Labour of love: I visited this hidden gem in Dun Laoghaire today - The Oratory of the Sacred Heart, a commemoration to the many local Irishmen who died in WWI.

The incredibly talented Sister M. Concepta Lynch dedicated 16 years of her life hand painting the walls between 1920-36 in the style of the Gaelic revival, filled with fine details (including a tribute to her father, an artist himself) and hidden symbols from Early Irish Christian Art. The stained glass windows were provided by the famous Harry Clarke Studio of Dublin.

Today is International Mother Language Day ️

It is incredibly important to preserve and promote indigenous languages all over the world. At least 43% of the estimated 7000 languages spoken in the world are endangered.

Although I’m no where near fluent in Irish, I do my best to include our native language wherever I can in my business. This year, I’m also making a conscious effort to include more gaeilge in my work - so I started a series of seanfhocail designs for kits. You’ve probably already seen the first one (níl aon tinteán mar do thinteán féin) and here’s two more I’m working on. Which one is your favourite?

First day getting back into the routine and I’m feeling fresh and ready for the year ahead! New orders are packed and ready to be sent out tomorrow. And the website has been updated.

On that note, this Needleweaving kit has been added to the shop. And there’s a couple of discontinued kits that are half price! They will not be restocked so this is your last chance to get some of the old designs as I make room for exciting things to come!

They’re here!!

This is something that has been in the back of my mind for so long, and I’m so excited that its finally a reality!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you may remember some patches I made with these words and phrases on them. At the time I really wanted to be able to offer them on t-shirts too, but it just wasn’t practical. I don’t have the space to be stocking a variety of sizes and colours in each design, and to offer them at an affordable price. But when I came across @printful I knew this could be the solution! I’m starting out with some simple machine embroidered designs and hopefully will be adding some printed products with my own artwork very soon. So what do you think?

My latest series of Ogham pieces are ready for new homes!

Unfortunately with the current restrictions, I cant post them out right away. But at 6pm this evening (irish time), they will be available for PRE-ORDER!

This means you can reserve and pay for the ones you want. Then as soon as restrictions are lifted and I can get to the post office, they’ll be sent to your door.

Working on some new Ogham pieces today! What Irish words should I stitch next?
