Mise en Placeby@corvuscrowned (5,470 words, rated T)

Draco needs to learn how to cook, and luckily, Harry knows his way around a kitchen.

The fact that Draco is using his newfound cooking skills to impress another man… Well, Harry just tries not to think about that too much.

But somewhere, among all of the spicing and savoring, Harry realizes that Draco is coming by for more than just a good meal.

I’ve been on a Crow binge (if you haven’t checked out his other stuff, I highly recommend starting with this and then binging the rest like I did. It’s extremely all satisfying.) I first became a fan of Crow during October last year when they made a fic based off of one of my favorite obscure movies and also wrote a bunch of super fun, short horror ficsfor@hp-fearfest

Mise en Place is the perfect example of why Crow’s work is so fun to read. They do an incredible job of characterizations and nail both Harry and Draco’s hesitancy. Crow always writes situations that feel so real and plausible, which allows their characters come to life.

Whether you prefer cilantro or parsley (I like both, by the way) you’ll love Mise en Place as much as I did. Make your favorite comfort food, then enjoy this lovely and warm comfort read that will make your heart feel full like it’s just eaten a warm, buttery, and crisp cottage pie. And when you’re done with this fic, you should definitely check out his other stuff for dessert!

As always, if you find a fic you enjoy, please show your appreciation and leave the creator a kudos or a comment!

❤️ Lots of Love and Happy Friday! ❤️

“I think that maybe if I talked to you I could see how you did it.”

“How I did what?”

Harry drew in a lungful of air and expelled it in a drawn out breath.“Figured out the difference between who you were supposed to be, and who you really are.”

Happy Friday! I hope you’ve got some fun weekend plans! I started my weekend off right with this lovely fic -

this is me tryingby@phoebe-delia (12,636 words, rated T)

After the war, Harry’s living in Grimmauld Place and just joined Auror training. He’s doing fine—he’s ready to accept this as his routine, until he runs into Draco Malfoy, reformed and working in a Muggle diner, and he starts to see what he might be missing.

I loved that lots of this fic was set in a diner - I always love the homey atmosphere of diners in real life and was delighted to find that same atmosphere in fic as well. Additionally, I enjoyed watching as Harry and Draco get to re-learn each other, learn these new versions of each other and find how their lives fit together as they’ve both changed and grown.

This is a fic you won’t want to miss! After you finish the fun of the Happy Hour, go sober up with your favorite diner food (mine’s Waffle House grits) and let yourself enjoy this wonderful fic!

Happy Happy Late (for me at least) Friday!

I desperately needed to read a bit of happy this week, so I hope you’ll join me in reading this extremely fun fic.

There’s Something About Harry by Barry_Manilows_Wardrobe (28,007 words, rated M)

Harry Potter is just your average Parapsychologist. In conflict with his Department Head, D. Lucius Malfoy, and sometimes venturing into a paranormal world in order to help people in distress.

Who just happens to be surveilled by MACUSA and the Ministry.

This fic was bright and silly and incredibly fun. In this alternate universe, Harry is American paranormal psychologist, hunting down zombies (ahem, inferi) and ghosts and other mystical things much to the chagrin of his colleague and fellow psych professor, Dr. Draco Malfoy. After an incident, they’re forced to take anger management classes and something besides anger begins to simmer between them.

I understand this fic might not be to everyone’s tastes - if it sounds wacky, well, that’s because it is! But I hope you give it a chance, not in spite of its wackiness but because of it, which makes it feel fresh and new. It reminded me of that Roger Ebert quote about The Mummy:

“…I was cheered by nearly every minute of it… I can say that I was not bored and sometimes I was unreasonably pleased.”

I was unreasonably pleased by this fic, cheered by every minute of it, and laughed out loud several times, which was exactly what I was looking for.

❤️ Lots of Love and Happy Friday ❤️
