Catching up on tumblr posts again and I wanted to start with the fantastic new line-up of X-men that is set to be announced during the upcoming X-men: Hellfire Gala!

Marvel had fans vote for one member, and it was revealed that Polaris was the winner. I personally voted for her, and I am so excited because I feel like Polaris was one of those characters that has gotten a really great arc yet. I kind of feel like she is always kind of side-lined or given inconsistent arcs that focus more on the drama than her character. I am ready for her to real spotlight, and I hope this is it.

In addition to Polaris, I am excited to see Synch all get full members, the return of Sunfire, and X-23 taking up the official mantle of Wolverine in an actual X-men team. I am super excited for this roster and I can’t wait to see what kind of epic adventures they embark on.

The cover designs for Marvel’s DAWN OF X Vol.1–6 collections. The books collect the recent X-M

The cover designs for Marvel’s DAWN OF X Vol.1–6 collections. The books collect the recent X-Men franchise series chronologically and following the story  narrative across the relaunched series with each book containing the corresponding numbers of the series (Vol. 1 contains all Nº1 issues, and so forth). The unifying design system across the collections puts the X front and centre, in order to create an iconic cover design that stands apart from everything else on the shelves.

Cover art for the books is by Pepe Larraz and David Curiel (Vol. 1, 4–6) and R.B. Silva and Marte Gracia (Vol.2–3).

My comics output of 2019. The year started off with the collected editions of DAYS OF HATE Vol.2, THE NEW WORLD, and THE WEATHERMAN Vol.1; and the release of THE WEATHERMAN Vol.2 issues #1–5 (#6 drops in February 2020). And then Marvel and the X-Men came knocking and I’ve spent the best part of the year designing the new X-Men master brand and identity, the complete publication design language for the franchise and the logos for all the new series relaunching the X-Men family of books; and worked alongside Jonathan Hickman creating the now ubiquitous “data pages” that runs through the series.

More is coming in 2020. Stay tuned!

Today sees the release of Marvel’s HOUSE OF X / POWERS OF X oversized hardcover collection, and caps a project I’ve been involved with since March this year; working with Marvel and their creative teams—spearheaded by writer Jonathan Hickman—on the complete rebranding and relaunch of their X-Men franchise. The House of X and Powers of X kickstarted the franchise refresh that included a brand new “X” logo mark design and a new design language, developed with Jonathan Hickman, that runs through all the books to date.

For this collection I revisited the design of the series and designed a brand new publication package—including multiple Pantone colours on the dust jacket.

The book is available at all good comic and book stores.

Here’s a small selection of my design on the book; including the covers, book casing, and interior pages.
