#may we lift each other up

LIVE

Today I’m lifting up the enourmously talented tacky ( @tackytigerfic | tackytiger on AO3). I’ve been so lucky to get to know tacky a bit over in discord-land, namely by going into their DMs and screaming incoherently about a fic that they wrote that I loved. As one does.

Today’s fic is In the Hallway (Drarry, 1960 words, Mature). This fic is just devestating in the most beautiful way. Tacky’s writing is always gorgeous, they have such a sure, steady way and a lyrical voice. This fic drops us in to a particular moment in time, it doesn’t explain how we got to where we are, it just transports us there beautifully. This is a fic about trauma and how healing is long and slow, and imperfect. How we’re not always our best selves when were hurting, but we have to keep trying. Keep working on it. Ultimately, this felt like a very hopeful fic, and I definitely was crying at the end of it, so there’s that.

I loved meeting this fic!

Today’s post is a double lift up!

First, we have @sweet-s0rr0wsweet_s0rr0w on AO3. sweet-s0rr0w has been writing/publishing in the Drarry fandom for over a year, and is such a lovely, wonderful, supportive, positive part of this fandom! I’m so glad I’ve been getting to know her! She’s also a phenomenally talented artist GO LOOK AT MY ART!!!!

Today we’re talking about Thameslink, the 07:29 from Luton (Drarry, 993 words, Gen). I read this when she first published it and *loved* it! [And I’m realizing I never left a comment, must rectify that now!] This is a gorgeous and intriguing little vignette. It’s beautifull written, with her usual delicate touch. I don’t tend to read a lot of 2nd POV, and I think it can be tough to do it well, but sweet-s0rr0w just NAILS this. It pulls you in, and somehow she manages to create a WHOLE world in under 1000 words. I would read another 50K of this in a heartbeat!

This is a double lift-up because sweet-s0rr0w’s fic was inspired by Joy’s art(@ihopeyoubothstaysafefromharm | ihopeyoubothstaysafefromharm on AO3). Joy is just another beacon of positivity in the world. His art is gorgeous - so emotional and evocative, beautiful and just like sinking into a warm bath with a cup of tea and your favorite book. If that makes sense.

In addition to his art, Joy is a writer! I want to draw your attention to draco malfoy and the supermarket basil plant (Drarry, 1628 words, Gen). This is a gorgeous piece as well. So beautifully written - a little window into this Draco’s world. I have to say, I cried at the end of this, but also, I felt so so seen in this fic. I’m the same way - the idea that a thing is sad or lonely or unloved just BREAKS MY HEART and I CANNOT. So Joy got that exactly gorgeously right.

For today’s post, I’ll be lifting up tai ( @teacup-tai | tainara_black on AO3). I’ve been getting to know tai a bit over in the microfic community, and she’s just consistantly a really lovely, warm, supportive and kind person! She’s also a wonderful writer!

I read Space Bodies (Drarry, 1494 words, Mature), and was just blown away.  Tai’s writing is just… gosh, how even to describe it! It’s so meditative and descriptive, you can just SEE the fic, alive on the page. Somehow tai manages to capture so much emotion in under 1500 words. The way she uses language here is glorious, almost like a prose poem.

This is a powerful story - you can see the redemption that Draco has worked for, as well as the power of living her truth. This fic doen’t shy away from the aftermath of war and the trauma both Harry and Draco have experienced, but it’s also a really beautiful and hopeful vignette. I don’t tend to read a lot of fic that reenvision canon in this way, but this was just gorgeous!

Alive on the page is so right!!
