I know this isn’t in any way a canon possibility but I was wondering
If LWJ somehow caught wind of what NHS was planning, including bringing WWX back through MXY, and killing JGY as revenge for NMJ, would he have said something or intervened somehow?
The cause may be just, but then again, the means to achieve it are… questionable at best.
He’s supposed to be righteous, isn’t he?
But then again, if he speaks up, Wei Ying may never return…
Okay, I’ve thought about this, and I think that if Lan Wangji knew, he would definitely stop it.
Wei Wuxian fought for life. He fought for righteousness and goodness, and Lan Wangji’s failing was not doing that because he followed the righteousness of his clan instead of doing what was actually right. If Lan Wangji wanted to respect Wei Wuxian and what he fought for, then he would fight for the right of every life, regardless of how crazy or socially snubbed they would be.
Yeah, it would hurt not to have Wei Wuxian back, but the thing about Lan Wangji is that even if he was hurting, he was living his life and growing and developing as a person. He wouldn’t walk back all of that growth for selfish reasons. C'mon, he didn’t automatically jump Wei Wuxian’s bones when he first saw him tho we all know he wanted to, he didn’t force his feelings on Wei Wuxian, and he only kept Wei Wuxian around to keep him safe from a real threat (Jiang Cheng).
Lan Wangji might be tempted, sure, but the beauty of his character is that he now knows what’s right and what’s not, and he’s not going to let anyone or anything sway him ever again to do the wrong thing. If Wei Wuxian could be brought back without a sacrifice, he’d probably do it in a heartbeat. But it does, so he’d have to weigh it carefully, and he’d probably come to the conclusion that Wei Wuxian, the same Wei Wuxian who offered what shelter and protection he could to those who shared a name with his home’s murderers, wouldn’t want him to sacrifice anyone for him to come back.
Those are my thoughts, at least. He can take advantage and be thankful once it’s over, but if he knew beforehand? He’d have a duty to himself and to Wei Wuxian to at least try to stop it.
