I had to cut my hair one year post big chop I straighten my hair at the end of September and it wouldn’t revert. It was one time and I guess way too much heat and I did steam treatment, protein treatments, deep conditioner and it came back some (see bottom right) but the back was awful. So I had to have it cut. I like that it isn’t round like before but I loved being able to pull my hair back and now I can’t. I want my hair to grow. I am thinking of trying hairfinity because my hair needs to get longer a whole lot faster.

Update on this journey… Not going to Lie in March 2015 I used heat for the first time since October 2014. My hair is the same length it was prior to the big chop so that says something. But the bounce back to curls has been a struggle especially on my left side and in the front. My hair is longer now so I am usually tucking the left side behind my ear and the front I make it a side bang. The middle of my hair is a completely different texture and it takes some playing to get the nice defined curls. And even then it dries much tighter than the rest of my hair. Lately I have been doing stretched styles like roller sets and then a bun once that gets old I am in a I don’t like my fro mode . I am ready for some real growth. I can’t wait for my hair to be at least to my chin curly. Here is to the next chapters in this journey.

My hair has changed so much in these last two months. The first month I loved Giovanni direct leave in and now I have been using mixed chicks leave in both months I have used Design Essential Honey Gel. I love how my curls are more defined now than in the start. There are definitely days I want to flat iron my hair but I can see the change so I am trying to hang in there.

My texture. I am not good with judging where I fit on the hair scale but I guess 3c/4a. I have many textures. My right side has a great curl, my left side suffers from heat/chemical damage and so does the very front, the back my hair is thinner/fine. The crown/middle is very dense and thick!
