LIVE

I think prime english major behavior is reading books for fun and conducting an analysis of it just for yourself

there’s something about sitting under an ancient tree on a sunny day, letting the warm wind waft around you as it brings the smells of earth, hearing the sounds of life and nature all around you, and curled up with a good book

you know those unspoken truths?

the ones never given the light of day,

the ones seared in your soul?

these are the inescapable ones,

the ones too heavy to simply ignore.

if tried to deny

these truths will outlive your insignificant soul.

“But an August afternoon, with blue hazes scarfing the harvest slopes, little winds whispering elfisy in the poplars, and a dancing splendor of red poppies outflaming against the dark coppice of young firs in a corner of the cherry orchid, was fitter for dreams than dead languages.”

-Anne of Avonlea

“Every day I lose a little, and feel more sure that I shall never gain it back. It’s like the tide, Jo, when it turns; it goes slowly, but it can’t be stopped.”

Can you imagine who was sobbing and weeping for longer than I would like to admit right after finishing reading that scene? That moment of sisterly communication and acceptance just simply broke my heart . Because yeah, I knew what was coming, even if it was my first time reading “Little Women” (it affected me enough to be unable to read anything else for the rest of the day).

My sweet Beth, so lovely and charming… My favourite March girl from the start. This is how I envisioned her during the book.

Who is your favourite sister? What do you think about Beth?

You’ve got me, anyhow. I’m not good for much, I know, but I’ll stand by you, Jo, all the days of my life. Upon my word I will!
