Just as Draco Malfoy’s life seems to be getting back on track, the magic at Malfoy Manor is spinning out of control. Auror partners Harry Potter and Angelina Johnson are assigned to the case and quickly find that nothing about the situation is obvious. The flare ups are unpredictable at best, downright dangerous at worst, and why has a Hogwarts first year gone missing at the same time? Featuring: Draco’s penchant for fancy light fixtures (handmade), Harry’s penchant for wearing only boxers to bed (handsome), a protracted (necessary-ish) stay alone together at Malfoy Manor, and more!
“Yeah, I mean he still annoys me.” Harry thought about it. “We spend all this time together and sometimes I just want to pelt him with small objects. Nothing that would hurt him. Just like, ping, a paper clip, or something.”
This was my first Cluefest pick (curse breaker Harry, my beloved! The “creepy nightgowns” tag might have done it too) and it instantly became a favourite. You can’t go wrong with case fic + unhinged house + forced proximity and I love how iota balances efficient and hot bodyguard Harry doing cool investigative work with a nice slow burn, slice-of-life vibes full of delicious UST. Boy, does this fic deliver! I love the initial animosity, both keeping their distance as if complete strangers, and how the forced proximity makes their dancing around each other an exciting mix of awkward tension and sweet domesticity. And the mystery running across two cases kept me invested in the plot the whole time, even as the alternating POVs stole the scene.
Speaking of, my favourite thing about this fic - besides the kind of organic, conversational slow burn I just LOVE, feels so real - was the delightful low key humour. You know that bubbly feeling of being caught off guard by an unexpected line that make you snort out loud and go back to reread it? This fic is full of those subtly funny jokes, especially when we’re inside Draco’s head and catch him pining after hot shot Auror Potter in his offensive sleeping boxers, and offensive arms and thighs combo. Draco never stood a chane! For a quiet slow burn, I wasn’t expecting to laugh this much, and the dialogue was witty enough that I never knew when to expect it, which kept me fully engaged and smitten. What a treat!
Their personalities are also a delight, relatable and quite charming; I love Draco’s initial guarded and aloof approach, soften by his interest in tinkering with furniture and fixing things, by his gentle pining and mild self-deprecation. His recluse persona felt very realistic, a refreshing take on the “down and out” trope imo. Harry is a bit slower on the uptake - again, 100% on brand - and his friendship with Hermione cleansed my skin, especially when she teased him about Draco. On a side note, it’s interesting to notice how both Harry and Draco are perfectly content in their loneliness, each has his own routine and lives comfortable in his own skin, welcoming simple things like reading a book or having dinner in companionable silence.
Plus the way they’re so disgustingly sweet to each other after finally getting together? I live and breathe for Harry telling Draco he’s gonna teach him things, or playfully grabbing his foot, or reminiscing about being called “sweetheart” the night before (YES PLS, the way I’ve been obsessing over this endearment lately ). This fic had all the things I love about a slow burn, great unhurried pacing, tentative romance, intriguing plot, charming dialogue. It did my heart so good after an insanely busy week, and I’m sure it will charm its way into someone else’s heart as well. Go ahead and don’t forget to leave kudos and comments!

The Seven Weasley Horcruxes G, <1k, Gen Molly POV, MCD, child loss This fic feels like all the pieces of a soul put back together. Like Vuk’s carved out Molly Weasley’s soul for us to see, all the bone-weary heartbreak and hope of parenthood. There is a wholeness to the writing…it’s hard for me to explain. Like you come out reading a whole new person. Maybe one of my fav fics of all time.
“I love you, (too/also).” E, 8.7k, drarry, infidelity, gaslighting, breeding kink, butt plugs, hopeful ending but not in the romantic context SO as with any vuk fic, there’s a lot going on, but what I love most about this fic is Draco’s POV. His internal monologues are hilarious despite being a fic about people being awful to each other??? Ex: As if I’d eat raw vegetables. Like a horse. Granger shovels salad into her horsey face, point proven. I MEAN COME ON.
►They say that “a butterfly can flap its wings in Peking, and in Central Park, you get rain instead of sunshine”, meaning that even the smallest event can cause drastic changes. So, what would happen if Harry Potter’s spoiled cousin from Surrey went to Hogwarts alongside him, concealing from everyone that he’s a Muggle?
►Voldemort died, the war ended and come September, the 7th Year students return to Hogwarts to finish their NEWTs. Harry had never noticed how pretty Malfoy’s eyes were before. Meanwhile, Draco is suffering from unexplained stomach pains.
►In which Harry is not the only one who got a second chance during the Battle of Hogwarts. Or, the Ministry of Magic becomes a sort of summer camp for misguided youth (two in particular, it’s very exclusive) right after the war.
►Draco doesn’t consider himself an artist (though the dozens of sketchbooks lining his shelves might suggest differently). Yet ever since Potter returned to Hogwarts, accepting a teaching position alongside Draco, his drawings have taken on a rather singular focus. When Draco Malfoy fled from Harry Potter’s life it was without even a goodbye. He was left lonely and bereft. Now, almost nine years later it is Christmastime and Draco has returned to London, complete with a Scorpius-shaped surprise that Harry truly wasn’t expecting. Can the two wizards get over the hurt of the past and seize the happy future that they both deserve?
Draco’s on the run and Harry hasn’t seen him in months. All hell breaks loose when Harry catches him in Knockturn Alley, but there’s more to their relationship, and Draco’s disappearance, than meets the eye.

The distance helps with the bond. It’s not as strong as it used to be during eighth year. Distance makes it dormant, as the healers said many years ago. Ever so often when Draco comes back, it roars back to life whenever he’s near Harry. They mutually agree to stay away. Until they don’t.
Mise en Place is the perfect example of why Crow’s work is so fun to read. They do an incredible job of characterizations and nail both Harry and Draco’s hesitancy. Crow always writes situations that feel so real and plausible, which allows their characters come to life.
Whether you prefer cilantro or parsley (I like both, by the way) you’ll love Mise en Place as much as I did. Make your favorite comfort food, then enjoy this lovely and warm comfort read that will make your heart feel full like it’s just eaten a warm, buttery, and crisp cottage pie. Today, I’ve brought a fic that is a few months old, by the brilliant @softlystarstruck When I was thinking about which fic to pick (and there are so, so many that are dear to my heart), I thought about the kinds of fics that tend to get a little less love. The Librarian has been working on some Historical AU recs, so… why don’t we go to space?
Every detail — from Starship Hedwig to Crown Prince Draco of Scorpius — fuses the world we know with this fantastical adventure in space, weaving these characters seamlessly into a believable new universe. This fic takes every Han Solo-Firefly-Trek universe fantasy and fuses it into a delicious, confident Harry. You won’t want to miss him.
“Crown prince or no, he could kill me and take my ship the second my back is turned. Though he did manage to fuck up piloting a Silver Swan, so that’s doubtful. He couldn’t handle a fraction of Hedwig. “You have to come to the cockpit with me though.”
The style is unique and sharp-witted.
Bee writes beautiful, warm love stories, with an eye for tenderness. In this fic, they manage that gentleness with a snappy edge through alternating Harry and Draco first person POVs. Each character is brilliantly developed, with subtle differences in their voices that make each shine in their own right.

He just looks so lost, sitting in the chair with his fingers twisting around themselves. It’s obvious that he usually keeps his guard up– it comes across on his sharp tongue– but his facade keeps splintering and his panic spills through.

Every day, Draco Malfoy tries. With every fiber of his being he tries. But he doesn’t much think about what he’s trying for. A fic about challenging assumptions, discovering self-worth, the silver lining in failing to meet expectations, and finding friendship, love, and purpose in a small Alaskan town that’s steeped in magic.
“Rule number one”—Draco lifts a forefinger in the air to begin his count—“no feelings.” He speaks the words intentionally, willing them into truth, hoping for a Time-Turner to appear amidst the clutter on Harry’s table.
My first rec outside birthday gifts caught me completely off guard. I’m gonna preface this by saying that I trust @sweet-s0rr0w’s taste with all my heart, and even knowing her rec couldn’t be anything other than perfect I’m still shook by how much I adored this fic. High chances of being my favorite BB together with Home Truthsby@skeptiquex, and they are definitely among my favorite 2021 reads. Ancient Pines reminded me a lot of one of my all-time fave fics, A Sword Laid Aside by korlaena - not in terms of characterization or plot-wise (although hermit Harry sharing his refuge with Draco is totally my jam!). No, the similarities are more related to tone and intent. Both stories feel properly adult, mature and contemplative yet light and tender in a way that feels almost poetic.
This kind of writing always gives me chills and makes me feel like basking in a warm bath, it’s so hard not to mourn the experience once it’s over. Here’s to another fic I wish I could read for the first time over and over! Ancient Pines has a perfect mix of so many elements I personally love: Healer Draco, hermit Harry, wand lore, friends with benefits gone (remarkably) wrong, low key emotional angst, found family, comfort food, Draco & Ginny friendship, a sexy amount of sneaky escapades with many fingers going into belt loops, and much more. Harry and Draco’s dynamics are simply fantastic, from the delightful banter to the passionate lovemaking. I’m captivated by this chill, earnest, observant and tender Harry, his good-natured ways edged just a lil bit with the kind of defiant stubbornness he saves only for Draco.
And this Draco is just the perfect match for him! Smart and capable, warm yet overthinking every little step and grasping for control by setting empty rules he’s bound to break. It’s such a lovely thing to watch them come together amidst the wild and evocative landscape of Alaska, with easy familiarity despite having an unspoken past looming over their heads. It’s even lovelier to watch Draco find his self-worth and identity along the way, coming to terms with what he wants and daring to take a leapplunge of faith. What a touching showcase of character development!
Beyond the gorgeous characterization, this fic also has delightful OCs (Meg & Fee own my heart!) and sets a perfect pace mixing delicious banter, detailed wand magic and gentle romance. And it’s so gentle, and fun, and sweet! Their dynamics feel very organic and the way “Let’s have fun” becomes “What can I do?” reflect how much these characters grow to learn and care for each other. Lastly, I wanna give a massive shoutout to the talented cambiodipolvereandonlytheheartknows who captured the fic’s essence and gorgeous aesthetics with stunning art pieces! Their work got me even more immersed in this universe and put a big smile on my face. If you’re looking for a soft and resonant comfort read, search no more: this journey is your next read!
It’s been four months since Harry lost his memory. Four months of dead ends and no answers. With time running out until his memories are gone for good, Harry agrees to a course of Legilimency therapy with a renowned specialist: Mind Healer Draco Malfoy.
There was something intriguing about him. Something in the way he spoke to Harry – none of that obsequious deference that most of the experts Harry met had shown. Instead, he had quiet confidence and a blunt honesty that Harry couldn’t help but like. It didn’t hurt that he bickered easily with Hermione, which Harry associated with Ron, and home, and comfort.
Excuse me, Harry associating Draco’s banter with Ron’s is everything I need in life, pls and thank I read this gorgeous and creative fic a couple days ago (my first 50k in weeks!) and the idea was to take a few breaks between chapters but I got completely obsessed with the perfect little universe @fluxweeed created here and I had to binge it right away. What a fantastic take on amnesia and Legilimency! I’m quite particular about these 2 tropes but I had a blast following Harry’s journey to recover his memories. This new/old Harry is so charming: witty, bold, 100% confident in his sexuality and completely gone for Draco. Their dynamics are charged, sweet and believable; despite the mutual attraction, they remain very true to their characters which I really appreciated. I love how the initial tension becomes easy banter, then slowly develop into trust and love (ignoring Draco’s bad attempts at professionalism lol). The mind healing sessions are incredibly creative and immersive with striking settings, great dialogue and many well thought details that sucked me right into the story (and their heads). All of that written in an honest, organic and sensitive way. I also love Harry’s dynamics with Ron and Mione; it’s interesting to see how his detachment from the war affects their friendship, and the author did a great job showing the inevitable confrontation but also reminding us of the ways they care for each other, and that they’re mature enough to think things through, reach out and apologize. Finally, you may be wondering if there’s any Legilimency-related smut and the answer is YES there’s a delicious, scorching hot and public pub scene that made me wanna reach into the screen and smash their cocks heads together. Goodness, what a ride. Brilliant plot and characterization, gorgeous slow burn and a very satisfying ending. Treat yourself!
In which Draco is a Veela and Harry is his mate. Dark!Humor or Crack!Horror, you decide.
Potter shudders and rocks against him, using his body as friction. “How can I possibly want you?” he continues. His fingers twist in Draco’s hair, making his scalp tingle with the pain. “I hate you. I hate everything about you.”
Veela fics are not my usual pick but I haven’t read dark comedy in forever and I just couldn’t resist such an intriguing summary. Turns out this was a fun, unfairly hot and quite refreshing read! I love the bizarre concept of Veelas as man-eaters and Draco’s insufferable voice is fabulous - he’s found his perfect match in this mysterious, broken Harry and their antagonism is deliciously strained, dangerous and sexy. Unhinged Drarry is a mood™ and this fic made me crave it even more. Their chemistry is off the charts and that hot sequence with Harry yanking the chains while reciting all the reasons why he hates Draco took my breath away! I love this fic’s intriguing atmosphere and the way the author portrays a disorienting mix of vicious resentment and burning, all-consuming hunger. Their need is desperately physical and raw, something that could only culminate in almost religious sex, featuring filthy fingering, rough fucking and a fabulous mating moment this was hands down of the hottest and most satisfying smuts I’ve read lately, intense and debauched, thak god I was at home because I might have blushed a little on top of that, the writing is fantastic, rich, engaging, visceral and full of brilliant analogies (pinned butterfly? St. Sebastian shot full of arrows?? Cock au vin??? RIP me). If you’re into Veela fics I can’t rec this enough, it’s a must read. And if you’re here only for the crack!horror and smut like me, let me tell you: you won’t regret it one bit ;)
