The Entity takes from its surroundings. Sometimes metaphorically, sometimes literally, as Grian knows well. He’d liked that waterwheel. He didn’t have the netherite to replace the lodestones, either. Grian had seen a tree that had clearly grown out of the Entity, wood like nothing he’d ever seen before. Or, he supposed, exactly like wood he’d seen before. All the wood he’d seen before, in one tree.
Grian had been stocking his shop when he’d seen it. An odd patch of tan material. It was the wrong texture for wood. Grian, of course, reached out and touched it. His hand laid on a soft material, and Grian nearly recoiled. It was warm. It was flesh, human flesh, Grian realized with a jolt of horror, and this time he really did pull his hand back from the wall. He looked at it with horror and fought the urge to just run.
Then Grian paused, and looked from his hand to the patch. They were the same color and shade; then everything clicked. As… weird as having human flesh, warm human flesh on a wall was, it made sense. Grian had spent enough time near the entity that it was mimicking his flesh now. Grian couldn’t entirely logic away the disgust, but he could manage most of it. It wasn’t the weirdest thing Grian had ever seen, and at least it was at completely natural. Still, his skin tingled from touching it.

The patch never grows larger, and the Entity never takes on anymore of Grian’s characteristics. He does not even bother pretending he isn’t relieved. It had been unsettling to realize what had happened. Grian is stocking his store again, and the Entity’s heartbeat sounds loudly from behind and above him. Something about it seems only familiar, tugging at something within him. Grian brushes it off.

Grian always knows when his shop needs restocking. When a curious Scar runs a hand over the oddly warm patch of tan on the Entity, Grian shivers with the phantom feeling of hands touching him. Mumbo arrives from time spent away and Grian can tell, all the way from the caves under the earth, that his neighbor has arrived.
Grian becomes aware of the Entity in a stronger, deepr, and more intimate way. The stock has run out becomesI need to gather three more stacks of waxed aged copper blocks. Knowing that somebody is nearby the Entity becomes being able to tell their exact position, direction, and speed. Grian knows what the Entity will produce from its body or take from elsewhere before the Entity does so.
And Grian doesn’t realize what has happened. Until he does.
Grian as an alchemist studying the Entity. It grows. It absorbs. It has a heartbeat and it is so fascinating. A tree of mixed wood grows not long after Grian plants his forest farm. One day, three quarters of his water wheel go missing, only to be found melded into the Entity.
Grian as an alchemist studying the Entity. He doesn’t know it, but the Entity doesn’t just grow and absorb. It emits. And he has built his house next to it, carved his shop into it, and based his life around it. The energy curls around him. Maybe it is an uncaring observer. Maybe it sees his devotion and is pleased. Maybe it wants him, wants to uncover and discover him as he longs to do to it.
Mumbo lives close to the Entity as well. He, however, has built a vault to protect himself and what he holds dear. He has left for a long time, and the grass grows wild over the closed off area that holds his home. He is safe.
Grian brushes it off when some parts of his skin begin to feel rough. Almost like tree bark. When his nails change color with time and weather he laughs and maybe he should spend less time playing with copper. When Grian jumps off the wall, he lands wrong. He braces for the snapping of bone and the sharp pain that comes with it. Nothing comes but the dull ache of soon to be formed bruises. Grian must not have landed as badly as he thought he did. Little did he know that the diamond armor he always wears has sunk beneath his skin, and now his bones shine blue.
I saw a post awhile back about how we should have a hermitship day. Like a wave of positivity, supporting shippers and people who are okay with shippers. The post died down, I think.
But having a hermitship day is even more important now, because we are losing shippers, pro-shippers, and people who can’t stand all the negativity. If you don’t want to, or are scared of hate/harassment, then it’s fine to not contribute. This is purely voluntary, you shouldn’t do it because you think you are obligated.
Two of the hermitcraft tumblrs I follow went on hiatus/left hermitcraft tumblr indefinitely because of all the discourse, negativity and hate. If we help others maybe people won’t leave, maybe we can show the antis that we’re here to stay.
Another IMPORTANT THING is to tag everything properly. If people don’t like hermitship, or have it blocked due to avoiding the discourse, then we should respect that. As has been pointed out, we need to be kind.
The day will be Feb. 18th, the day after Valentines Day, and a weekend.

Right, in order to clear this up, to anybody asking, the date is Feb. 18.
The date in the original post said it was the day after Valentines Day and a weekend. That is because it was supposed to be on the 15th, but I messed some dates up and put the 18th up instead. The date is the 18th, for clarification.

So headcanon that the only difference between the two are if they are on twitch or YouTube. And they have a bit of a rivalry going on.
