On the day Jimi’s death, Eric Clapton had bought a stratocaster for lefties and was going to give it to Hendrix. Took her to Lyceum, a London theater, but Hendrix, who was playing with Eric Burdon’s band, left before Clapton found him. Jimi died hours later. Clapton was devastated and 15 years later confessed, “When Jimi died, I cried all day because he didn’t take me with him”
