if you are posting a screenshot or picture, especially one that has to do with disability, please, please, please provide a description for disabled folks who might not be able to see or read those images without that description.

it’s a real disconnect to post something about disability and then make it so that part of the disabled community cannot read or access what you just posted.

saying “credits to the gif makers” is not crediting gifs btw. even on a slow laptop you can send links to the post of the gifs to yourself in a personal discord server, (i used to do this), and add them once youve made the stimboard. i believe you can credit on mobile too with tumblrs new update

I’ve seen multiple people genuinely asking whats wrong with playing their music on a speaker/their phone in public rather than through headphones. While it baffles me that you can’t reason it out I’m taking it in good faith that you genuinely don’t know - so here’s a list of reasons you shouldn’t:

- It sounds bad. It doesnt matter if people like the song, you might be close enough to your phone speaker for it to sound largely as intended, but everyone else is getting a distorted mess.

- Unwanted noise is extra stimulation in the already overpowering public space. Yes this is particularly bad for neurodivergent people but I actually want to acknowledge that this effects Everyone. Everyone has a stimulation threshold and unwanted music easily pushes people closer to it.

- Its distracting/disruptive. People want to focus on their own conversations, listen to their own music through their earbuds, or just be alone with their thoughts. Your music is intruding.

- Differing taste. This one is less significant but people around you just dont always like the same music you do. In extreme cases they might actively hate a song you’re playing.

- People have the right to as close to silence as they can get. If they’re in a shop playing obnoxious music they can leave, they can change the radio in their car, they can skip the song on their playlist. They have no control over what you are putting on and in bus situations they can’t get away from you.

- Any other number of reasons; Maybe your music is offensive, maybe its uncensored and there are children about, maybe someone just got horrible news and your perky feelgood song feels like salt in the wound, maybe someone’s sick or hungover or in pain and your music feels like a drill to the skull.

You might think your music is good, it might make you smile after a hard day. Nobody is saying dont listen at all, just put in earphones. To everyone around you its the equivilent of a drunk guy singing loudly and off key at the back of the bus. Maybe it makes some people smile to think he’s having a good time, maybe some people are scared his lack of boundaries will mean he could act out, maybe some people wish he would just shut up.

you are controlling an aspect of a public space which affects everyone in that space. That’s the jist of it. By playing music in public, you’re saying “my desired sound and its volume are all that matters, and nobody else’s”. That’s why quiet, beyond a reasonable speaking volume, should be the default in public. If quietness is unsettling to you, you can fix it by listening to something through earbuds without affecting anyone else, but if too much/the wrong kind of noise is unsettling to others, it’s much harder for them to block it out.

Shared spaces should be kept at conditions tolerable to everyone, where reasonable. That’s almost the definition of a shared space. If you dominate that space in some way, eg by playing music out loud, you are making it your space. You are making it unwelcoming for others. That is rude and anti-social behavior.

it’s the last one, really. just the last one.

Is it okay to include very loud phone conversations people have on speakerphone? Because I don’t need nor wish to hear someone’s private conversation please.

I NEED people to understand that condoms aren’t free because “MEN like to FUCK lol,” they’re free because thirteen thousand people die from AIDS every year in the US alone.

Stop framing free menstrual products as more essential than free condoms. They should BOTH be free.

If you want to clown on this post, I can and will block you.

Free condoms are not less important than free menstrual supplies.

“But you can abstain from sex!!!”

Sex workers deserve safe working conditions. Impoverished people deserve access to safe sex.

End of story.

people who like to have sex for fun definitely deserve to have access to safe sex. like what’s the problem here, do you go around cutting off the seat belts on roller coasters because anyone doing some wild shit should beforcedto do it in the most dangerous possible way?

total sluts deservesafe sex, which includes: accurate information, affordable birth control, and protection from disease.

it’s been said before and it will be said again but i’m begging you all nicely to restrain yourselves from being so casually aggressive and rude and obnoxious in the tags & reblogs of a complete stranger’s posts. no one wants to know that you hate [tv show that op giffed]. no one wants to know that you hate [character that op drew]. no one wants to hear you being ugly and negative for no reason. say what you want to say in your own post. don’t hit the reblog button. blacklist relevant tags. unfollow or block relevant accounts. log out. shut down. get help.

SERIOUSLY why is this SO HARD for people to understand! You’re entitled to whatever opinion you want but there’s NO REASON to share it in a place where the fans of that thing are going to be smacked in the face with your rudeness and hate.

Saw a post about whether Johnny Bravo would date a trans woman, and now the thought is in my head and I hate being able to picture exactly how that conversation goes, so now I have to write it out.

You ask him, as a hypothetical question. He says he doesn’t know what that word means, but you said “women” so now he’s interested. No, the other word. He doesn’t know what “hypothetical” means. He interrupts your explanation to let you know that sounds boring, he doesn’t want to know what “hypothetical” means. What was that other word, you said “women”.

You try to explain as simply as you can, being frequently interrupted by reminders that he is uninterested in abstract concepts and unfamiliar terminology. He doesn’t know what a chromosome is. He doesn’t wantto know what a chromosome is. He is unsure how any of this subject is related to the ladies but he’s optimistic about it.

After about half an hour, he finishes with asking “ok but what’s the difference”. After a while of unfruitful back and forth, you understand what he’s asking what is the difference to him, how does this distinction affect him and his immediate surroundings. You have no idea how to word this in a way that would be understandable to a gerbil with A1 level english skills.

“If… If trans women are women, there’s… More women?”

“More women. Nice. Then let’s go with that one.”

He walks into the sunset, leaving you unsure whether anything of value was actually achieved. As a matter of fact it feels likely that instead of you enlightening him, he actually managed to make you stupider.

This is on point.

And to the people who’ve been whining about how these recent posts are ‘guilting’ people in to reblogging art/fics/content ‘just to help their numbers’ or saying its stupid that tumblr creators have been asking that people reblog rather than just leave a like on their work because “you should be able to use the site however you want and if you want to use it like twitter/instagram/tiktok and never reblog anything that’s fine! uwu” or whatever: worsties you’re literally getting content - fics fanart etc - for FREE. If doing the literal bare minimum of sharing content that you LIKE to help and show creators appreciation for the work they put in is simply Too Much for you then start paying. Leave a Kofi donation or subscribe to their Patreon if they have one. No? You don’t want to do that either?? Then stop the “wah wah how dare creators who are spending hours to provide me with free content for my enjoyment ask me to take the extra step to Share the content that I already Like and use the site the way it was Supposed to be used and Ruin my ~blog aesthetic~ just to hELp ThEir NuMbErS“ give me a break

Real talk: I stopped making my own Sherlock fanart because it’s just too depressing to watch people ‘like’ it but not reblog it. Yay, glad people like it, but no-one else will see it because either a) they can’t be bothered to reblog, b) it’s not ‘good enough’ for their blog or c) despite repeated attempts to educate Tumblr users, they STILL don’t understand how this hellsite works.

A note about ‘not good enough’ - taste is subjective. Some art you think is crap, someone else will think is beautiful. The new artists who are getting their proportions wrong today are the people who will produce something amazing a year from now with more practice - but they aren’t going to practice or share their art if they feel they’re throwing their efforts into the void.

The reblog button is RIGHT THERE. It takes me 6 hours to make a piece of art, it takes you 1 second to hit reblog. If people aren’t willing to do that, then why invest my time? I make original art for myself instead and just don’t share it here.

These days I reblog TF out of all the Sherlock/Johnlock fanart I come across and people follow my account for that. I’m happy to help. It just sucks that when I spent hours making my own art to share that it tanked. I’m far from the only artist to go through this, and sadly won’t be the last.

Reblog fanart or there won’t be any more fanart.

Laters.
