A pumpkin plant on the property that already has vines several feet long and a pretty good sized pumpkin growing on it. (It amazes me that these are all growing without any water, other than what they are getting naturally through the ground or dew in the mornings.)

The courgettes were my big failure this season. I grew a mixed variety from seed, started them early, planted them in the ground with lots of worm castings and other goodness, then… nothing. They just stopped growing. It’s probably just from not enough water: this past summer has been ridiculously dry. We’ve had two, maybe three pathetic little ones, but that’s it! From like, eight plants! Ah well, next year I’ll try planting them somewhere else and hope for the best.
