he’s right and he should say it

yes. yes, he should

Leaving readers off on a cliffhanger is honestly so satisfying. Like, you don’t know what’s gonna happen but I do and I could tell you, but I’m not gonna, because I’m mean and enjoy watching you suffer until the update. There’s zero pressing reason for a cliffhanger. It is literally just there to cause chaos and make you yell at me in the comments.

Really enjoying any and all interactions between Jen and Nate in JELLIE…they highlight the contrast between them so well! Like, Jen is this hot-blooded, outgoing, affectionate dork who wears her heart on her sleeve and is Elise’s #1 fan and isn’t afraid to open up to her, and then you have Nate who’s so horribly repressed he can’t even compliment Ellie to her face when prompted. I know I initially said the only problem with Nate/Ellie is bad timing, what with her being sucked into a world that’s not his, but honestly? She’s already so reserved. The last thing she needs is a boyfriend who can only communicate in jokes and understatements.

I stand corrected. Nate Fairweather is a terrible choice as Elise’s boyfriend regardless of Jen, and even without the band they wouldn’t have worked out in the long term.

All these years in fandom, all this time exploring different ships and dynamics, and no ship dynamic will ever give me quite as much joy as “aloof-seeming rival who has the Biggest Soft Spot Ever for the plucky underdog.”

When the underdog works their heart and soul out to get acknowledged by the rival, and meanwhile the rival has been hopelessly crushing on them for two years and is just too damn repressed to do anything about it. Nothing else hits like that. Absolutely nothing.

Concept: Love potions, but specifically for familial love.

Think about it. Rejected children coming to the potion vendor to win the love of their unpleasable parents. People who want to gain the love of a sibling who’s never seemed to like them. Lonely grandparents trying to get their estranged kids and grandkids to remember them again. Parents who feel guilty about not loving their child enough and use the potion on themselves.

Sometimes it works. Sometimes the potion shows no effect at all, and the people in question learn their loved ones have loved them all along. Sometimes the newfound love manifests itself in awful, toxic ways, and people learn a hard lesson about how a family member loving you doesn’t magically make things okay between you two. (And some people may even learn both of these at once.)

Just…familial love potions. That’s the post.

All these naming resources by country and language, but what I really need is a resource for what generation a foreign name’s tied to. I live in constant fear of naming my teenage character like a middle-aged accountant.

A SHORT UPDATE ON THE WRITER

I know I’ve been inactive lately, but I’ve been wanting to come back, so! Quick status update.

I’ve been by no means idle, in fact the reason for my inactivity on Writeblr is (ironically) writing. I’m juggling three stories, two of which update once a week, the third twice a week, and between that and non-writing obligations I haven’t had much time to come on here. But here’s a quick breakdown of what’s going on with my current WIPs:

JELLIE: Still ongoing and will be for a while. It’s doing decently well, and it’s a very very slow burn so I’m not getting out of this commitment anytime soon. Not much to report there, except I think I’m learning to write songs through this story. Even melodies! HOW?!

Queen Bees Only: Also ongoing, I’d say it’s past the halfway point and I’ll be able to start resolving stuff soon! I had the fortune of getting it featured on Tapas for Women’s History Month back in March and it really blew up, nowhere near the success of Shut Up Cinderella obviously since it’s a smaller genre, but I’m still very proud of it! The comment section’s a delight!

Sunlit Mage: Ongoing too, at the turning point right now, but there’s still a ton of plot ahead. I find myself constantly baffled by how plotty and dark it is compared to my usual stories. It’s not exactly doing numbers, but since I’m writing it for myself, that doesn’t bother me at all!

Other than that, expect a proper Writeblr intro/WIP overview post for me to pin soon, since my current pinned post is a bit outdated. Plus, I’ve been working on a new story idea (to the surprise of no one ever) so expect something on that front too! Hopefully this time I’ll manage to stay active!

I’m sorry ya’ll but I gotta say it, we just gonna not talk about how triflin it was for them to sit on that nasty ass bed?

You have heard of “looking out the car window pretending to be in a music video” now get ready for, “ doing chores imagining myself to be the protagonist whose about to run into some epic love/magic/adventure and is currently clueless”.

I mean, she basically followed them home. Seriously, they returned from the community lot and two seconds later Hattie barges onto the lot.

Hattie: Seriously, he lovesme. Look at that smile! I mean, you’re good with these guys. You could get another one to move in…

Sienna: What part of ‘GET YER OWN, DAMMIT!’ do you not understand?

Hattie: But…This one…

Sienna: *sigh* If I feed you, will you shut up?

Hattie: …………..Well, maybe…

tbh I think that’s a perfectly reasonable question for him to ask

Honestly if anyone of any gender is buying me menstrual products they’re getting a picture of the package, because nobody deserves to be thrown to the feminine hygiene shelf unaided
