#insectober
Day 23: Caddisfly
I don’t know much about these but they’re pretty cool looking!
Day 24: In The Pond
Oh man. I love water scorpions!!!! I found a few in a lake I visited and basically just followed them around most of the day! So cool!
Day 25: Damselfly
My family calls them “buddies” because when we swim they come land on you and hang out a while!
Prompts from @saturniidays insectober list
Day 20: Bioluminescent
Recently I found bioluminescent click beetles in my area!! I was so excited to see such a beautiful green glow coming from a click beetle!
Day 21: Trapped
I got a lil lazy lol. Enjoy the silly little doodle.
Day 22: millipede
~Totally tubular~
Prompts from @saturniidays insectober list!
Day 17: Predator
I chose a giant water bug for this one. Those guys are absolute beasts!! Love to see them in action!
Day 18: Extinct
I was looking or something prehistoric but the Xerces Blue Butterfly caught my eye. Sad to know they’re extinct :(
Day 19: centipede
I chose the house centipede over my states native red-headed centipede because look at that cute lil guy!!! I hope I get to see one of these some day!
Prompts from @saturniidays insectober list!
Day 7: Social
My family is unfortunately dealing with a huge nest of these highly aggressive buzzy boiz. Yellow Jackets have made a nest underneath a railroad tie at our summer house and oh man they’ll protect their home in a swarm if you get the slightest bit too close to it! My mom, g-ma, and g-pa. Have been stung so far :c
Here’s what mom looked like after her run in with one that got her riiiight on the lip!
Anyway,@saturniidays has a wonderful insectober list! Go give it a looksie and maybe consider joining in!
Day 6: Noisy
Cicadas are my fave bugs of all time forever I love those noisy babies!!!!
Check out @saturniidays insectober list!
It’s not too late to join in! :D
Day 5: Isopod
Oh man. I love isopods. Pill bugs were the first bug-like creature I can remember interacting with when I was little. Such cool little creatures!
Check out @saturniidays insectober list!
Day 3 of @saturniidaysinsectober!
Aposematic
The vivid crimson of the velvet ant (who is actually a solitary wasp!) makes a great warning sign saying “if you bite me, you’re in for a nasty sting!”
I’ve seen many of these guys over the past year! Always so cool to see running through the leaf litter!
I’m having so much fun with this list!
Insectober by @saturniidays Day 2: Vinegaroon
These insects are so freakin cool looking! My drawing can’t do them justice. Apparently there is a species of these that are native to my state! So cool! Hopefully I’ll find one someday!!!
October kinda snuck up on me! But here’s my very rushed and sloppy day one picture!
Go check out @saturniidays insectober prompt list for 2020!
