#kuroo tetsuro drabble
kuroo knew what was about to happen.
he’d already been bedridden for weeks, unable to do much; all thanks to this stupid sickness.
it wasn’t fair.
none of this was fair — only having a year with you, only surviving to twenty, it wasn’t fair. he screamed it into the night, begging any and every god for more time because it wasn’t fair.
he would never get the life he craved to have with you, never see your face in his children and the grey streaks in your hair. he’ll never get to see you walk down the aisle or the joy in your face as you both graduated college.
he should deem himself lucky, he supposed, that he even got to have a year with you — three, if you counted the years of your friendship. three years where he got to enjoy your laughter at the most mundane things and how your whole face would light up at the sight of your favorite book.
he keeps those memories with him, the happy ones, as he stares at your sleeping form. he smiles slightly at your peaceful expression, a sight smile on your face as you enjoy your joy-filled dreams.
he’ll miss this the most, he decides, how your sleeping form fit perfectly next to his, even on the cramped hospital bed frame.
he leans down to kiss your brow and his smile widens as you lean further into his touch. he softly caresses your cheek and brushes your hair away from your face.
“i love you” he whispers, “i’ll always love you, and i’ll always be here, my darling.”
he places a soft kiss on your cheek, “i’ll find you, okay? in another lifetime, i’ll find you. i’ll always find you. i swear it. we’ll have endless lives together, my dear — nothing will keep me from you.”
he wipes the stray tears from his eyes as he stares down at you. god,he’ll miss you.
with that, he pulls you closer and lets the endless sleep engulf him.
