Too bad the only person aboard the ship with the skillset and resources to help him is literally the worst option.

This is incredibly late, my family is slightly less chaotic now and I can finally sit down and draw. I really want to thank my author, @idontdowellunderpressure for being so patient with me because I was honestly a nightmare to work with. Just one thing to say about this: When I read this one particular scene for the very first time, I knew exactly how I was going to draw it.
“Finally, a work of art I can appreciate.” The man tilts the glass of merlot he’s holding in a mock toast. His voice is smooth and charming, with the hint of a delightful Irish brogue. It’s hardly a subtle pickup line, but the teasing lilt in his flirtation causes Ben’s stomach to flip.

I happened to stumble upon this year’s @kyluxbigbang and was able to collaborate with the talented @nerdherderette. She made this modern!AU come to life so vividly I was in awe because this idea has been in my head for several years.

The era in which this FanFiction is set simply offered me the chance to work on some painted portraits again. I imagined how the portrait of Hux was commissioned by his father, hanging in the mansion all alone. And after Hux met Ben again, his portrait was joined by Ben’s - the two of them together on the wall now.
It was a complicated melody, but Ben, a few days earlier, had expressed an appreciation for it. Armitage had been playing it in the living room with his teacher, and Ben, who had brought them a drink (it was his way of thanking them for their hospitality after all), had chirped an “oh, that’s the most exciting one I’ve heard you play in days,” and Armitage felt himself light up.
He’d been perfecting that tune with every second he’d had, to the point of slightly cutting his fingertips.

It was a great experience participating in @kyluxbigbang and working together with the great @rorypilot. Her ideas for the setting and story were inviting me to paint art works again instead of only relying on lineart.
It was a joy working with you; thank you very much for writing this sweet story.
