Rhys unintentionally got two #givethanks posts, but I am grateful for my big Bubba. I tell Rhys all the time that I must be loved, because of all the kitties in the whole world, I got the best one. He has such a sweet and loving personality, and he always lets me give him as many kisses as I want to. I’m grateful that I got to have such a good bub as my fur baby. #givethanks

I am grateful that I have been blessed with an interest in creating art. So much meaning and expression and joy comes from being able to create something with my own hands, and that means a lot to me. I am grateful, especially on the days when I feel like everything I make is hot garbage, that I can look back and see how much my work has progressed, even from just a year ago, it is encouraging to see that all my hard work really is paying off. Michelangelo said “if people knew how hard I had to work for my mastery, it would not seem so wonderful at all,” I don’t consider myself a master of anything by any means, but so much of my heart and soul goes into everything I create, so it is exhilarating to see it pan out.
I am also very grateful for everyone in my life that has come up to me and asked me about my art, or that mentions how much they enjoy seeing my process and pieces. Maybe it shouldn’t be, but it always amazes me when people come out of nowhere, sometimes people I haven’t even met, and they are excited about my work. It means a lot to me to have people who enjoy seeing my creations, and that you support me and inspire me. Thank you for all your support, and kind compliments. (I wanted to show more old work, but it’s all buried in boxes from the move, so one day I will get it out again. Until now you’ll just have to take my word for it, there is a big - embarrassing - difference between then and now, lol)

I am grateful, and give thanks every day for these people. These are my people, and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without their love, senses of humor, and unconditional friendship. These people are always looking out for me, feeding me, encouraging me, sharing interests and music and ideas with me, and making me laugh. I am grateful for the arts, for music and literature and great storytellers, and art. I am always awed by the arts ability to speak to our spirits and connect us to the things in the world that really matter.
I am grateful for all you wonderful creators that inspire me and work to create an encouraging environment of art for the community. In the redwoods we found this plaque that said: “You shall walk where only the wind has walked before, and when all music is stilled you shall hear the singing of the stream and enter the living shelter of the forest,” and the spirit of the place where that memorial stood was so peaceful and welcoming, the reverence there was tangible. I thought that was a good summary of what I am grateful for today, the natural world. I am blessed to live in a world enriched with beautiful flora and fauna that has captured my eye and imagination since I was a little girl. I am blessed to have kinship and family with the creatures that live in my home with me, to learn and love with them. I love hearing the birds and the bell jingling on my Kitty’s collar when he runs up the stairs. I love the roar of the ocean, and the smell of the rain in the air. I love how almost every flower petal sparkles in the light when you look closely, and how colorful animal’s eyes are. I love raising my plant babies and seeing new growth and flowers pop up, learning about their soil recipes and scientific classification. I love how much balance and peace I find by being in the “living shelter of the forest” and how the thrum of a purr or the nudge of a wet nose can soothe the heartaches of life. I love watching the residents’ eyes light up when a bird comes to the birdbath or a raccoon eats all the cat food, or they get to feed some carrots to a horse. I am grateful to have a grandpa that taught me the names of all the birds, and shared his binoculars. I am grateful that I’ve been blessed to see heavenly marvels driving late at night, and falcons hunting, and foxes drinking and herds of antelope in the desert and elk in velvet. I am exquisitely blessed to live in such a beautiful world, one day destined to be even more beautiful. I will never be able to express all the gratitude I feel for being able to live in such a bio diverse planet, and the abundance of inspiration it has given me. #givethanks #hearhim

I am grateful today for my amazing family. I have been wonderfully blessed to have been born into a strong, supportive, and very united family. I am grateful for their unconditional love, and willingness to jump to my aid whenever I need it. I have wonderful, supportive siblings, who have made me laugh, and encouraged me when I’m down. I’m grateful for all the years of playing pretend, and video games, and late night talks. Finding new hobbies and new places to eat, traveling together and laughing. I also have incredible parents, who I am most grateful for making it so easy for me to believe in a loving Heavenly Father because of their shining examples. I have been blessed with loving and supportive aunts and uncles, and many cousins, and the most wonderful grandparents anyone could ask for. I will always cherish the memories of going to grandma and grandpa T’s house for reunions and holidays, going on four wheeler rides on the farm, and listening to grandpa tell us his stories while we laid on the trampoline and looked up at the stars. Visiting Grandma and Grandpa Savage for the holidays was always fun too, when we all stayed together at the Armstrong Mansion they managed, and we watched movies and pretended to solve ghostly mysteries with my cousins in the middle of the night. I also have to mention my cute little pets, and others who are just as much family as the people. I am grateful for all the rich blessings and personal growth that my family has given me. I am supremely loved, and I couldn’t be more grateful for them all. I love you guys! #givethanks
