SIDEKICK CLASS: THE MOUNT

The Mount: A new sidekick class, featuring subclasses for land, air and water mounts, and a list of suggested mounts for adventures and campaign settings. This title adds a new sidekick class - the mount! It provides new rules to manage animal companions for players using sidekick rules from Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything or the D&D Essentials Kit, adding a full sidekick class for mount companions, who level as the players do throughout their adventures.

The idea behind this sidekick class is to open mounts to existing alongside the players, giving them the mobility to travel far and wide in their adventures in dark waters, vast lands, and open airs of any setting they step into.

Out now on DMs Guild - Captain Snowmane’s Guided Cruise Through the Domains of Dread

Captain Snowmane’s Guided Cruise Through the Domains of Dread adds nine new ravenloft domains, each with backstory & roleplay advice for their Darklords, noteworthy features, settlements and sites, adventure hooks, and much more within! This project was led bySven Truckenbrodt, and written by a team of writers, including Bryan Holmes,Darren Kenny, Matthew Whitby,Matt Standfast,Miłosz Gawęcki,Nick Didato,Rajib Kalita,Tyler F.M. Edwards, as well as a domain by me:

For this project, I wrote Sumun, Domain of the Grieving King. This domain is a retelling of one of my favourite pieces of ancient literature, The Epic of Gilgamesh, inspired in particular by Gilgamesh’s grief-stricken wandering in search for eternal life, following the death of Enkidu.

Whether you’ve read The Epic of Gilgamesh or not, Sumun offers a Ravenloft domain inspired by dark fantasy and disaster horror, and informed by the civlisations of ancient Mesopotamia, where on the receding floodplain of the river Buranun, the lone city of Ašuru stands as the last crumbling holdfast of civilisation, with the horrors of the desert probing its walls for weaknesses.
A sputtering flame against the desert winds.

Captain Snowmane’s Guided Cruise Through the Domains of Dread includes a guide to the locations of Sumun, suggestions of how to play a Sumunian character, rules to incorporate the ancient Mesopotamian pantheon into your Ravenloft (or other D&D) games, and several adventure hooks in the land of the spreading desert, as well as rules for its darklord: Shimushnirgal, the Grieving King.

To celebrate the launch, this title is available at a discounted price of $9.95 until July 31st! Check it out here!

Now live on Kickstarter - Den of Assassins!

Hey everyone! I couldn’t be more excited to announce the first kickstarter I’ve worked on, Den of Assassins by Bite-Sized Gaming is now live - and we hit our initial goal an hour after going live!

Den of Assassins is the perfect book for those looking to include assassins in their games, be they players or NPCs:

- For players wanting to strike from the shadows, Den of Assassins features new assassin-themed subclasses for every core class!

- For Dungeon Masters, Den of Assassins adds a host of sinister, setting-neutral assassin NPCs for your games, including statblocks and characters to fil the role of henchmen, mini-bosses, or even as the main villain of an entire campaign!

Interested in what I contributed? I wrote the barbarian NPCs, including Ketch, the Headsman, a solitary former executioner who has put his skills to a new line of work…

What’s more: Everything I wrote can be found in the free preview on the kickstarter page!

Check out Den of Assassins - live on Kickstarter until July 7, 2021!

Hey everyone, the book of night team has just released a follow-up to the Book of Night: A Ravenloft Player Companion, this time instead featuring Ravenloft-themed magic items!

I worked as the editor for this piece, and let me tell you there are some fantastic items in there, from a set of Mummy Brown paint possessed by an ancient spirit, to a reflection-recording mirror, and even the dreaded “Meat Lover’s Fork” which can curse its user into becoming a ghoul!

Check out some sample items below:

Player’s Guide to New Capenna - Availalble for free download here!

Welcome to never-sleeping, art-deco streets of New Capenna, adventurer. There’s plenty that needs doing by someone with your skills, so long as you know how to avoid falling afoul of the families.

New Capenna has quickly become my favourite plane WotC has created since Theros, and seeing as there’s no RPG material for it, I spent this week creating a 5e player’s guide to the setting (while listening to the awesome soundtrack that was commissioned for it on loop)!

The Player’s Guide to New Capenna includes 17 pages of content:

  • An introduction to the setting for player characters
  • Halo, the resource the city runs on
  • Races unique to New Capenna: Cephalids, Raccoonfolk, and Rhox
  • A guide to the technology and equipment that appears in New Capenna - don’t expect to be carrying around a crossbow or wearing chainmail.
  • A guide to how each class can fit into the setting, such as:
    - Construction worker barbarians of the Riveteers
    - Socialite bards of the Cabaretti
    - Paladin bruisers of the Brokers
    - Assassin rogues of the Maestros
    - Divination wizards of the Obscura
    -Non family-affiliated gumshoe rangers
  • Backgrounds for each of the five families: Brokers, Obscura, Maestros, Riveteers and Cabaretti, complete with background, features, spells, tables, and contacts in the other families.
  • Rules for New Capenna’s vehicles - everything you need for a halo-powered car chase!

This PDF is intended to be something of a living document - one which can be improved and expanded with feedback and use in-game, so please let me know how it’s worked for you in-game, and keep an eye open for updates!

Special thanks to @stickyhunterand@beardburritoid for being a massive help in creating this project!

This PDF is available for free, but if you like my content and want to support me producing more pieces like this, you can support me directly through Kofior by sending tips through tumblr right here.

Alternatively, if you want to check out my premium published content you can find my library of published adventures and expansions on Dungeon Master’s Guild - if you’re a fan of Theros or Ravnica there’s a lot that might be to your liking, with another big Theros project coming very soon!
