This 4wd bus drove into the campsite 2 days ago. It is amazing. It parked next to me (dwarfing my van). Unfortunately I didn’t get any photos of inside (or even see inside), or any with its awning out… .

I decided to travel down south, in Australia this winter. It hasn’t been very cold - I only had a few frosty mornings, which were gorgeous. It was interesting to experience travelling in my van in a couple of states that have visibly different seasons (compared to Brisbane).

I bought my van with the pop-top already made. The guy in the other van had his made. He loved the fact that he could decide on the sizes of the windows on his pop-top canvas. He chose full size windows, which he said was great for ventilation when he is in hot weather. He also has windows on all 4 sides, whereas mine has them on 3 sides.

Uyuni Salt Flats (Salar de Uyuni)

Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia is the world’s largest salt flat. It’s the legacy of a prehistoric lake that went dry, leaving behind a desert of nearly 11,000 square kilometres.  It is at an elevation of 3,656 meters above sea level therefore it gets VERY cold at night! In the height of summer it can reach as low as -25 degrees. Luckily we came prepared with lots of firewood, marshmallows and beer/wine!

Driving through the salt flats felt like being on another planet, just an open expanse of flat white salt and no limitations on where to explore! It was an amazingly beautiful place.
