The Tblisi skyline is a spontaneous assortment of architecture.: classical European churches, gold domes, wooden crosses, red and orange terracotta tiles, aluminum sheets and a couple of skyscrapers that would be meagre in any major Chinese city. The fog here, which is actual fog and not the smoggy PM2.5 of Guandong, encloses the city like wisps of cotton, hiding the peaks of mountains and making it seem like the city borders floating lands. It gives a real majesty to the place, like any good fog should, hinting at a world beyond the realm of sight, as if mystery still exists.
The mother of Tblisi offers a sword and wine, so appropriate, so correct. Love, hospitality, the best tasting air and water I’ve ever had. But a savageness, too. Not in any ‘uncivilized’ way, no. I mean e savageness necessary to good life. Of a life of mountains and silver engravings on daggers that read, 'I am so-and-so’s dagger and I am a good blade’.
The old wall crumbling, guardless paths of stone and rock, steep and dangerous. You can slip but also stand at ledges overlooking the city, you watching life, death watching you. You could fall, but only a fool would do that.
Wine and sword.
Tblisi. 4 hours in. Original Hipsters everywhere. Why does everyone look so good? Stop raining. I can’t make out the city. What is the vibe? So far, aggressive. This place was rebuilt 20plus times. Old. Cold. Hip. There is a culture here that hits you. More than the movement for capital in shenzhen. There’s a vibe…can’t describe it.
Thefirst rankings from the College Football Playoff committee were released Tuesday evening with some surprises among the top four teams.
At the top are two unbeaten SEC teams in Georgia and Alabama. The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide are in opposite order in major polls. However, committee chairman Kirby Hocutt noted Georgia’s wins against No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 16 Mississippi State as the reason for putting Kirby Smart’s team ahead of the Alabama, which has no wins among teams in the top 25 in the rankings.
