So looking through fanart I’ve noticed people having trouble with Snotlout’s nose so I thought I’d share the research I’ve done on the character’s facial structure. He just kind of has a box head with a button nose and the worst case of bedhead documented in human history. Also, he has giant eyebrows.
As for the body, I’m not one to police artistic license, but if we’re going to be accurate he’s been built like a brick shit-house since he was 15 and looked like the buffest 10-year-old. I like to hc him as kinda squishy in the middle, those arms look more like strongman or powerlifter muscles than vanity stuff (”I can throw an entire sheep” VS “look how chiseled I am”). I’m 90% sure this character was never meant to remain full-body on screen for more than 0.2 seconds in his first 2 models because those legs are nothing short of horrifying. The RTTE model appears to have made his head and nose significantly bigger and his ears a bit smaller.
So yeah, uh, Snotlout reference post I guess. I’ve drawn him so many times it’s like second nature and I still keep a google tab open sometimes. Go draw a Snooter.
I know what Hiccup means when he tells Mala that they’ll “be landing soon to water the dragons.” But like, it’s funny to imagine like, Hiccup with like, a watering can pouring water on Toothless’s head.
Can you just imagine? Stoick calls him Jonathan and everyone who knows him as Hiccup is like ??????? And he’s just like, yeah, that’s my name. I just go by Hiccup.
I had a friend like this in high school. He always went by his middle name and everyone knew him by his middle name. Like no one knew of his actual first name until the substitute called attendance and everyone in class was like “wtf we have a new student too?!”
A good point! Some people just go by their middle name because they prefer it!
The idea has not let me go yet, honestly. I want to write a Modern AU with it.
the implications of hiccup naming him toothless…… he’s “toothless” literally when he’s friendly and curious and playful like how he is around hiccup, how hiccup sees him, and his teeth only come out when he’s violent and defensive and scary which is how berk sees him…. toothless really is NAMED for the fact of their friendship and the fact that hiccup saw him for the best in him instead of the worst which is also exactly what toothless saw in hiccup.
