Welp, so much for the prediction that he and Chris could host within a few years as the ultimate Oscars gimmick.

Two genuine apologies and he resigned from the academy. But it’s just not enough for these people.

All his projects are on hold. Deals are on hold. Now he can’t attend the Oscars for ten years.

I’ve never witnessed anyone in Hollywood actually be punished by Hollywood until now.

Just so we’re clear: Jim Carey forcibly kissed a teenage Alicia Silverstone without her consent at an awards show. Was not punished. Adrien Brody forcibly kissed Halle Berry at an award show without her consent. Also was not punished. John Wayne had to be physically held back from attacking Sacheen Littlefeather at the Oscars. Was not punished. Roman Polanski was given an Oscar in abstention because if he came to collect the award in person, he would have been arrested due to his conviction for statutory rape. Was not removed from the academy until 2018. Casey Affleck was given an Oscar shortly after he was accused to sexual harassment. Woody Allen has been nominated and awarded several times by the academy despite allegations of molestation being public since the 1990s.

so the academy is reviewing whether or not to remove Will Smith’s award and here are some interesting tweets about that :)

homophobicslug:

love that will smith has been a meme for loving and defending his wife at an award show twice now. the ultimate wife guy.

I watched Mindy Kaling talk about shipping them on the red carpet so I decided to go ahead and make it a meme.

Everyone seems to forget past Oscar ceremonies where winners had onstage tussles of their own:

Patricia Arquette in 2015 (Freddy never forgets)

Explain it to me like I’m five. I want people to explain and give a rightful, intelligent excuse on how what Chris Rock did was a joke at the expense of a woman who’s currently suffering of an autoimmune disease. I want it explained without bringing up that he “probably didn’t know” that he’s a “comedian” that the jokes were “drafted beforehand”.

It’s funny because I am seeing an overwhelming amount of white people and non black people using this situation to paint black people as the emotional menaces that we are. All of sudden I am seeing peacemakers from a country who thrives out of won wars and guns. With an active history of violence till this day.

The slap is a statement. It should have some of you shook. It should have some of you from now on consciously acting and behaving in line. Verbal violence is just as bad if not worst than physical violence. Saying whatever you want comes with consequences. I am hoping that those of you who are mostly chronically online are made more socially aware now.

People saying that Will Smith was initially laughing…guys, that’s not a “haha that’s funny laugh”. That looked like a “haha oh you done fucked up” laugh.

Was it tacky? Yeah sure for the Oscars.

Was it warranted? Uh, yeah!

Look, celebrities already have to deal with a lot of weird shit, the worst one having their privacy constantly poked, analyzed, and commented by strangers on the daily. One thing that people get way too comfortable, is joking about shit people can’t control, in this case, Jada’s alopecia.

The point of dark humor is that the one joking about their expensive is themselves. Usually humor is about punching up not punching down. I, for one, would love it if it became a regular thing for celebrities to not hold any shit and be “professional” about out of pocket shit like making fun of your wife’s hair condition that clearly made her uncomfortable.

Here’s How the 2019 Oscars Made History

The 2019 Oscars, and all of its memorable fashion momentsandaward speeches, has officially concluded. And while we’re already eagerly awaiting another year of exciting movie magic, this year’s ceremony proved to be one for the record books by featuring a record number of wins for black members of the Hollywood community.

The 2019 Oscars featured a record seven wins for black filmmakers, cast, and crew, Entertainment Tonight reported. Those who picked up Oscars on Sunday night included Regina King (best supporting actress) for her role in If Beale Street Could Talk; Mahershala Ali (best supporting actor) for his performance in Green Book;Ruth E. Carter (best costume design) for her work on Black Panther;Hannah Beachler (best production design), also for her work on Black Panther; Peter Ramsey (best animated feature) for codirecting Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse; and BlacKkKlansman team members Kevin Willmott and Spike Lee (best adapted screenplay).

In addition to the record number of wins for people of color in the film community, Beachler became the first black person to win an Oscar for production design for her work on Black Panther, and Carter’s win, also for her work on Black Panther, is the first time a black person has won the Oscar for costume design.
