They were going to be really…. artsy. We told Danny [Nirvana’s manager] and he digged the idea but said it wasn’t going to fly. They [Geffen] wanted a commercial album like Nevermind but bigger. Kurt always kid around by saying he was going to walk into David Geffen’s office one day and hold a gun to his head until he agreed to what he wanted. After the album was released most of the photoshoots we did had Kurt with a gun in his hand. People thought it was because he was giving subliminal messages. It was Kurt’s way of saying ‘fuck you Geffen!’. Sure, yeah, at the time it was an inside joke so no one understood it but we did and so did David Geffen. He [Kurt Cobain] was pissed that every idea he had would be shot down. He started to feel powerless at the label.”

MTV Unplugged in New YorkbyNIRVANAwas released on this day in 1994. Although the DVD versions came out way later (November 20, 2007) I included them on this picture to show my full Unplugged collection (so far).
I prefer the audio of the DVD, because it’s longer and includes gems like this by Kurt:

Os quebra-cabeças serão vendidos à partir do dia 4 de Setembro com 500 peças cada. Já para o dia 18 está previsto o lançamento de uma versão com 1000 peças de “Nevermind”.
A Zee Productions, empresa responsável pelos objetos, é a mesma que anunciou recentemente o lançamento de oito discos do AC/DC em versões montáveis.
(Você provavelmente já encontra algum produto semelhante à venda mas esses são os únicos lançados oficialmente)
