as we ran through the water. The moon was reflecting of the droplets on his face making it look like it was encrusted with diamonds. He was beautiful. He stopped right beneath the bucket of water as it slowly began to fill. I placed my hands on either sides of his face and pulled him into a kiss. Not a moment too soon because we were drenched with water in the next second. I laughed against his lips and he pulled me closer.

Maybe it wasn’t so bad that he lost the keys after all.

Author here! Man this one was cute and is low key based off something that happened to me in highschool so enjoy that. I hope you all like it and thank you so much for your support. Reminder the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing after it. Thanks for reading!

Daily Prompt Thirty-Two

<“Why do you keep risking your life?” He demanded. “To prove a point?”

“Yes.”>

“Why? What could possibly be the point you are trying to prove?” He stepped forward raising his hands in the air.

I refused to step back looking him dead in the eyes. “The point I am trying to prove is that I don’t need you to save me. I don’t need anyone to save me.”

“I just saved you not but five minutes ago!” He pointed out.

“I never asked you to do that.” I snapped.

“You dangling from a cliff by one hand is asking for help.” He said.

“I had it handled.”

“Oh yeah, you going off by yourself to face an army ten times stronger and more powerful than you is really handling it.” He laughed.

God I just wanted to slap him. “I would have figured something out.”

“Yeah you would have figured out dying.” He crossed his arms.

“Whatever I don’t need this.” I turned away ignoring the burning tears prickling at the corners of my eyes.

“Don’t turn your back on me.” He reached out gripping my shoulder.

That was enough. I had taken ridicule, humiliation, and belittling for the last time. No one thought I could do anything. I was tired of being seen as a little girl way in over her head. I grabbed his forearm, bending forward, and pulled him over my shoulder. I had caught him off balance and by surprise as his body flew over mine and crashed into the ground in front of me. Before he could blink I pounced. I pulled out the knife that was strapped in my boot and pressed it against his throat straddling his waist. Which would have been embarrassing if I wasn’t seriously contemplating ripping open his throat.

We both sat there panting, his eyes were locked with mine. He looked shocked but also frustrated. He opened his mouth to talk but I pressed the cold steel harder against his throat silencing him. From the corner of my eye I could see guards running forward. He put his hand up motioning them to stop.

“Stop looking at me like that.” I snapped.

“Like what?” He asked calmly.

“Like I’m some wild animal you are trying to calm down.” I seethed.

“Well you just attacked me and now are pressing a knife into my throat. If that isn’t wild I don’t know what is.” He smirked.

God did I want to just cut his throat.

“Stop it.” I said.

“Stop what?” His smirk still held strong on his face.

“That stupid smile.” I growled shifting forward to press the knife harder.

That was my mistake. He used the shift in momentum to buck his hips. He grabbed my torso, interlocking his legs with mine twisting us over making my back hit the ground with enough force to knock the wind out of me. He grabbed my wrists and dung them into the ground causing the knife to clatter out of my hand. The advantage I had was lost. He was six inches taller than me and pure muscle. There was no escaping this. I screamed in frustration kicking my legs under him.

“Are you done now?” He asked.

“I am going to kill you. The moment you let me up I am going to kill you.” I growled spitting in his face.

He sighed. “I am going to be honest with you right now. You are one of the best warriors we have. You are cunning, quick, and powerful but you are unbelievably stupid and reckless. No one doubts that you could take a whole army by yourself. But you shouldn’t have to. We are a team and we face things together.”

I hated the fact that he was making a good point. Especially about me being the best.

“When the team makes a plan we need everyone to execute it. When I say go left, you go left. If I saw take up the rear it isn’t because I think you are the weak link we need to protect. I mean that you are the only person I trust to have my back.” He continued.

I flexed my hands that were losing feeling as his grip was cutting of the circulation.

“Now I will let you up on two conditions.” He said.

I rolled my eyes waiting for him to continue.

“Condition number one, you don’t kill me when I get off you.” He said.

I let out a long breath. “Fine.”

“Condition number two, you leave behind your insufferable ego and work with me.” He said.

I glared at him and bit the inside of my cheek. “Fine.”

“Great.” He stood up releasing my wrists.

I sat up on my forearms glaring daggers at the back of his head. He turned and smiled reaching out offering his hand. I easily could have grabbed him and yanked him back onto the ground and put him in a choke hold. I looked at his hand still coated in dirt and blood. This war wasn’t about having to like him, it was about winning. I couldn’t win without him. So I gripped his hand and let him pull me to my feet.

But that also didn’t mean I had to trust him.

Author here! Wow guys this has been a long break which is totally my bad. Classes are difficult and I also went on vacation. But I am on winter break right now so I am ready to get back to it! Reminder that the prompt is located in <> with my original writing afterwards. Thank you for your patience and I hope you enjoy.

Daily Prompt Thirty-One

<“If you do that again, I’ll throw you out the fucking window.” I snarled. “What are you doing?”

“Checking to see how high the drop is, see if it’s worth it.” He mused leaning against the glass. >

“God you’re insufferable.” I crossed my arms turning away from him.

“I’m aware.” He said laughing.

“You always think you are right, or that your plans are the best, or somehow every idea out of my mouth is stupid.” I said.

“Well I am, they are, and that’s true.” He agreed.

I spun around to smack him but before my hand could make contact he snatched my wrist. “Careful love wouldn’t want to push me out a window would we?”

“You have no idea how happy that’ll make me.” I pulled against his grip but he held firm.

“The only reason I don’t like your plans because they always put you in the most danger. You are so willing to jump in front of a train for others when they wouldn’t do the same for you. Why are you so eager to die for a cause that will carry on without you?” He demanded.

I pulled against his grip again and he let go. “Even if the cause carries on without me at least it will carry on. It’s not about me or you its about doing what is right. If me dying is what is right then so be it.”

He stepped forward cupping my face in his hands. “You dying is never right.”

I ignored the spread of butterflies in my stomach and pushed him away. “You are selfish, you will always be selfish.”

“If selfish is what is keeping you alive then so be it.” He shrugged.

I looked at him with his honey locks of hair tied up out of his face. The way a smirk always hung off his lips. The way his melted copper eyes always held a hint of mischief. There was something bubbling within me. Something hot and gooey that made my arms go numb. It made me feel alive and maybe even agree with what he was saying. So, I did the only logical thing.

I pushed him out the window.

Author here! Hey guys I hope you had a great thanksgiving mine was amazing. Sorry about the little hiatus but I am now back and focused as ever. Daily Prompt Thirty

< “You act like you’re indestructible, but you’re not.”

“Guess you’d know best, huh?” >

“Seeing as I’m the one always stitching you back together, yes.” I sighed weaving the needle through his bleeding skin.

He laughed. “You always do such an amazing job too.”

“Maybe I should stop doing such a good job and then maybe you’ll stop trying to get yourself killed.” I dug the needle a little deeper then I needed to causing him to flinch.

“Easy love.” He winced. “I don’t try to get myself killed. I’m a warrior it comes with the territory.”

“Maybe you aren’t that good of a warrior.” I pointed out.

He smiled. “I happen to be the best warrior.”

“Do the best warriors always get gaping chest wounds?” I asked tying off the string.

“It was a lucky swing. I decapitated him right after.” He said.

“Lovely.” I grimaced.

He sat up admiring the long sew up cut along his chest. “Yet another wonderful job.”

I lathered the cut with a salve to keep infection and rot out of the wound. After I did I wiped my hands and stood up to leave. He reached out and grabbed my hand holding me in place.

“Where are you going?” He asked.

“There are other great warriors who need my attention.” I said.

He pulled me forward and I stumbled into his lap. “I am the only warrior who needs your attention.”

He smelled like blood and iron but somehow still seemed to be handsome. His black hair slicked back away from his face. His bright brown eyes held a glint of hunger. I was straddling him and my skirts were bunched up around my waist. His hot breath mixed with my own.

“You need a bath.” I said lowly.

“You could help me with that?” He suggested wrapping his arms around my waist pulling me closer. “What if I ripped my stitches open?”

“What you are planning on doing could definitely open you stitches.” I wrapped my arms around his neck.

“A risk I’m willing to take.” His face inched closer with just a breath between us.

I looked into his feral copper eyes. Of course I could lean forward and close the space between us. But that is exactly what he wanted. I leaned in slipping past his lips to his ear.

“Take a bath then come talk to me.” I whispered and he shuddered at my words.

I slipped off him before he could blink and ducked out of the tent. I couldn’t help the heat that spread to my cheeks as I wondered how fast it would take him to find me.

Daily Prompt Twenty-Nine

< “When did you become the hero?”

“Um… the moment I saved you from getting killed.” He smiled.

“You are the last person on earth I wanted to save me.” I scoffed.

“Well sucks to be you doesn’t it.” He said. >

I laughed turning away from him. He reached forward grabbing my forearm lightly pulling me back.

“Hey don’t I get some reward now?” He asked. “Maybe a kiss or something.”

I swatted the side of his head. “God you are unbelievable. Next time I’m falling to my death do me a favor and just let me hit the ground.”

“Oh, then who would I have to annoy all day?” He said playfully.

“I don’t know some other poor soul.” I crossed my arms.

He stood up stepping a little too close to me. “Secretly deep down you know you love it.”

“I think secretly deep down I’m pretty sure I still hate you.” I snapped back.

He laughed, his chest brushing against mine. I could have stepped back or turned away. But something kept me planted to the floor.

“Are you always this fiery towards people who saved your life?” He asked.

“I do my best to save my own life actually.” I huffed.

He leaned down so I could see the swirling mixture of molten bronze in his eyes. “I think you let yourself fall off the building.”

I rolled my eyes. “Why would I do that?”

“For my attention.”

“Bold of you to assume that is something I want.” I said quietly his smell of juniper and the sea intoxicating me.

He tilted his head so his nose brushed past mine. Our words danced on each others lips.

“Oh I know you do.” He whispered.

“How so?” My breaths were coming out faster.

“The way our eyes catch each others across the room. The way your mouth twitches with a smile when I’m talking to you. The way your blood boils when we touch. The fact that we are barely an inch apart and you haven’t moved at all.” He taunted.

“Maybe it’s you who wants my attention.” I straightened, our lips almost touching as I moved.

“The way when I glance at you and I find you already looking at me. The way you find a way to talk to me no matter the situation. The way you hand always finds a way to touch mine. The fact that you are standing this close to me in the first place and are too much of a coward to get any closer.” I said.

He looked at me before glancing down at my lips. I had called him a coward and I was waiting for his next move. He had five seconds to kiss me. On the six second I stepped away feeling colder as I did. I turned and walked away leaving him gaping at me like a hungry dog.

Two can play at this game.

Author here! Just something a little spicy to start off your morning. I hope you enjoyed it because it was a blast to write. Sexual tension is always a favorite of mine to write. Reminder the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing after. Thanks for reading!

Daily Prompt Twenty-Eight

< “Stop doing that.” He said.

“Doing what?” I asked innocently.

“Saying things that make me want to kiss you.”>

I brushed a strand of hair out of my face smiling at him. “Maybe I want you to kiss me.”

His eyebrows raised. “Oh really?”

I shrugged leaning against the boardwalk looking out onto the horizon. He stood next to me leaning against it as well. Our shoulders pressing against each other.

“Like right now?” He asked.

I laughed letting the rays of the setting sun warm my face. “Only if you feel up to it.” I smiled.

He turned to look at me his brown eyes filling with the lasting light. “Oh I am always up for it.”

He leaned forward and his lips found mine. The kiss was slow and loving filling my stomach with butterflies. I ran my hands through his hair pulling him against me. This kiss wasn’t the usual fast paced passion but rather tentative like we had all the time in the world. His tongue dragged against mine in smooth easy stokes. I wanted to melt into him. His arms were wrapped tightly around my waist crushing me against his chest. I lightly bit on his lower lip sending a shiver through his body.

It was nothing but us and the setting sun that melted the the whole world around us.

Daily Prompt Twenty Seven

<He stood there will tormented eyes. Shivering under the wind. Only a whisper away.

“Stay.”>

I stopped dead in my tracks letting the rain soak through my hair. “What?” I whispered back.

He reached out and grabbed my hand. “I said, stay.”

I turned around facing him. “How could you ask me to stay?”

“Just like this.” He squeezed my hand. “Stay.”

“After everything, after all this you want me to stay here with you?” I asked.

“Yes.” He nodded breathless his hair matted and pressed around his face. Little droplets slipped off his eyelashes and down his cheeks. I guess they could have been tears too. “Even after everything that has happened, everything we have put each other through I want you here with me. You are the only person in this world I can get through this with.”

“Why me?” I asked wiping away my own tears.

“Because you make me feel something. After years of being hollow and empty and cold you make me full again. I feel anger anytime I see you talking to another guy. I feel sad when I see you cry. I feel happy when you smile at me. I haven’t felt anything in so long and with you I feel everything. You bring color and life back into me. I can’t lose that, I can’t lose you.” He said.

I looked down at our intertwined hands. Despite the cold breeze that brushed around us my skin was hot. I tugged him closer, our chests pressing into each other.

“You make me feel something too.” I whispered against his lips.

“I should have told you this a long time ago.” He pressed his forehead against mine. “I love you.”

That’s when I kissed him. I threaded my fingers through his hair crushing his lips against mine. If I was hot before I was on fire now. Where his hands pressed against my lower back, where our chests touched, when his lips melted with mine I was on fire. No matter what happened next or what tried to tear us apart we would have this moment. A moment where we held each other in the rain and let it wash away everything else around us.

Author here! Ah thank you for the love on my Through the Mist post number two. I had so much fun writing it and I had fun writing this one too. Oh to have someone profess their love and kiss me in the rain right? Well, anyways I hope you enjoyed it. Reminder that the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing after. Daily Prompt Twenty-Six

<You’re a weapon and weapons don’t weep.> The generals voice slipped into my head.

But then why was I crying?

The moment the battle had ended I had walked straight off the battlefield. I ignored the cheers and the claps on the back from passing warriors. I ignored the call of the general that beckoned forward. I had even ignored my friends worried faces. I had ignored them all and had walked straight to my tent. The moment the tent flap was closed I sank to me knees tears already running down my face.

I wanted to scream and cry. I wanted to yell so loudly that my throat would go hoarse with blood. I wanted to hit something or throw something. But the tent walls were thin so I sat on my heels and let the tears fall silently. It was numbing. I could feel their sticky blood that coated my arms and face. It burned just as their screams did in my head. I got up and quickly walked over to my wash bowl. I dunked my hands in watching the cool clear water turn angry with blood. I scrubbed and scrubbed as if somehow if the blood was gone so would the deeds that caused it. I was well aware of how frantic I was clawing at my own skin like a wild animal. I just wanted them to stop. Their screams, their moans, their desperate pleas for mercy. But mercy wasn’t in my nature so I never gave it. My breathing was so rapid I thought I would pass out. But the blood wasn’t coming off. It was caked to my hands like a second skin.

Please!

No, I beg of you!

Mercy, have mercy!

I have a family please let me go home to my family!

They grew louder and louder drowning out my own thoughts. I clutched my head as the pressure was becoming unbearable. I fell to my knees at the water bowl and made eye contact with the monster reflection that looked back at me. I side swiped the whole thing sending bloody water flying. I rocked back and forth on my knees. I hit my head over and over desperately trying to shut them out.

Two hands rested on my back. I snapped upright afraid of who I might see but it was just her. She was in her warrior leathers that were clean and untouched. Her sword was strapped to her side. Her cinnamon brown hair was pulled back into a tight braid framing her beautifully sharp face. Her eyes were a honey brown but they were dark in this light. A smooth onyx against her tanned skin.

She didn’t say anything. She just opened her arms and I sank right into them. She was warm and smelled like nutmeg and honey. I breathed her in and with every breath the voices died. She stroked my back and with every touch my skin burned less. We didn’t speak as my gut wrenching sobs faded into hiccuped breaths. We didn’t say anything for a long time. Nothing but us and the echoing screams of the vanquished.

Daily Prompt Twenty-Five

<“The world breaks you into pieces, and you come to me every night for comfort. Who do you think I am, your mistress?”

“My home.”>

My heart melted at the two words. His home. After everything he’s done. After all of the terrible things he had seen. He had always come to me. Not because I was easy or that I was convenient. He came to me because I was his home.

“You home?” I asked taking a step forward.

“Yes, you are the only person that gives me any sense of home. You are the only one that holds me and for once I feel at peace. It’s not this apartment or my house its you. It has always been you.” He sighed.

I took another step forward and cupped his face in my hands. “That is probably the most romantic thing you have ever said to me.”

He shrugged. “It’s the truth.”

I wrapped my arms around his neck, burying myself in his shoulder. His arms wrapped around my waist lifting me up and holding me close. I could feel a shudder go through his body. Shedding away the crushing weight he held himself under. He smelled like oak and jasmine and it clung to my clothes as he held me. He walked us over to the bed and laid us down. It wasn’t sexual it was just two people holding each other in the dark that was the world.

“I need these off.” He played with the bottom of my sweater.

I was happy to oblige. His shirt and my sweater were disregarded on the floor. We were skin to skin letting our warmth melt into each other. I traced circles on his back as he breathed into my neck. Occasionally he would pepper whatever skin he could reach with kisses. It sent shivers all across my body and a smile slithered across my lips.

What I had failed to tell him was that he was my home too.

Author here! Just another daily installment of my writing prompt series. This one was just a cute little one that I had some personal inspiration to write. I hope you all have a good week! Reminder the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing afterwards. Thank you for reading!

Daily Prompt Twenty-Four

<“Silly girl, can’t you see the truth right in front of you? This is his little kingdom, and you are not his Queen anymore.”> He cooed.

I gripped the balcony railing so tight my knuckles turned white. “You don’t know that.” I whispered.

“Oh,Iknow that.” He said running his hands through my hair. “The question is, do you know that?”

I looked out onto the bustling kingdom. The streets were packed with people for the tournament. Beggars roamed across the streets with an outstretched can. Whores hung around the entrance of their brothels wearing barely enough clothing to shield them from the unforgiving sun. Knights marched along the roads paving a way through the busy crowds. Of course I was still his Queen. Nothing has really changed. Has it?

“Why are you here?” I demanded.

“I’m here to give you an offer.” He leaned against the railing next to me.

“You could continue living in this dull fantasy. Planning parties and ignoring the whispers of servants behind you back. Blocking out the vicious rumors about your King.” He picked a flower from the vine that wrapped itself around the bannister. “Or you could come with me.”

“Come with you?” I scoffed. “And do what?”

“Be my Queen.”

“The Queen of what? Your little desert tribe in the middle of nowhere. With no castle, no money, and no allies. The very one my King is planning on conquering.” I asked.

“I like to keep my kingdom nothing more than a whisper of rumors.” He extended the flower to me. “What if I told you we were so much more than that?”

“What do you get out of this?” I asked pushing his hand away.

His other hand snaked around my waist pulling me against him. The smell of vanilla and mahogany filled my nose. His breath brushed against my lips as they hovered just inches from mine. My stomach seemed to melt into a puddle of molten ore.

“I would have a Queen as lovely as yourself. One that could match me at my intellectual level. Someone who could challenge my decisions and make me a better King. Someone who my men would go to war for.” He whispered against my lips.

I had no words just my breath against his. What he offered me was everything I had ever desired. The Queen I was now was nothing more than a party planner with a title. What he wanted from me was power, a power I had. I looked out onto the city again. Could I leave it all behind? My whole world, the place I had grown up in? For some tall and dark stranger I had met a month ago?

There was a moment of silence where there was nothing but us. His molten silver eyes analyzing mine waiting for my answer. I also had no idea if anything he was saying was true. His so called kingdom was shrouded in mystery. No one had ever been there or seen it. It could just be a tribe of twenty people in huts for all I knew.

“What if I gave you a taste? A little glimpse into what my kingdom was like?” He suggested.

“What would stop me from telling the King everything I saw?” I asked.

He shrugged his chest pressing into mine. “I guess nothing. I’ll just have to trust you.”

“That’s bold of you to trust someone you barely know.” I pointed out.

“I plan on trusting you with ruling my kingdom by my side. Giving you a glimpse of that shouldn’t be too hard.” He said.

“Okay.” I said impulsively. “Show me your world and I’ll decide if I’m suited enough to fit in it.”

He smiled squeezing me closer. “I would hold on if I was you.”

Then we gone nothing but a trail of smoke traveling to a place that I might rule. Or maybe into a trap that would be the downfall of my kingdom.

Author here! Hope you enjoyed the first installment of my weekly series! Next week will be a different universe I haven’t decided which yet. But here is a little prompt that I cooked up I hope you guys like. Reminder the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing after it. Thanks for reading!

Daily Prompt Twenty-Three

< “How many time do you think a heart can break?”> I asked.

He looked at me a loss for words. He was standing there looking almost as broken as I felt.

“How many times do you think I can take this?” I asked again. “How many times do you think I can just let you back in? You make the same mistakes over and over and I just keep forgiving them.”

“I know.”

“Do you? Do you understand that with every bad decision you make I am the one who suffers the consequences?” I laughed. “Wow how everyone must think I am an idiot.”

“You aren’t.” He took a step forward.

I took a step back. “Aren’t I though? I keep forgiving you thinking that you will change and for once in your life make the right choice. When am I going to wake up and realize that you won’t. You will never change, you will never make the right choice.”

“This time is different.” He argued.

“How? How will it be different?” I demanded. “Let’s say I forgive this. Let’s say we go back to how things were. Sure, for the first few weeks you will be the perfect boyfriend. You will hold my hand, you will take me out on dates, you will shower me with gifts and praise. Then you hit that turning point where temptation becomes too great for you.”

His eyes were the stormy grey of the ocean. Unsettled and wild. He looked so defeated. As he should, it was how I felt.

“I’ll tell you right now how many times a heart can break.” I said finally. “As many time as you have hurt me up until now. My heart can’t take anymore.”

“Do you still love me?” He asked quietly.

“Of course I still love you!” I exclaimed. “But for once in my life I think it is time I choose to love me more.”

He scowled and ran his hands through his hair.

“I am out of chances to give you.” I folded my arms against my chest hot tears rolling down my cheeks smearing my foundation.

I turned and I walked away. I didn’t expect him to follow me, and he didn’t. It was high time that I stopped chasing him. If he wanted me. He was going to have to earn me.

Author here! It was my birthday yesterday so sorry for not posting. This one is a little sadder but I hope you guys still enjoyed it. Be on the lookout for my first installment of my weekly series. I’m not sure what I am going to call it just yet but I do know what book universe we will be going into first. Reminder the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing after. Thanks for reading!

Daily Prompt Twenty-Two

<I’d be his, if he asked. > I thought to myself while I was laying on his chest.

We were on the couch my legs draped over his. My head nestled right under his chin while his arm wrapped around my shoulder. His other hand was intertwined in mine. The pad of his thumb lazily traced patterns on my palm. He smelled like the forest and jasmine. I stopped watching the movie a while ago my eyes heavy in his warmth.

We weren’t official or anything. We were in the stage of just being in each other’s presence. It was clear we liked each other. We looked at each other a little too long to be friends. I lifted my chin up to place a kiss on his neck. His attention diverted from the T.V.

“That’s dangerous.” He said.

A planted another kiss just above my other one. “What is?”

His hand traveled down my back. “What you are doing.”

“And what exactly am I doing?” I trailed the bottom on my lip up his neck to his ear. “I’m just sitting here, minding my own business.”

“Are you now.” He chuckled.

“Is what I am doing a problem for you?” I whispered in his ear.

His body shuddered and he coughed. “No not at all. I just thought you wanted to finish this movie.”

“When do we ever finish a movie?” I laughed.

His hands gripped my hips and pulled me on top of him. He sat up so I straddled him and my lips found his. At first they were soft, light kisses that made me want to smile. But as they grew they were deeper and greedier. He threatened to take the air right out of my lungs. I didn’t mind.

My hands were tangled in his hair my nails dragging against his scalp. His hands were firmly holding me against him every kiss getting faster and sloppier. The way his teeth dragged against my bottom lip, the way his tongue moved against mine, all of it made me want to melt beneath him.

I would be his if he asked me and I made a note to bring that up after we were done.

Author Here! Hey sorry for the delay I broke my nose during a soccer game so I gave myself a few days off. I hope you enjoyed this one I was really inspired to write it. I hope you liked the steam.
