X Deaths of Wolverine #5 [Textless] (Variant Cover) (2022)

[note: Ryan Stegman created an in-depth pitch to Marvel, the story is involved futuristic Wolverine dying and being resurrected in Asgard, with this cover showing Logan standing in front of the World Tree Yggdrasil:

The concept of this cover was that marvel asked me to draw a futuristic Wolverine.
I have a pitch for a story for Marvel that I haven’t had a ton of time to pursue so I drew it here. The general idea is that Wolverine dies at the beginning of the story. Then the Norns at the base Yggdrasil in Asgard get an urgent warning that they must resurrect this new spirit. But they look at this Logan character’s history and are like, “why this guy? From all we can tell he’s a bad guy”. But the entity that brings him insists that they must because he plays a huge role in the salvation of the entire multiverse. They finally agree to resurrect him in A bubble in Asgard in which they will put him through trials of heroism in order to prove he is worthy of resurrection. Will he make it? Well, I guess if I ever make the book we will find out “ ~ Ryan Stegman.]

The cover designs for Marvel’s DAWN OF X Vol.1–6 collections. The books collect the recent X-Men franchise series chronologically and following the story  narrative across the relaunched series with each book containing the corresponding numbers of the series (Vol. 1 contains all Nº1 issues, and so forth). The unifying design system across the collections puts the X front and centre, in order to create an iconic cover design that stands apart from everything else on the shelves.

Cover art for the books is by Pepe Larraz and David Curiel (Vol. 1, 4–6) and R.B. Silva and Marte Gracia (Vol.2–3).

Today sees the release of Marvel’s HOUSE OF X / POWERS OF X oversized hardcover collection, and caps a project I’ve been involved with since March this year; working with Marvel and their creative teams—spearheaded by writer Jonathan Hickman—on the complete rebranding and relaunch of their X-Men franchise. The House of X and Powers of X kickstarted the franchise refresh that included a brand new “X” logo mark design and a new design language, developed with Jonathan Hickman, that runs through all the books to date.

For this collection I revisited the design of the series and designed a brand new publication package—including multiple Pantone colours on the dust jacket.

The book is available at all good comic and book stores.

Here’s a small selection of my design on the book; including the covers, book casing, and interior pages.
