Progress. The left side is two crows in winter on snow-covered branches. The other side? Well, you can find out in a month. :) (Taken with Instagram)

A-mazing.

I don’t even know why I take pictures. I just like to do it. So, just a reminder, you don’t need an end game, you can just do shit because it feels good.

I’ve launched a Kickstarter to fund my newest book!

I’m a small independent publisher in the UK and I make books to elevate underrepresented topics and voices.

This newest book is called BECOMING DANGEROUS and it’s a collection of essays by twenty witchy femmes, queer conjurers, and magical rebels on summoning the power to resist. It’s a book about ritual and resistance!

I have some badass rewards over at the Kickstarterpage from talented people like Jen Bartel,Kate Leth, and Julia Scheele. Along with tarot readings and moon-cycle readings from our contributors!

I would really appreciate your support! Thanks!

Seven years ago Faye Daniels met Katie West in a hotel room in Toronto. They got naked, took photos, and then afterwards decided to get to know each other. They realised they had much more in common than a love of self-portraiture and photography. They’re both the same age and both born in September. They both use self-portraiture as a form of therapy. They both have a brother four years younger. They both worked at Kelsey’s in their youth. They both love 2000s RnB. They both drink way too much Diet Coke. They both have amazing women in their lives named Kaye, and before they met, had never heard of anyone else with that name before. They both live for pizza. They’re both interested in exploring honesty, femininity, strength, and vulnerability through their photos. They both love photo adventures with no maps and the open road. And they both have no problem ordering mozzarella sticks for breakfast.

Since then Faye and Katie have traveled together to Upstate New York, Columbus, Montreal, Iceland, and countless other road trips to shoot each other and other babes. For their latest adventure to Hawaii, you can expect gorgeous scenery, a lot of car signing to Childish Gambino, nudity in all the most appropriate and inappropriate places, and spectacular photos of a couple of babes who’ve spent nearly a decade getting very good at shooting and modeling with one another.

Get your copy of BABEFEST 3. Only one week left!

Katie West and Faye Daniels are creating the third volume of BABEFEST magazine, a publication of photography that celebrates babes. We’ve been shooting together for seven years and have been the core of BABEFEST magazine for the first two volumes.

We really love having photo adventures and exploring what it means to be a babe in this patriarchal world, and we don’t think these two things need to be mutually exclusive. BABEFEST Vol 3: Hot & Cold will be over 150 pages of high quality, full-colour photographs delivered straight to you.

In 2016 we traveled to Iceland and took EPIC photos at black sand beaches, secluded mountain cabins, haunted hidden caves, freezing glacier lakes, and magical waterfalls. But then we never really showed the photos to anyone. In May, we’re heading to Hawaii to take more EPIC photos at more waterfalls, in the ocean, the mountains, the forests! We thought oh wait! We should collect the two photo trips together in BABEFEST Volume 3 and call it Hot & Cold! Because it’s hot in Hawaii and cold in Iceland. Get it? We are very clever. :D

This Kickstarter is only running for 3 weeks and it’s the only way you can pick up BABEFEST Vol 3: Hot & Cold! It’s also the only way for you to pick up some excellent personalised rewards like postcards, Instax photos, and dance videos! Whatever funds are leftover will be helping to fund our trip to Hawaii.

I didn’t want to make a Kickstarter video because I didn’t think anyone watched Kickstarter videos. I WAS SO WRONG. The BECOMING DANGEROUS Kickstarter video has almost 1000 plays. Incredible.

Music by contributor Meredith Yayanos, and animation by Emma Price. So many amazing people contributed video to make this happen and I’m so thankful (full credits at end of video!)

Found a few lost polaroids in the bottom of a suitcase and so glad to have found this gem.

Just noticed this. Wait. This was in 2014? Crazy.

And the difference between them.”

I write fears and affirmations in a notebook. The fears are small and dense, dark and tight. The affirmations are large and airy, looping sails of Ps and Ds and outstretched limbs of Ts and Ys hoping to catch and become full of truth.

Hello!

I have totally refreshed my Patreon page, including adjusting the reward levels (with new stuff like access to my Selfie Dropbox [imagine the epic] and access to entire photosets, and Q+A videos [want to have a feminist chat? because I do!]) and adding new goals. Also, it is now 108% cuter than before.

Patreon allows me to take pictures, make videos, and do freelance writing and editing. At the moment, this is all the money I make in a month, so I would appreciate your patronage very much. Even $1 a month makes a difference!

Thank you!

My copy of BABEFEST finally came while I was away in Canada. It’s pretty beat up (is this MagCloud’s fault? The Royal Main’s fault? Who knows!), but inside it’s beautiful! I love it, and not just because I helped make it.

I had actually finished the entire magazine a lot earlier in the year, but decided I hadn’t taken enough risks and pushed myself enough to learn while making it. So I started all over again and tried to make it more interesting. I learned A LOT, including spending many, many hours figuring out how to make a neon light sign with Photoshop.

Anyway,you should buy it. :)

There is nothing wrong with you.

You aren’t damaged, not because of this.

The thrill you feel when the heavy sting of a hand on your cheek cuts into you isn’t indicative of some wider malaise, an underlying sickness that you can only cope with when you’re drowning in pain. That is not why you want what you want.

You aren't submissive because your daddy didn’t love you enough. I’m not Dominant because I’m a borderline psychopath. I didn’t pull the legs off spiders when I was a kid, and I don’t have fantasies about killing my co workers. There’s nothing wrong with me. There’s nothing wrong with you.

This isn’t an outlet for the darkness inside of you, some fucked up shadow that you have to keep hidden when the civilised people are around. We’re not heroin addicts in the corner, getting high and getting low, and hitting rock bottom because of our addiction. This isn’t an addiction, and guilt isn’t your problem to have. You have nothing to be ashamed of, you’re not fucked up. Not you. No more than anyone else.

Whatever issues you may or may not have, they’re not why you’re getting into D/s. They’re not why you like to be spanked, or degraded, or why you want to feel like you belong. Those are the accusing cries of those who recognise the attraction but are too cowardly to admit that to themselves. And so they lash out, and try to hit some truth somewhere. Everyone has issues. Of course they’re going to hit home eventually. Ignore them. Fuck them. You have this. You have me. They have denial.

There’s nothing wrong with you. You’re as perfect as anyone, just like this.
