I took my “Jester before and after the kiss” post and upgraded it to meta levels:

I know everyone talked a lot about the cast’s reactions to the kiss, how amazing they were (Marisha and Ashley are always a mood during fj scenes), and how much they all ship it.

But I wanted to point out my favorite reaction: mrs Laura Bailey herself, because not only did she look so excited during the episode, the way she reacted on twitter and Talks was adorable too.

Fjorjester is actually one of my more low key ships, so I don’t usually go too meta on them, but I happened to be having some Fjorjester thoughts, so I’m gonna word vomit them.

I really like where FJ is going and I love the youthful vibe to this romance. And not in the “Jester thinks Fjord is a storybook hero” way people love to use to invalidate them, but in a real, pure innocence way. On both sides. These are two people who have pretty much never been in a relationship. They don’t really have a clear grasp on what it even is, which makes things awkward around each other sometimes, but I think when they do figure it out, they’re going to keep that element of youthful nature. I don’t think much will change with them really, they’ll still have many of the same cute little interactions they already do.

And my frame of reference for this is also in comparison to something like Campaign 1. When Percy and Vex got together, it was very clear they were going to be that, for lack of a better term, standardized adult relationship. Once they fought past all the bullshit, the Vecna of it all, they’d settle down and rest. I remember a Talks where Laura said she just wanted Percy and Vex to have babies and grow old. And for two battle weary characters, that was beautiful and poignant.

Fjord and Jester are the kind of people I can see pushing on together for a long time, riding that wave of youth and energy. I can see them adventuring together for many, many years, most with the Nein, but even continuing when others may drop out. I can see them not marrying until they’re old, or at least older, if they ever do. And I don’t know? I just like it. I find it comforting and adorable.
