#MondayMotivation  #LifeLessons

1.  Listen.  Listen .. listen.. listen.  Even when you don’t agree, or when you firmly believe that the other person is talking utter nonsense.  There may still be something to learn.  So listen.

2.  Never be ashamed to say “ I don’t know this” or “I never knew that.”  Truth and vulnerability helps manage expectations, and make you more approachable.  It shows you’re human.

3.  Show respecttoeveryone.  Everyone.  The janitor, the mail room clerk, the maintenance worker.  They see everything and know everything. They could probably run the whole outfit if given the opportunity.

4.  Choose to see another person’s perspective. It may be a horribly crappy perspective but it helps explain what motivates them, and that’s important when it comes to understanding, working with, and/or managing personnel.  No one says you have to agree.  Insight is what is key.

5.  Know when to end it.  Not every battle is worth fighting. Not every problem requires a perfect solution… or any solution.  You don’t need everyone on-board.  Know when to disengage and let go.

6.  To thine own self be true.  Know who you are and what you stand for. When push comes to shove and you are dealing with a crisis, you will default to who you are at the core. Worse thing is to be shocked by your own short comings. Know yourself.

7.  Don’t be afraid to speak up, or stand up for what you think is right. Even if you’re the only one standing at the time.  Have integrity.

8.  Don’t let excellent get in the way of good enough. This is so important.  If you do you will achieve nothing, deliver nothing, and fail at everything, leaving a trail of incompletes in your wake. This is the difference between doers and dreamers.  Don’t condemn yourself to living in a world of extremes where something is either perfect or not done at all.

And lastly…

9.  Finish strong.  Finish weak.  Finish tired.  Finish slow.  Finish fast.  Finish however you must, but whatever you do, don’t quit…. Finish.
