Went herping with a local friend this past weekend and had some nice finds. Spotted an adorable little atrox, looked like a chubby spring baby. While we were flipping trash in one location we stumbled upon an impressively large coral tangled tight in some mesh and stuck through some old gross foam. We were able to cut it free and send it on its way. The day also turned up a couple checkered garters, a bunch of rough earths, and a real nice looking Emory’s rat snake.

On the river looking for cottonmouths. No luck today, but saw a couple N. rhombifer and a yellowbelly. And per usual, plenty of turtles.

Set out southeast of the city last night with a friend to try and road cruise some canebrakes. The roads were pretty quiet and we had no luck on the canes, but we did see a broad-banded water snake and 3 cottons when we were out checking the water. It was a good night for inverts and armadillos, as well.
