I’ve been wanting to create something like this for a long time and it ended up being rushed in 3 days…. but I made an animated book Hiccup after all!
This is probably the end of my time in the httyd books/Cressida Cowell fandom because I do not have time anymore, otherwise I would have animated a whole series like this
i will not die until the httyd books are at least as popular as the movies and that IS a threat
YES! I second that! I think I will join you in that threat! ^_^
I say that’s improbable, but who knows..
Regardless, I don’t third that, ‘cause then everybody’d spoil who Fishlegs’ family is*, in much the same way as how people spoil the end of the Harry Potter series.
What I really want is an animated retelling of them.
Huh. I never really thought of that.
And I agree. There SHOULD be an animated retelling of the books. Because they MORE than deserve it! XD
We were ripped off.
2d animated 12 (or 13, since the twelfth book is literally split into two parts) part miniseries when?
i cannot imagine being norbert and being so disrespected by a little girl and then to be knocked out by her? oh my god, i’m stepping down as chief bruh ain’t no way
Concept: How To Train Your Dragon but from the pov of Hiccup I and/or Hiccup II following around Hiccup III as ghosts.
@juniemunie tagging you because you drew something like this
Hiccup I and Hiccup II as narrators would be amazing. Hiccup I is sweet and supportive and whispers “you’re doing amazing sweetie” every chapter while Hiccup II is a sarcastic little shit whose commentary is entirely in Dragonese until Furious shows up, then he starts sobbing.
YOU INSPIRED ME HERES SOME ART SKFJGNLSDFK IMMA HAVE TO DRAW THAT SCENARIO SERIOUSLY KSJDFBGLSDFKJGLS
But like,,, first of all is the question whether hiccup can see and hear them, cuz boy oh boy does talking to thin air outcast him even harder
i bet fishlegs and camicazi just try their best to roll with it, while the only ones who actually believe the ghosts are around are maybe the dragons, old wrinkly, and excellinor, though i doubt the latter two can actually see them
if they do interact, they could probably help him with dragonese lessons, and make him feel a little less alone and provide moral support
but i also realized that, this would ruin the whole finding out about the prophecy thing and plot convenience. so i thought maybe the ghosts cant fully by heard or be completely seen at times? like hiccup has to really concentrate to see them and hear what they are saying, and they’re background noise or an annoyance most of the time (especially hiccup II’s constant commentary)
they wanna tell him it doesnt get any easier, but they cant explain it fully cuz they conveniently get unheard by hiccup due to some loud noise or situation
and hell yeah hiccup the first is both of the hiccups go to comfort and moral support
AAAAAAAA this is the absolute best thing
I love the one where Hiccup III is saying “please I want a boring day” and the other two are like “uhhhhhh ”

So I just reread the “Hiccup: The viking who was seasick” book and since there aren’t any contradictions with the movie universe I always considered as canon in the movie universe. I mean we don’t have a lot of Information about movieHiccup’s childhood so i have a lot of headcanons related to the book:
1. Hiccup being a very frightened kid. Especially of spiders, thunder and sudeen loud noises. I imagine him still being a little scared of these things when he’s older. He tries to hide it from the other riders but i doesn’t take the twins a long time to notice his reaction when a spider near him, to Hiccup ’s cost.
2. Hiccup wearing these shoes when he was little. Idk but I love these shoes for little Hiccup
3. Even though he most of the time is a really shy, polite kid, Hiccup already has the smart, sassy traits he later has in the movies.
4. Stoick doing push ups before breakfast. This is seriously my favourite headcanon.
5. Hiccup is seasick. I’ve already seen a lot of posts and headcanons about that, but i can easily imagine as well that Hiccup is seasick and just hates riding boats but has no problem flying Toothless.
6. Stoick being Stoick but still a great Dad for little Hiccup (just like we’ve seen in the flashbacks in Httyd 3)
Httyd except the book!verse is integrated into the movie!verse because I desperately want these two to be brothers
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I LOVE THIS. SO FUCKING MUCH. YES THEY ARE BROTHERS THEY ARE FAMILY THEY SASS EACH OTHER YES BOOK HICCUP TRANSLATES FOR MOVIE HICCUP YES YES YES YES YES YES YES I LOVE THIS SO MUCH
tumblr still won’t make my art show up on the tag but my text where i complained about it yesterdy IS showing up so maybe i just have ti wait??? i posted it anyways idc anymore haha
UPDATE: it only shows up when i have this posted HAHAHH
i have no idea what hiccup the first is suppose to look like so i got inspired by other fanart of him lmao (mainly @httydbooks-doodler tbh)
(I know i traumatized y‘all with the illustrations of Hiccup the third SO NOW I can post all the nice fanart i made in the last few weeks :D it‘s a lot so get excited:3)
Technically, there are fifteen books in the How to Train Your Dragon Series, since the loose continuity style of the first few books means that Day of the Dreader and How To Train your Viking could feasibly slot somewhere between How to Train your Dragon and How to Break a Dragon’s Heart. And there’s nothing in the main twelve implying the events of The Viking who was seasick didn’t happen when Hiccup was a little kid.
Oh yeah, Cowell wrote three little side-books for World book day. The Day of the Dreader, How to Train your Viking, and an (in)complete guide to Dragons (think the little blurbs about Dragons that are scattered throughout the books but it’s a whole book of that). Whether or not you consider them canon is up to you.
Before she wrote HTTYD, Cowell wrote a book for little kids/toddlers called Hiccup: The viking who was seasick. This one is so dubiously canon that it could feasibly be a prequel to both the Books canon and the Dreamworks canon. This is also the only one with no Dragons in it.
This is all my Doomsday art, in case you don’t want to go hunting down all ten posts. Also I wanted to see all of them lined up. Not too shabby for only having had my iPad for a year!
It has come to my attention. That some of you. have not read the HTTYD books. Change That.
heres some book toothless doodles/design concepts, ik his movie counterpart is more popular but in the books he is just so funny. he reminds me of my cat i love him
