I’m really excited for people to see Shadow and Bone. It feels like a lifetime ago that we were making it in Budapest and my friends are sick of me trying to describe what it’s about.
Filled with the most visually stunning images. It’s been 2 months, and I still think of this line.
“Wylan presses a quick, affectionate kiss to her hair, and Kaz’s face, just for that one instant, is crumpled with such a violent look of misery and longing that it takes her breath away.”

okay so I kind of ignored the red spinels and red carpets bc I had a hard time incorporating them into the palette.

Releasing the art I made during finals as stress relief! AHH so many times I wanted to post this as WIP but I stopped myself till I was finished. I was PATIENT. literally shaking from excitement drawing this.
we really got so lucky having freddy carter as kaz brekker. i don’t know if this was all him or the writers but every single time someone touched him during the show, he looked down at the spot they touched and looked visually uncomfortable. not to mention how much it looked like he wanted to help inej when she got injured but he physically couldn’t bring himself to. i cannot put into words how much i love this cast for reading the books and actually caring about the characters they are bringing to life.
I relate to kaz brekker because I too am an asexual traumatized 17 year old filled with rage who wears all black, has a bad leg and whose weakness is cool girls with knives
I have literally never felt more called out in my entire life
Just thought I’d make a quick little appreciation post for:
“I need to see Jakob Hertzoon.“
"Who?”
Kaz felt like he was about to climb out of his skin. He pointed through the window. “Jakob fucking Hertzoon. I want to talk to him.”
Because that for me was the most cathartic thing I’ve ever read ever. I could hear the frustration in my head. It’s also amplified by the fact it’s the only time (I think. Correct me if I’m wrong) that the F word is said in the books. And any swearing at all really. It’s beautiful. 10/10. Like the reading equivalent of a chesty scream or a sigh of relief.
FREDDY CARTERforBACKSTAGE: No one else has lived your life, felt the specific way you’ve felt, viewed the world through your eyes. The only way you diminish your own unique qualities and skills is by trying to be like someone else – to imitate the behaviours of others because it seems to work for them. Stay true to yourself and your own ideas. It’s a cliche, but I think an important one to remember if you want to be happy.
