Underrated 80’s Alternative Bands You Need to Listen To:

bc the 80s weren’t all just discos and legwarmers right?

The Replacements ~ a true underground band that’s wayyyy too underrated. just check them out

Minutemen~ that kind of effortless singing and basic riffs that just make really good, politically motivated music (lol)

The Feelies ~ nerdy, catchy stuff. for a reference, if weezer was a little older and was more punk

Mission of Burma ~ punk/alternative stuff, weird (but good) time shifts and piercing chords that aren’t basic or repetitive

The Cramps ~ super creepy but catchy music, it’s really unique garage-rock stuff

Gang of Four ~ part of the early punk movement, lots of political tunes with strong guitar/drum solos

The Dream Syndicate ☁️~ rock/alternative with a little bit of 80s pop elements included. super good guitar riffs and unique vocals

Meat Puppets ~ this is a mean emoji. but this band encompasses all aspects of rock and punk which makes really catchy and head banger music

MTV Unplugged in New YorkbyNIRVANAwas released on this day in 1994. Although the DVD versions came out way later (November 20, 2007) I included them on this picture to show my full Unplugged collection (so far).

I prefer the audio of the DVD, because it’s longer and includes gems like this by Kurt:

“You want us to play Nine Inch Nails songs?”
