Every so often I see posts saying things like “Molly was the most important relationship in Fitz’s life” “Beloved was the most important relationship in Fitz’s life”
NO. WRONG. YOU’RE WRONG.
Fitz was taught “a horse cannot wear two saddles” and that was WRONG. and he spent his life tearing himself apart over which calling was the real one - the Wit or the Skill, the wolf or the prince, Badgerlock or Farseer, assassin or scribe, straight or queer, Molly or the Fool - because he cannot accept for most of the books that all those things are equally part of him. the man who taught him that, Burrich, tore his own life apart by being unable to accept that he loved both Chivalry and Patience and they both loved him and each other.
The Fool, Molly and Nighteyes all call him out on this consistently. he’s cutting off parts of himself and then they come back suddenly and hard and break things because it’s not honest. he doesn’t love Molly and the Fool in totally different ways or at different times or one more than the other. He loves both of them in every way that matters, they are boththe love of his life, you don’t have to pick which prevails bc as long as he’s having to choose parts of himself to deny he’s continuing to make terrible self-destructive decisions.

I finished Assassin’s Quest a short while ago, but I haven’t been able to draw much since the new uni semester just started! I finally found some time to whip this one out – Fitz and the Fool from chapter 39! Aaaahh I love them so muchhh! About as much as I love Fitz&Burrich! :DDD
At first I was going to do a standalone painting for it (originally the fourth panel of this comic). But then I thought to myself, why not outdo the official illustration with as many feels as I can?? So I put my mini-comic spin to it loll
Alrighty it’s time to get into spoilery Royal Assassin fanart, starting with Fitz and the Fool in chapter 20! There’s already an official illustration for this scene, but I wanted to do my own take on it ^^;;
Guess who finally got a copy of Royal Assassin and binge-read it in a few days? XDDD I’ll definitely get some art done for it, but in the meantime, have some Fitz and the Fool (and Smithy) from chapter 13 of Assassin’s Apprentice!
Also, this is technically my first time drawing a doggo, even with a reference pic, so please go easy on me loll
Assassin’s Apprentice, chapter 15: Burrich tends to Fitz while reminiscing on his dealings with Galen. I wanted to contrast Burrich’s harshness against Galen with his gentleness towards Fitz, hence the focus on his hands.
