LIVE

Now there’s time to give it all

I put my fears behind again

On skinned knees we’ll crawl

Confusion, live in Hollywood - Alice In Chains, 1991

Got my pills ‘gainst mosquito death

My buddy’s breathin’ his dyin’ breath

Oh god please won’t you help me make it through

Alice In Chains - Rooster, 1992

Cheating myself still you know more

It would be so easy with a whore

Try to understand me little girl

My twisted passion to be your world

Alice In Chains - Love, Hate, Love live at the Moore Theater in Seattle, WA (1990)

“That darkness was always part of the band, but it wasn’t all about that. There was always an optimism, even in the darkest shit we wrote. With Dirt, it’s not like we were saying ‘Oh yeah, this is a good thing.’ It was more of a warning than anything else, rather than 'Hey, come and check this out, it’s great!’ We were talking about what was going on at the time, but within that there was always a survivor element – a kind of triumph over the darker elements of being a human being. I still think we have all of that intact, but maybe the percentage has shifted.”

—Jerry Cantrell, 2013.

“Layne and I became good friends on the 1993 Lollapalooza tour. I will always remember him as the bright, funny and amazingly talented singer who got up there every hot summer day in a gorgeous suit and sang like an angry angel. We would laugh until we split our sides arguing about who was ‘more metal.’ I hope now he is at peace.”-Tom Morello
