I’ve launched a Kickstarter to fund my newest book!

I’m a small independent publisher in the UK and I make books to elevate underrepresented topics and voices.

This newest book is called BECOMING DANGEROUS and it’s a collection of essays by twenty witchy femmes, queer conjurers, and magical rebels on summoning the power to resist. It’s a book about ritual and resistance!

I have some badass rewards over at the Kickstarterpage from talented people like Jen Bartel,Kate Leth, and Julia Scheele. Along with tarot readings and moon-cycle readings from our contributors!

I would really appreciate your support! Thanks!

BETTER THAN IRL: TRUE STORIES ABOUT FINDING YOUR PEOPLE ON THE UNTAMED INTERNET

The internet 10, 15, 20 years ago felt massive, yet tangible, like a vast country I could explore, full of people I could meet and get to know on a deep level. We could be naked in this place, both physically and emotionally. I loved it intensely. Finding my people on the internet allowed me to become a better version of myself. One who wasn’t shy, or ashamed, or ignorant, or irresponsible.

The internet was the catalyst for so much good in my life, and it was all because of the people I found there. These people gathered me into their arms and held me when I was broken and a mess. They taught me about feminism and how to be accountable for my actions regardless of my intentions. They made space for my mistakes and supported my creative endeavours. They gave me feedback that was thoughtful and nuanced; they gave me burritos when I crashed on their couches. They once DJ’d the soundtrack to my life in one of my most memorable internet moments.

I am deeply grateful to the rowdy landscape the internet used to be. I am so full of joy when I think of the friends and lovers and family I made over the last decade or more.

And that’s why I’m making this book. I don’t ever want to forget what it was like to run wild with a bunch of weirdos from all over the world who had my back. I have a feeling, you can relate.

ONLY THREE DAYS LEFT TO BACK THIS BOOK!

I didn’t want to make a Kickstarter video because I didn’t think anyone watched Kickstarter videos. I WAS SO WRONG. The BECOMING DANGEROUS Kickstarter video has almost 1000 plays. Incredible.

Music by contributor Meredith Yayanos, and animation by Emma Price. So many amazing people contributed video to make this happen and I’m so thankful (full credits at end of video!)

The last time I bought ISBNs – unique serial numbers that your book needs to have in order to be catalogued by bookstores and libraries – I decided that I was just going to buy a block of ten. It’s a vastly reduced price if you do that, and I figured, well, the odds are good that across the rest of my life I will write ten more books, or at least create ten print works that would need ISBNs. And if I don’t, it’s an acceptable loss to eat.

I just looked at my workflow for the month of May and I am going to use at least four ISBNs in the first half of this year alone (Fete and Jes each need two, one for print and one for epub), so I think the block of 10 has already paid for itself, actually.

Are ISBNs magic? Did they cause these books to be written? We may never know.
