What the Crows would reply to “Let’s take a group picture”

Nina: “GIVE MOI AN HOUR TO GET READY”

Wylan: “Why?”

Jesper: “yk u can just ask me for a selfie u dont need a whole group picture when u so obviosuly wa t a pcirtue of me to remember me ”

“BUT SURE IM COMING”

Kaz: *leaves on seen and doesn’t show up until Inej drags him *

Inej: “okay see u ”

Matthias: “With the Demjin?”

What the Crows would do when they get a text from a scammer

Inej: *blocks*

Kaz: *scams the scammer*

Jesper: “look buddy, i know im hot and srsly impossible to stop thinking about i know you love me because same dude im fucking hot but i gotta bf and hes SKDKDKKADJEJNDMDNS *sends pic wylan* SRSLY WHAT DO U THINK OF HIM I NEED TO MAKE SURE U AGREE BECOZ AKXKSKFKRKEKSNBDNENS”

Matthias: “Are you one of Nina’s friends?”

Wylan: *leaves on seen*

I feel like if the crows rant to Kaz about anything he would just sit there until they’re finish silently and randomly go “are you done” (UNLESS ITS INEJ THEN HE WOULDN’T SAY THAT) and when they’re finish he goes to leave. but he’d try to make their day slightly better. (AGAIN UNLESS ITS INEJ IF ITS INEJ HE’D- IDK BURN DOWN THE WORLD SHDJDFJ TO SEE HER SMILE AGAIN) for example jesper’s stress af with work or whatever and then the next day there’s no work for him to do

zoya: NIKOLAI I FUCKING HATE YOU

nikolai: its okay love i have enough love for myself for the both of us *winks*

“You are the conduit, Zoya. You will bring the Grisha back to what they were meant to be before time and tragedy corrupted their power. …”

Juris; King of Scars (Leigh Bardugo)

Hello there, are we talking about the same group of people? What exactly is their corruption?

Corruption is getting fed up with being opressed, I guess.

Not that Sankt Juris would know.

I believe he is specifically referring to how amplifiers are claimed, killing the amplifier without giving up a piece of yourself in return. Grisha did lose their druidic shape shifting ability. I would want that back too! Imagine Ivan transforming into his bear on the deck of the whaler and tell me that wouldn’t have been awesome.

helenvader:

I have finished reading Six of Crows this morning. Originally I listened to it as an audiobook in Czech and never finished chapter 2. I do not blame the translation; it was the jurda parem plot that made me give up. But since I wanted to get to know Kaz & Co, I came back to the book telling myself I could always skip what I didn’t like. Turns out I didn’t have to skip anything. It was a really enjoyable read, and I felt I knew more about that world after reading a hundred pages than after the whole trilogy (that I admittedly skim-read, so it’s not an entirely fair comparison).

My favourite character was, probably unsurprisingly, Kaz Brekker, followed by Inej Ghafa. I loved the others, too, with the exception of Nina Zenik. She felt somehow “artificial”, and also quite annoying. I didn’t mind Matthias; his arc was written in a way that made his transition from drüskelle to a decent(-ish) human being believable, at least for me.

I am still not a fan of jurda parem and would have preferred if it wasn’t invented at all, but I had less problems with it than I had with Nina. Also, the tank was hilarious, but it didn’t change my overall impression of the book.

I have started to read The Crooked Kingdom, where I will have to brace myself against the Kherguud (another Grisha plot I am not a fan of), but if it’s as good as SoC, I can survive it. :-)

One thing is clear: Bardugo can write. It’s a pity that the original Grisha trilogy suffers from a first-book syndrome and an unsympathetic main character, which makes the whole structure of the Grishaverse books stand on uneven foundations.

All in all, should you feel like giving Bardugo a chance, this is a good book for it.

I greatly anticipate your Crooked Kingdom commentary.

Welcome to the Kaz & Inej appreciation club.
