⁣His breath tickled her ear as he leaned down and whispered

“Is it hard looking at me like this?” ⠀

Wide eyed she took a deep breath through her nose, knowing he did it on purpose. He wanted to see her reaction. Usually he would be the first to flee when he wanted to hide something; especially stuff like this. Normally he wouldn’t want her to see him like this, fearing Sara would become scared of him.⠀

She turned around focusing on his golden eyes. Eyes she had known since she was little that always shinned of warmth, eyes that now looked at her with worry. ⠀

His twitching wings were folded tightly behind him. ⠀

Smiling she wiped the blood away from his chin with her sleeve, hoping Lucifer didn’t see her other trembling hand. He would never forget her reaction if he did. She just had to remember who he was, he was Lucifer, herLucifer.⠀

“I’m not scared of you Lucifer, okay maybe a little when you look like this, but not of you.” she gave him a soft smile. She wasn’t stupid, she knew Lucifer did some bad things, it was after all part of the job description as the ruler of Hell. “I could never be scared of you.” Sara knew she can’t show him how shocked she is, so she kept on smiling, cause deep down she knew she wasn’t lying.⠀

“So cold, alone
Could you be my blanket?
(Surround my bones)
When my heart feels naked
No strength, too weak
I could use some saving
And you’re love’s so strong”

- ‘Kindly Calm me down’ by Meghan Trainor.

I heard this song today for the first time and I fell instantly in love, and imagined it with my novel protagonist and her love interest, and therefore had to draw this little sketch on the plane home today.

As you may have understood, my novel is not a romance, and my Saga is a strong, capable woman, but does that mean she doesn’t require love in her life? I feel these days all I read is how woman are better off without men in their lives, but I think we should strive to be strong and independent, as well as hopeful of love.

Sorry for the rant, but I feel very strongly about this. Sometimes we just want to be loved! ✨

Could this be the last blurb? Time will tell.

O

The power to shape the world may lie at his fingertips, but Nils just wants a friend who won’t leave.

Selah might be the perfect place to keep a friend. No creature has ever escaped the hollow globe, trapped between the unreachable moon at its center and the bottomless ocean at its edge.

Nils emerges without memory of a life before and takes a liking to the first creature he sees: a bird-person named Axi. The pair fight off the terrors of the wild with miraculous powers, becoming fast friends.

There’s just one problem. Axi thinks Selah is all a dream. And what’s worse, they’d do anything to wake up.

Anything—in theory. If Axi went through with their deadly plan, would they return to their old life, leaving Nils to survive in their place? Would Selah vanish as they woke, taking Nils with it? Or would the dream go on for both, and the prison prove all too real?

The Night Circus - Erin Morgenstern✨

Review asked for by @paintingsandwords:)

I want everyone to read this book. Every single person that walks the planet! It’s absolutely magical so if you enjoy fantasy, then I implore you to give this book a go.

The Night Circus, written in 2011 by Erin Morgenstern, follows a range of characters who are all tied together by a challenge. A challenge where even the two rivals, Celia Bowen and Marco Alisdair, are unaware of the rules. The challenge lasts for years and the two begin by not knowing their opponent or when it will end. The venue for the challenge? A circus. Le Cirque des Rêves.

“Morgenstern’s exquisitely realised world will have the reader wishing to run off and join this circus” - USA Today. And I could not agree more! The circus itself is a magical one, an incredibly magical one. If you think you know what a circus entails, throw that knowledge out of the window because Le Cirque des Rêves is like nothing you’ve ever dreamt of. Morgenstern has a gift for descriptive writing. There were whole chapters that I couldn’t take my eyes off the pages for fear of losing the magic.

This book is filled with heartbreak, budding relationships, death and infuriating characters. One character who Morgenstern writes so well is Hector Bowen (Prospero the Enchanter). He is coldhearted and unloving of his daughter, Celia. But please don’t take my word on it. Read this book yourself and find your own reasons to hate the character. You watch the characters grow up and develop, and you take them in your arms. You are there for the birth of characters and the death of others. You read along as characters are faced with danger or difficult decisions. It truly feels like you are part of the circus from the second you open the front cover.

It is truly fantastic writing and I wish so much to be able to read it again for the first time.

If anyone reading this has also read it, please feel free to add your own (spoiler free!!) reviews in the comments below!

Happy reading!

Welcome to my new page for the series of novels I’m writing, Lycanthropy and the Single Girl.

Welcome to my new page for the series of novels I’m writing, Lycanthropy and the Single Girl. If you know me from my graphic novel, The Wellkeeper,or the webcomics Finding DeeorGiant Girl Adventures, I really hope you’ll love this new project.

If this is completely new to you, I hope you will fall in love with reading these books as much as I have in writing them.

Lycanthropy and the Single Girl is the story of a young, professional artist named Claire Gribbald who is trying to pick up the pieces of her life after a nasty break-up left her a bit more damaged than not. It left her a werewolf, and now she’s trying to juggle her friends, work, and possibly even dating all while learning that being a werewolf is NOTHING like what she expected.

I am currently editing the first novel in the series, with the second and third books already written and a fourth in the works right now. This is the main hub for updates, teasers, sketches, and more. I hope you like the world I’ve been creating and thanks for coming along for the journey. <3

Daily Prompt Forty-One

< I choked out a cough as I raised my hand to my still stinging cheek. “You know, you remind me more and more of your father everyday.”>

His face turned a bright shade of red before turning away with his hands above his head. I pulled myself onto my knees straightening my shirt that was stretching from his grip. My cheek was tender and would definitely be bruised. Good. I got to my feet and he turned around sharply. I didn’t fear him, I had faced worse than him and won.

“Don’t leave.” He begged tears spilling down his cheeks.

I flexed my jaw and rolled my eyes. “You lost that privilege the moment your hand touched my cheek.”

“I didn’t mean it.” He fell to his knees in front of my gripping my hips and sobbing into my thigh.

I rested my hand on his head laughing. “You never mean to do bad things, but here they are always happening.”

He clung to my leg like a toddler. “I don’t know what to do anymore.”

I pushed him away stepped out of his grasp. “Well now you are going to have to figure it out by yourself.”

He placed his head in his hands letting out gut wrenching sobs. For a moment there was an instinct to go to him. To push his hair out of his face and kiss his tears away. I even took a step forward. But then my cheek pulsed with pain, reminding me of what exactly lurked beneath his skin, and I took the step back.

“You know I had told myself over and over that you weren’t him. You weren’t the man you were raised to be. You were something good and different.” I said turning away. “I guess I was wrong.”

Author here! Hello this one is a little darker but I’m in a darker mood so here she is. Chapter Two of the Harry Potter Through the Mist series is coming out next week so stay tuned for that. Also just a reminder the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing after.

Daily Prompt Forty

<“Oh she is angry.” I whistled

“How can you tell?” He asked.

“Well you can see her mood by her hands. Like right now, she has a gun. I don’t think that means she is happy to see us.”>

She raised her gun pointing it directly at my chest. “You idiots!” She yelled.

“Oh yeah definitely not happy to see us.” He said.

“In his defense-” I started but she pressed the barrel of the gun to my lips silencing me.

“You don’t get to talk.” She snapped. “And you. I expect this behavior from him, but you?”

“I tried to stop him I really did.” He raised his hands in defense.

She motioned to the completely trashed room. The tables were flipped over and splintered across the floor. Most of the windows were broken and the chandelier was in pieces on the floor. In the mess the men who tried to attack us laid dead or unconscious.

I pushed the gun away from my mouth. “What did you want me to do? Let them kidnap you?” I demanded.

She waved the gun around. “What I wanted you to do is dispense of them quietly. Now we have guests waiting outside not knowing there is a disaster zone inside!”

“You’re still worried about your little party?” I scoffed. “Are you serious?”

“I’m sorry if my job isn’t important to you or you don’t think is worthy of your attention but it is to me. Despite everything that has happened I still have a country to run. You run a country by keeping the people happy. How do you keep people happy?” She reached down and picked up a crushed dirty cupcake. “You give them free food and a party.”

“Your life-” I was interrupted by her shoving the remains of the dessert in my mouth.

I stared at her with my jaw wide open. The velvet cake was sweet with a hint of buttercream but was overpowered by the taste of dirt and iron.

“I cannot believe you just did that.” He gasped covering his mouth with his hands.

I looked at her who stared right back. Her hands proudly on her hips looking defiant as ever. Without even a hint of remorse on her face. I spit out the cupcake at her shoe wiping the frosting off my lips. I saw a fallen cake was near her foot and before she could even blink I had reached down and shoved the entire thing in her face. She screamed backing up wiping the frosting off her face. Her eyes promising war. She grabbed an unopened bottle of champagne, uncorked it, and it spewed right in my face. I growled swiping the bottle out of her hands pushing her back landing in a puddle of pudding and blood.

“Guys!” He said trying to intervene.

She grabbed handful of smushed sandwiches and flung them at me landing right on my chest. She grabbed another cake and threw it hitting my shoulder. I swooped down and grabbed a bunch of rolls throwing them at her like snowballs. She dove over a dead guard behind a table where she found more champagne bottles.

“Guys seriously.” He tried again but we couldn’t hear him.

I leaped over her table tackling her and getting a mouthful of bubbling liquid while I did. I had started laughing and she had too. Finally we both laid on the floor cackling coated in food and grime. Her dress had been ruined along with her hair. Champagne ran down her cheeks and pieces of cake clung to her hair. She looked over at me smiling.

“I’m still mad you know.” She said reaching over and brushing a piece of frosting off my lips.

“I know.” I said.

“So are we going to talk about the guests waiting outside or stay in here throwing food covered in blood at each other?” He asked leaning over the table.

Her and I both locked eyes and smiled deviously. We both grabbed a nearby cake and threw it right at his face sending him flying backwards. We laughed together the party outside being the last thing on our minds.

Author here! Hello as you noticed I posted the most recent Through the Mist piece this morning so go ahead and give that a gander. I hope you enjoyed this one it was light and cute. Reminder the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing afterward. Thanks for reading!

Daily Prompt Thirty-Nine

<“He’s like the sun.” I sighed.

“Beautiful?”

“No, I can’t stand to look at him.” I snapped.>

“Alright I can see we are still a bit touchy.” She laughed.

I glared at her clutching onto the coffee mug in front of me. My knuckles were white against the hot ceramic. Touchy? Of course I was still touchy. Everyone would be touchy after what he did to me.

“Come on,” She reached across the table setting a hand on my forearm. “In all fairness he was the one who got you out of the dungeons.”

“After putting me there in the first place!” I spat.

“Fair enough.” She shrugged glancing at the clock on the wall. “He is going to be here any minute to pick you up.”

I pushed the mug away standing. “If that arrogant little weasel thinks I am going anywhere with him he is sorely mistaken.”

“I’ll go in your place.” She sat up a little too enthusiastically. I shot her a look. “Kidding, I was only kidding.”

I paced back in forth behind the couch. He was supposed to be here any minute. That was assuming he’d show up. What would I do if he showed up? I looked at my front door. Did I want him to show up?

No, of course not.

“Stop pacing, you’re stressing me out.” She sighed.

“I’m not pacing.” I snapped.

There was a knock on the door. My heart leaped into my throat and I was frozen in my spot. I wasn’t dressed for a party. I was in my pajamas, I hadn’t even brushed my hair…

“Are you going to get that?” She asked.

I snapped into action and walked over to the door opening it. My heart deflated when I saw it was just a delivery man. He was holding what looked like a garment bag.

“I have an order here for 342 Northwood Ln.” The man said presenting me with the bag.

“Um, no.” But before I could say anymore he turned and walked back to his truck.“

I tossed the bag on the table and sank into my chair.

"You were excited.” She noted carefully unzipping the bag.

“No I wasn’t.” I said.

“Oh my god.” She gasped pulling out a dress.

It was the prettiest thing I had ever seen. It was a soft blue with a lacy top embroidered with flowers and butterflies. The skirt was a sheen silk that was shorter in the front and longer in the back. It was sophisticated and elegant.

“Did you order this?” I asked touching the soft fabric.

“No, look there is a note.” She pulled it out and handed it to me.

I opened it and read: “I figured an illegal beach party wasn’t the best way for me to apologize. Slip into this and I’ll see you in 40 minutes. From your favorite royal.”

She squealed shoving the dress in my arms. “If you don’t go put this on right now I am going to.”

I hugged the dress against my chest and ran upstairs to hide my bright red cheeks and the smile growing on my face.

Author here! So this one is just something cute I wrote. I know its not angst or sexy but it made my heart warm. If you wanted to go back and read Daily Prompt OneandDaily Prompt Eight it is sort of a continuation off of those two. Just a reminder the prompts will always be in <> with my original writing afterwards. Thanks for reading!

Daily Prompt Thirty-Eight

<“Did you really not see it?” I demanded tears dripping off my chin. “Or were you just afraid to look?”>

He just stood there, looking broken. Good. It was exactly what I felt everyday.

“How could you stand there everyday watching me fall apart and do nothing. Everything has been taken from me. My pride, my dignity, my life. Everything.” I sobbed wrapping my arms around myself. “And you, you just stood there. You ignored it. The one person in my life I’m supposed to rely on.”

“I-”

“You’re what? You’re sorry?” I mocked choking on a sob. “There is nothing you can say right now to make this right. Nothing.”

“I don’t know what you want me to do here.” He sighed.

“I WANT YOU TO CARE!” I screamed choking on my tears. “I WANT YOU TO LOOK AT ME AND SEE ME!”

“I see you.” He stepped forward placing his hands on either side of my face.

I gripped his wrists tightly holding them in place and glared at him. “What exactly do you see? You know what I see every time I look in the mirror? An ugly, dirty, piece of garbage. Ever since that night that is all I see. That is all anyone sees.”

He pulled me closer. “I don’t see that. I see someone who has been through hell. I see someone who has crawled through the mud. I see someone who is still alive by sheer will. I see someone who even after everything she thought was important was thrown back in her face refuses to back down.”

“Pretty words.” I spat pushing him away turning around.

“They aren’t just words.” He reached for my hand stopping me.

I spun back around. “Then prove it. Prove that they are more than words.”

“How?” He asked pleading.

I pulled my hand out of his grasp. “I don’t know. Figure it out.”

Hello! This one is a little angsty but I’ve been frustrated lately so this is what I got for you. I hope you like it. Don’t forget to check out my Through the Mist post for this week! Reminder the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing afterwards.

Daily Prompt Thirty-Seven

< “Hello, darling. We are long over do for a chat.”> She purred sliding into the booth across from me.

I groaned leaning back against the seat, trying to put as much space between her and I as I could.

“What do you want?” I growled.

She flicked her vibrant blonde hair behind her catching the light of the dim bar as she did. “Why so rude? You aren’t still mad are you?” She batted those long lashes at me.

I leaned forward pressing my forearms into the table. “Oh course I’m still mad. You not only humiliated me in front of the whole court but you also had the audacity to play it off like it was somehow my fault.”

She bit her bottom lip that was coated in bright red lipstick. The color should have been called blow me red because there was one thing on men’s minds when they saw it on her lips.

She reached across the table resting her perfectly manicured hand on my arm. “I was just in a mood. You can’t blame a girl for having moods.”

“Yes I can when those moods happen to affect me.” I pulled my arm away to rest it on my lap.

She furrowed her brows causing her bright blue eyes to darken. “It wasn’t personal and it wasn’t even that big a deal.”

“I was to me.” I said as I motioned to the waiter for the bill.

Her arm moved so fast it was a blur as it wrapped around my wrist. She normal perfect posture was shaky and the look in her eyes was feral. Like an injured animal caught in a corner.

“You can’t walk away from me.” She hissed.

I rolled my eyes throwing two twenties on the table. Screw the waiter. I delicately grabbed her wrist and pulled her off me. I stood up straightening my black suit and gave her a glance up and down. At one point this girl was my whole world. Now I had no idea what I had seen in her.

“I have to go,” I said. “I have a date.”

Author here! Am I procrastinating editing my novel by writing on my Tumblr? Maybe. Do I care? Not particularly. Sorry this one is low key boring but I need the practice so here she is. Note that the prompt will always be in <> and my original writing after. Thanks for reading!

Daily Prompt Thirty-Six

<“People can do worse things than kill you.”> The man in the adjacent cell said his eyes hollow of any life and his voice barely a whisper.

I huffed leaning my head back against the wall. “Oh I am sure they are going to try.”

He muttered something under his breath I couldn’t catch and shuffled away to the corner of his cell. I rolled my eyes. Weak. I examined the shackles that were strapped to both my wrists. They were solid iron and caked with some else’s blood. My skin underneath the cold metal was rubbed raw, stinging with every small movement. How long had I been here? Hours, days, I was losing track with the lack of windows. Nothing but the trickling light of a candle filtering underneath the door.

“If someone is going to kill me you best get it over with.” I called.

The man’s head snapped up and he shook his head no with wide eyes.

“Come on you really scared of a little girl.” I called out again, taunting. “I know you’re out there.” I sang.

The man pressed himself further into corner trying to disappear in the shadows. I grabbed the empty metal cup and threw it at the door. The bang was so loud I must have woken up the four cells next to me. I finally heard the shuffle of footsteps outside and the grumble of a voice. I tested the chains that were bolted to the wall. I could get in maybe five feet of the door. The door swung open with a mighty crack, banging into the bars behind it, shaking the cage.

“Pipe down, or I’ll make you pipe down.” He growled from the door.

He was huge, well over six foot. He filled the entire doorway with his broad shoulder. His armor barely keeping his stomach in. I noted the jangling of keys hanging from his hip. I smiled.

“Wow you are one big fella.” I said. “I’m surprised you aren’t out of breath from the walk down here.”

His face turned red and his fist tightened at the black barbed baton at his side.

“I’m actually surprised they even let you into the Knight Guard. Oh wait don’t tell me. You used to be muscular and strong but the years of fucking and drinking got away from you. So, now you are down here in the dungeons shutting up little girls who talk too loud?” I taunted.

“Oh I am about to shut you up.” He said walking into the room.

I sprung. I leaped off the floor onto the bed swinging myself on his shoulder. I wrapped the chain once, twice around his meaty throat and pulled with all my might. He swung his baton at me and I barely felt how the barbs sank into my legs and back. He tried yanking me off and running into walls but I held on tighter. Until finally he stopped in the middle of the room sinking to his knees and eventually face planting into the floor. I held on for a couple more second until I was sure he was dead.

I untangled myself from the giant and grabbed the keys from his belt. It took me a couple minutes to find the right key but eventually my shackles fell to the floor. I groaned in relief twisting my wrists with their newfound freedom. I glanced over at the man in the next cell. He was gaping at me. I gave him a wink and slipped out the door and into the night.

Author here! Hello to all the new followers that have joined our little club. Glad you could make it. I’m getting close to 100 and I’m not sure what I should do for it. Daily Prompt Thirty-Five

< “I didn’t know you smoked.” I said watching him take a long drag of a vape.

“Sometimes we need to kill ourselves a little just to stay alive.” The smoke curled from his lips leaving the room in a smoky haze.

“So, which part are you killing tonight?” I asked swirling the glass of bourbon in front of me.

“Fear.”

“Fear of what?”

“You.”>

I laughed taking a long drink of the burning alcohol, draining the glass. “Am I really that intimidating?”

He looked me up and down slowly. “Not physically.”

I pushed the glass of ice away tapping the bar for the bartender to pour me another. “Then what is there to be afraid of?”

He look another hit of the vape leaning back in his chair. His raven black hair was down curling just above his shoulder. He wasn’t in his usual uniform of a suit and dress shoes. Instead it was just a pair of faded blue jeans and a white t-shirt and somehow it made him look hotter. He set the vape on the bar and slid it over to me. It spun to land right in front of me. Smoke still curling from the mouth piece.

“You drive me crazy.” He finally said turning his chair to face me. “The way your smile is seared into my head. The way you tears burn my heart when I see them. The way your ass fits perfectly in those jeans. The way your laugh lights up a room. The way your fist wraps around a gun so perfectly. The way you move, the way you breath. It gets my heart racing. I’m not afraid of you, I’m afraid of what you do to me.”

I didn’t dare look at those dark brown eyes as they studied my face. I twirled the vape in my hand. Feeling the lingering heat from his hold. I waited a couple second before placing the vape to my lips breathing in the cool minty haze. Then I blew it out and watched the smoke curl around his face unflinching.

“Maybe I’m afraid of what you do to me too.”

Author here! Look at me posting two days in a row. Now that I have caught up with school I have had a lot more free time to write. I hope you enjoyed this one it is much more sultry and lowkey. Just a reminder that the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing afterwards. Thanks so much for reading!

Daily Prompt Thirty-Four

<“You’re a monster,” He said lowly his words brushing against my lips.

I laughed and said, “better a monster, then an arrogant god.”>

He ran his fingers through my hair sending shivers down my spine. “So, you think I’m a god?”

I dragged my nails down his bare chest aware of the goosebumps that were left in my wake. “You’re twisting my words.”

“Maybe they were meant to be twisted.” He pressed his body against mine pinning me to the wall on my back.

I could feel his heartbeat thump against my chest. His skin was hot like the fire that was burning at my core. I wanted him. I wanted all of him. My hands found there way into his hair tangling themselves in his silky mess of curls. Both our shirts had been discarded on the floor long ago. Nothing but skin pressed against each other.

His head dipped finding the nape of my neck. His lips brushed against me and I flinched in response his touching driving me wild. I couldn’t help the moan escape my lips as he trailed up my neck and to my ear. His breath brushing against the sensitive skin there. My back arched off the wall closing what little space there was between us. He whispered my name in my ear and I melted in his touch. I pushed him back grabbing both sides of his face and pressing it to mine.

The moment our lips touched the world faded to black. Our kisses were fast and sloppy as if we were the last to people on earth. His tongue danced with mine in fast smooth strokes that set my world on fire. He lifted me off the ground and my legs wrapped around his torso refusing to let any space between us.

Then we were on the bed. I kept my legs wrapped around him as we were pressed together on the sheets. My hands were lost in his hair as his roamed my burning skin desperate for more.

I loved him. I loved the taste of him. I loved the way he touched me. I loved the way he heart beat in sync with mine. I held him closer as if he was the only thing keeping me tethered to this earth.

Author here! Wow welcome back to my tumblr I know it’s been a hot minute. That one was steamy ngl. I hope you guys liked it because I sure loved writing it. So, just a reminder that the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing after it. I know it says Daily Prompt at the top and I don’t really do daily anymore but I’ve come too far to change it now. Whelp thanks for reading hopefully I will be bringing you more soon. (Sorry if I’m rusty it’s been a hot second since I’ve written anything).

Daily Prompt Thirty-Three

<“I think I actually hate you,” I muttered.

“I am going to pretend I didn’t hear that.”>

The sun had set casting the sky in a blanket of darkness peppered with stars. Everyone had left the party, the only two people left were me and him and a low burning fire of coals in front of us.

“I can’t believe you lost the keys.” I poked the dying flames with a stick sending sparks hovering in the air.

“Hey I didn’t lose them, they were stolen.” He argued.

I glanced over at the truck that was parked under the tree. “Yeah they stole your keys but had no interest in the truck.”

He shrugged. “Hey I don’t know how a thief’s mind works.”

I rolled my eyes. A night breeze whispered through the trees wrapping around me like an icy shawl. I was wearing jean shorts and a crop top. Not exactly the best clothes to be stranded in the middle of nowhere.

“Maybe I left them at the park.” He suggested motioning behind me.

A children’s playground and water pad was behind us. During the day is was filled with kids and families but once the sun began lowering in the skies it was ours. I got to my feet dusting off the dirt that clung to my legs.

“I swear you already checked there but sure.” I began walking over to the park.

His laid his arm across my shoulders giving me his signature debonair smile. “You always were a better finder than me.”

I brushed off his arm. “That’s because you never actually look for things.”

He laughed and we entered the park. “You check the water pad and I’ll check the swings.”

“Whatever. The water pad is off right?” I asked tiptoeing around the spouts that were on the ground.

“Totally, it’s like 1am.” He called behind me.

The last thing I needed was to get wet. I ducked under rainbow pipes that dripped with condensation. Then, literally right in the middle of the pad were his keys.

“Idiot.” I grumbled to myself walking over and picking them up.

“Hey!” He called out behind me.

I spun around to see him standing next to a post with a big red button on it.

“Don’t you dare.” I growled.

He winked at me before pressing the button. Instantly the water pad came to life. Jets of water sprung up beneath me, the buckets of water tipped over and drenched me to the bone. I ran trying my best to avoid the jets but it was already too late at that point. I was too busy looking at my feet to notice I ran right into him. He was standing there as soaked as I was with a huge smile on his face.

“You idiot!” I yelled punching him in the shoulder.

He only laughed. “Come on it’s kind of funny.”

“Funny? We are both soaking wet and about the freeze and you think this is funny?” I demanded.

He brushed the pad of his thumb along my cheek wiping away the dripping water. “You know you are pretty cute when you’re mad.”

“You would know that’s for sure.” I said trying to keep the smile from crawling on my face.

“You know, we are already wet.” He said.

“And?”

“Let’s have a little fun shall we?” He asked.

“No I don’t think we shall-” I started but he grabbed me around the waist lifting me up and carrying me back through the water pad.

I should have been furious as my clothes and hair got more and more wet but instead I was laughing. I wrapped my arms around his neck and titled my head back as we ran through the water. The moon was reflecting of the droplets on his face making it look like it was encrusted with diamonds. He was beautiful. He stopped right beneath the bucket of water as it slowly began to fill. I placed my hands on either sides of his face and pulled him into a kiss. Not a moment too soon because we were drenched with water in the next second. I laughed against his lips and he pulled me closer.

Maybe it wasn’t so bad that he lost the keys after all.

Author here! Man this one was cute and is low key based off something that happened to me in highschool so enjoy that. I hope you all like it and thank you so much for your support. Reminder the prompt will always be in <> with my original writing after it. Thanks for reading!

Daily Prompt Thirty-Two

<“Why do you keep risking your life?” He demanded. “To prove a point?”

“Yes.”>

“Why? What could possibly be the point you are trying to prove?” He stepped forward raising his hands in the air.

I refused to step back looking him dead in the eyes. “The point I am trying to prove is that I don’t need you to save me. I don’t need anyone to save me.”

“I just saved you not but five minutes ago!” He pointed out.

“I never asked you to do that.” I snapped.

“You dangling from a cliff by one hand is asking for help.” He said.

“I had it handled.”

“Oh yeah, you going off by yourself to face an army ten times stronger and more powerful than you is really handling it.” He laughed.

God I just wanted to slap him. “I would have figured something out.”

“Yeah you would have figured out dying.” He crossed his arms.

“Whatever I don’t need this.” I turned away ignoring the burning tears prickling at the corners of my eyes.

“Don’t turn your back on me.” He reached out gripping my shoulder.

That was enough. I had taken ridicule, humiliation, and belittling for the last time. No one thought I could do anything. I was tired of being seen as a little girl way in over her head. I grabbed his forearm, bending forward, and pulled him over my shoulder. I had caught him off balance and by surprise as his body flew over mine and crashed into the ground in front of me. Before he could blink I pounced. I pulled out the knife that was strapped in my boot and pressed it against his throat straddling his waist. Which would have been embarrassing if I wasn’t seriously contemplating ripping open his throat.

We both sat there panting, his eyes were locked with mine. He looked shocked but also frustrated. He opened his mouth to talk but I pressed the cold steel harder against his throat silencing him. From the corner of my eye I could see guards running forward. He put his hand up motioning them to stop.

“Stop looking at me like that.” I snapped.

“Like what?” He asked calmly.

“Like I’m some wild animal you are trying to calm down.” I seethed.

“Well you just attacked me and now are pressing a knife into my throat. If that isn’t wild I don’t know what is.” He smirked.

God did I want to just cut his throat.

“Stop it.” I said.

“Stop what?” His smirk still held strong on his face.

“That stupid smile.” I growled shifting forward to press the knife harder.

That was my mistake. He used the shift in momentum to buck his hips. He grabbed my torso, interlocking his legs with mine twisting us over making my back hit the ground with enough force to knock the wind out of me. He grabbed my wrists and dung them into the ground causing the knife to clatter out of my hand. The advantage I had was lost. He was six inches taller than me and pure muscle. There was no escaping this. I screamed in frustration kicking my legs under him.

“Are you done now?” He asked.

“I am going to kill you. The moment you let me up I am going to kill you.” I growled spitting in his face.

He sighed. “I am going to be honest with you right now. You are one of the best warriors we have. You are cunning, quick, and powerful but you are unbelievably stupid and reckless. No one doubts that you could take a whole army by yourself. But you shouldn’t have to. We are a team and we face things together.”

I hated the fact that he was making a good point. Especially about me being the best.

“When the team makes a plan we need everyone to execute it. When I say go left, you go left. If I saw take up the rear it isn’t because I think you are the weak link we need to protect. I mean that you are the only person I trust to have my back.” He continued.

I flexed my hands that were losing feeling as his grip was cutting of the circulation.

“Now I will let you up on two conditions.” He said.

I rolled my eyes waiting for him to continue.

“Condition number one, you don’t kill me when I get off you.” He said.

I let out a long breath. “Fine.”

“Condition number two, you leave behind your insufferable ego and work with me.” He said.

I glared at him and bit the inside of my cheek. “Fine.”

“Great.” He stood up releasing my wrists.

I sat up on my forearms glaring daggers at the back of his head. He turned and smiled reaching out offering his hand. I easily could have grabbed him and yanked him back onto the ground and put him in a choke hold. I looked at his hand still coated in dirt and blood. This war wasn’t about having to like him, it was about winning. I couldn’t win without him. So I gripped his hand and let him pull me to my feet.

But that also didn’t mean I had to trust him.

Author here! Wow guys this has been a long break which is totally my bad. Classes are difficult and I also went on vacation. But I am on winter break right now so I am ready to get back to it! Daily Prompt Thirty-One

<“If you do that again, I’ll throw you out the fucking window.” I snarled. “What are you doing?”

“Checking to see how high the drop is, see if it’s worth it.” He mused leaning against the glass. >

“God you’re insufferable.” I crossed my arms turning away from him.

“I’m aware.” He said laughing.

“You always think you are right, or that your plans are the best, or somehow every idea out of my mouth is stupid.” I said.

“Well I am, they are, and that’s true.” He agreed.

I spun around to smack him but before my hand could make contact he snatched my wrist. “Careful love wouldn’t want to push me out a window would we?”

“You have no idea how happy that’ll make me.” I pulled against his grip but he held firm.

“The only reason I don’t like your plans because they always put you in the most danger. You are so willing to jump in front of a train for others when they wouldn’t do the same for you. Why are you so eager to die for a cause that will carry on without you?” He demanded.

I pulled against his grip again and he let go. “Even if the cause carries on without me at least it will carry on. It’s not about me or you its about doing what is right. If me dying is what is right then so be it.”

He stepped forward cupping my face in his hands. “You dying is never right.”

I ignored the spread of butterflies in my stomach and pushed him away. “You are selfish, you will always be selfish.”

“If selfish is what is keeping you alive then so be it.” He shrugged.

I looked at him with his honey locks of hair tied up out of his face. The way a smirk always hung off his lips. The way his melted copper eyes always held a hint of mischief. There was something bubbling within me. Something hot and gooey that made my arms go numb. It made me feel alive and maybe even agree with what he was saying. So, I did the only logical thing.

I pushed him out the window.
