i haven’t had time to just sketch something in ages, and i’ve been wanting to do a billion gay things. but now! i just finished a thing for a project which means its Gay Sketches Time!! and boy i love fjord/darrow and have wanted to draw them since the fighting and spa episodes.

I suddenly had a great urge to draw Fancy Fjord.. I sortof gave up on the outfit details at the bottom (don’t look at his hat) but I think I fixed it with colour hehe
There’s something in how we know (via Talks) that Fjord does regret not having spoken to Vandran earlier in life, that he regrets not having taken the chance while he could to tell him how much Vandran meant to him.
There does feel to me some part avoidance in Fjord choosing not to contact him in this moment, part optimism, part needing this to be an in person conversation, part giving himself a reason to drag himself back from the abyss they’re walking into—but it also is so much, as Fjord said, choosing to let Vandran have the apparent quiet that he has found in life and not disturb that.
Though Fjord seems still unsure about the nature of their relationship, I personally always wonder if Vandran did grieve him the first time. Perhaps Fjord’s choice here is trying to save Vandran from needing to grieve him a second time.
Fjord has regrets here. But, he is choosing Vandran’s peace of mind over his own. There’s something so self-sacrificing in that, something so kind.
